About
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

Sub par
Greens are ok but the overall course conditions were sub standard..
Bad condition - steer clear
The fairways were horrible / hit a beautiful drive down the fairway to find the ball sitting in bare spots / same around the greens and the bunkers were the worst I’ve seen anywhere of late.
Breaks my heart
This course was the crown jewel of Sun City West, but it has some serious irrigation problems now. The course is either over watered and soggy in spots and mostly dead or dying in the majority of places. Thankfully, the greens are still watered. Unless they make a lot of irrigation improvements in a hurry, this once wonderful course may turn into a blight on the community.
Downhill
Hillcrest used to be amazing.
They've really let this course conditions go downhill. (I played here alot 15-20 years ago) There are very few discernable cart paths. There are no GPS or USB plugs on the carts. However, all of the staff were Great, friendly and accommodating.
Course need work
Greens were good.
Tees were marginal. Some haven’t been mowed in a few days.
Fairways were green and brown.
Cartpaths have potholes.
If you are off the fairway it is dirt or dead grass.
Great pace of play
Played right after a tournament. Basically had the course to ourselves. Great pace of play.
Meh
Tee box fairways greens in pretty good shape but rest of the course in rough shape. Not a $77 a round course.
Hillcrest
This used to be the show course in Sun City West even hosting a senior PGA event. Sorry to say it has gone down hill. The course conditions were not good; traps hard as concrete, bare spots all over course and green bare in some spots. Very disappointing from having played it 10 years ago.
Not worth the money.
Worth the money
Course was cheap. Really long which is hard to find for under 50$. Greens were green but anything off the green was mud or dirt. Place was pretty dead in the afternoon. Practically had the place to myself. Staff was very friendly. Well worth the money.
Fun par 5's
Fairways and greens in decent shape. No rough to speak of, so your ball is running to trouble if any. Bunkers are harder than the parking lot! I do enjoy the layout. 3 of the par 5's play around lakes, fun.
Slow play
You need a ranger out there moving people along there's three forces in front of me playing from the tips and they couldn't even hit it past women's teeth that's what makes Pace a place so long 6 hour round ridiculous
