Sun Village Golf Course
About
Sun Village Golf Course, although located within a retirement community, offers a challenging game. This par-3 course has three sets of tee boxes to accommodate most skill levels and abilities. It has plenty of water on the back nine, adding to its difficulty. Although the course has homes surrounding it, there is still a laid back and quiet atmosphere. Since the golf course is aimed towards seniors, it is easy to walk although it does have a winding layout that some golfers get lost on. The Sun Village Golf Course being only for seniors is a misconception though, since the course offers a good game.

Plenty of water holes! Photo submitted by LAmmeson on 04/27/2021
Good Little Course
This course is short, even for a par-3 routing. I hit nothing more than a 8-iron throughout, and most holes required half- and three-quarter-wedges. It's a par-3 track, so there's no mystery to it. The front is very simple, and the back features water on almost every hole.
Tees were in good shape, and the greens would have been perfect if they weren't so slow. I think they recently over-seeded, so they might be letting them go a bit to retain moisture. It was brutal judging putts and chips. The greens are small, too. The bunkers were in good shape--a pleasant experience on a small course like this.
The "clubhouse" is nothing more than a counter with a few amenities for sale. No food beyond sodas, chips, and candy. I've played here three times and each time the person behind the counter has been incredibly friendly.
Limitations to note: it's all walking. You can bring a trolley or carry, but no carts. Also, no ball retrievers are allowed. (You won't be able to find a dunked ball anyway since the water hazards are deep and dyed blue.) There is no range, but they do have a hitting cage and putting green.
It's still October, so the snowbirds haven't returned yet. The course was practically empty--I saw just three other couples while I played alone. And this was on a perfect Saturday at noon. It took me less than 2 hours to play all 18. Because of this, they were really loose about tee times and I went out immediately after arriving 20 minutes before my tee time.
Fun track that really tests your short wedges. Good bargain (I paid for a "Hot Deal" on this site and saved about 15 bucks.) I'll play it again.
Fun course!
Great fun par 3, that you can walk and finish 8 within 2 hours easily. Greens are in great shape now also!
Great iron practice
This is a fun little 18 hole par 3 course. Great place to work on your irons and short game. I didn’t hit anything more than a 7 iron. The course just came out of overseed, so the greens were pretty slow but that’s to be expected. Overall the grass was in nice shape. Bunkers have good sand. For a par 3 course there are plenty of bunkers and some water that adds to the challenge and scenery. It’s an easy walk and the pace was great.
A Peach with a Physical Challenge
I'm 76 and have some health issues. I walk a couple of miles each day so I'm okay to play golf from a golf cart. There are NO CARTS used on this lovely course. That takes its toll on some of us. If I'd know that, I would not have walked 2.6 miles on the morning before I golfed on this course. One of the other would be manageable. Doing both bordered on dangerous for me. Please keep that in mind if you're a senior and want to golf here.
Great short course
Great course, good short game practice. Greens were super shaggy and slow unfortunately.
Another Enjoyable Round at Sun Village
My wife and I played 18 holes at Sun Village. We have played it in previous years in the summer when limited tee times are available to the public.
The course is 18 par three holes from easy to difficult. The front nine is easiest and the back nine is more challenging with water on every hole.
The temperatures were 95 to 100, but we are used to playing in the heat and had plenty of water.
Great Golf
I am always so comfortable golfing at Sun Village. Very friendly and accommodating staff and wonderful place to practice your short game!
