Very disappointing!! I’ve played all Sun City Grand courses several times & have never seen them in this condition. Tee boxes & fairways are in terrible condition. Greens were bumpy having been punched recently. Sun City West courses are in better condition for a third of the price. Whoever is running golf course operations @ Grand needs to be replaced to bring the courses back to what they were before. I have always recommended all the Grand courses in the past but not anymore. Now I recommend Sun City West to people I golf with

Rough shape

Played Granite Falls South and it’s going to need a month or two to recover from a bad Spring aerification. Maybe they went into it too late, but the course is in really rough shape. Had to play winter rules and the greens are bumpy.

Greens have been slit punched

The greens have been recently punched with the slit cuts. On some greens the slits are indented causing the ball to bounce off line, other greens aren't as bad. All greens are hard and fast causing the ball to roll off easily. Maybe they should let the greens grow out a bit and slow them down. Several pin placements were on downward slopes. There was no way to stop the ball on these pins. The fairways are decent, but they are a little thin in places.

Good value

For a $90;green fee, I. the Phoenix area, this is a good value, There were some patchy spots but the greens were in excellent shape, There are also many options on different tees available. Call the pro shop directly for tee times.

dead fairways

The fairways were all dead grass. I guess they were getting ready for over seeding? It would have been nice to know that before booking the round. It would also have been nice to get a discount for the conditions, instead they raised the price $10 this month. It is a fun course when it is in good shape. Just very disappointed that fairways were dead grass and the rough was long.

Windy

The wind made it difficult to play. Not the courses fault. I played late in the afternoon so pace was not a problem. Finished around 2.5 hours. No GPS or coolers on the carts. There are water fountains every couple of holes which is helpful in the summer heat. The greens still need some time to heal and thicken up.

Loved the course but the ranger was horrible.

The ranger was horrible, forced us to miss a hole even though we were on a 4hr pace. He and he stopped us to chat and give us towels. Just horrible course management from a ranger.

Maybe he was having a bad day because possibly his mom yelled at him, he doesn't know the game, he is horrible at the game, sucks at life, his dog bit him or he had a brunch he was late for. Who knows....

However, I do apologize for writing a negative article because of him.

The course was great, in great condition and fun.

A) Was having a bad day

B) Doesn't know the game or plays like trying to push us while we were enjoying a 4hr pace. The team being l behind us were not pushing on us. It really is the reason for this horrible rating

Bumpy Greens and Wet Tee Boxes

I wish I would of taken pictures. Greens were punched maybe 3 to 4 weeks ago. Greens were cut back because of the freshly punched greens. So they are pretty bumpy! I would say by the beginning of August the greens will putt nicely. I was told two weeks ago when I played Cimarron the greens at Granite Falls were fast. So that is why I wanted to play Granite Falls. Not the case. The other thing that was bothersome, couple of tee boxes were absolutely soaked. Like overwatered! It was standing water. I have never seen this before. For the most part if you were off the fairway the course was fairly muddy! While it was nice to revisited a course where I started playing golf 25 years ago to see the course has matured very nicely. While we got our round done in less than 4 hours (3 hours and 50 mins), the ranger or water towel man was persistent on telling us to keep up the pace with the guys in front of us. Ummm, JaQa$$! the guys behind us are two hole behind. Move along. Don't kill my mood especially when I shot a 75 for the round! The food at the 19th hole was good and so was the service.
