Strathmore Golf Centre - Rannaleroch Course

About
The Strathmore Golf Centre's Rannaleroch Course, designed by John Salvesen and opened in 1996, has already been described as a classic. The generous greens are great targets, but their undulations make for an unexpected challenge.
The four par 3s each present an individual challenge, ranging from 122 to 224 yards, while the fifth, a challenging par-5 hole, requires a 160-yard carry over water from the white tees. The-par-72 course measures 6,454 yards.
Strathmore has something for everyone, including the 18-hole Rannaleroch Course and the nine-hole Leitfie Links, a 10-bay covered golf range and a golf academy.

Love this course
Great course in a lovely setting. Course in great condition for time of year. Dry with no mats and only 4 winter greens. Backed by super catering.
Strathmore - Terrific!
Greens were being top dressed as we played but still putted well. Tees and Fairways were as immaculate as ever, incredible really given the volume of rain that has fallen recently!
The Course is a pleasure to play and a credit to everyone involved in its upkeep.
A fantastic day out!
In the mid 1990's, and whilst in my much fitter 20's, I actually roofed and roughcasted the clubhouse at Strathmore. The course was just being constructed alongside it, and it was an impressive feat to witness. Until then I had never known just how much goes into a modern golf courses' design, architecture and construction, it's quite an undertaking, and many golfers at that time were sceptical about how successful the club could be given how much it was costing to build, and all of the other surrounding competition. I knew a lot of local golfers back then who were pessimistic, my father being one of them, and I had played golf alongside them as a junior just along the road at Blairgowrie, but gave up when I turned 16 as beer and girls became much more interesting.... A 33 year hietus later and I returned to golf in January 2023, and I'm now a member at Murrayshall about 15 miles away from Strathmore. Disheartened by how difficult the management have made play there, the constant water-logging, regularly losing balls in the ridiculously long so-called short rough, the postage stamp greens, the absence of a fringe and perpetually having mud up to my shins, I'm seeking-out another place to play next season. I had heard many good things about Strathmore, and I always thought it would be great to try it out since I witnessed it being constructed - I was not disappointed! It is a serious contender for next season! What a fantastic and extremely forgiving golf course this is! Despite one of the actual roads to it being completely closed due to flooding the day I played, the course was almost completely dry. Their drainage is seriously impressive, and the course is in great condition despite the dreadful weather we've had here in September. The staff were incredibly friendly and pleasant to deal with, we had lunch, an old-school pub style meal, and played 18 holes, and I will be back for certain! As some honest feedback, I would just state the obvious and say that the clubhouse could do with some fresh, modern decor, it has been well used, but I'm sure they know that, and the disruption and cost will no doubt be the reason for it not being done. But with a bit of sprucing-up, this club could be a real jem! But, if you're just there for the golf, there are few courses in Perthshire that are any better, and I'm confident that you will not be disappointed either! I salute your success, and I'm really glad to see that the naysayers lost!
Wiltshire Girls on Tour
Beautiful course, excellent condition and well laid out. Suitable for golfers of varying abilities and handicaps. A warm welcome, friendly staff and lovely steak meal at end of round. A great finish to our day. A gem not to be missed.
A lovely course in fantastic condition
The course was the best condition of any i've played in the last few weeks, a credit to the greenkeepers who were always busy on the course the two times i played that week.
Some lovely features, amenities were good, and all were friendly, for the price this was the best value for money course i've played, difficulty wise, the course is open and plays easy, but the greens can make it tricky with a lot of undulations and green side danger, and flag position can increase this risk. Overall it played really well, and in a week where there was rain, it played better than any of the courses i'd tried.
Nice features, good condition.
First time playing here and would go back.
Nice easy walk some tricky holes, some with water features others with out of bounds.
It would not be difficult to rack up a poor score.
Fairways were pretty good. Tee banks could be better.
Greens ran nice and true.
Relaxing Game
Nice layout, pretty generous fairways, a beautiful display of rhododendrons camellias, magnolias on display in May,, reasonably priced with a good menue
Great all round experience
We arrived and the young man in the pro shop was extremely friendly and helpful. We have played here some years ago and remembered their excellent carvery we had . So we booked a table for when we came in. We are a very varied group of golfing abilities Handicap 9/11/37/46. We all had a very positive experience. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were in good condition especially for the time of year. The pace of play was good and everything kept moving. We were all entering cards so were putting out. One of us received a handicap cut with a loss of 2.4 so excellent result! We came in to a very welcoming club house and waiting staff. They did not rush us to order they were very patient whilst we sorted our cards out and had a drink. We all had the carvery which was excellent. The whole experience of h=going to Strathmore Golf club was superb we will be returning!
