Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

Great day out! I took my two kids. My daughter just rode in the cart. The other two singles with us were fun and we all had a great time together!

Somewhat improved?

I haven't played here in a few years. Friends decided to go back and give it a try. I will say it has somewhat improved, but still not great. Greens are still very hard. The ball bounces and rolls off. I generally hit high and my ball will usually stop very close to my ball mark. Not here. Greens do not putt true. The ball almost wobbles to the hole. Maybe it is from all the cleat marks from shoes as the course is very busy. Fairways vary. Some are ok, but others are dry with the grass cut too close so the ball just wanders around as it looses speed. Most times towards the edges near the hazards, so good shots are punished. Sand traps are just traps. No sand. Mostly just dirt and rocks. Bird droppings are everywhere. Be careful of the 14th hole par 3. The birds use this place as their toilet. It was almost completely covered in droppings.

Hidden Treasure

This course has the best layout, for recreational golfers. Plays long, even for short holes....water holes galore, big slick greens, that look like Astro turf. Well maintained!!

Wide fairways, that just make you only wish, you had 10 mph more club head speed.

It's a fun course, with a great staff

Hillcrest GC

Course was in decent shape. Greens were rolling well. My only complaint was when I got to the back nine it was very crowded and slow. I was told that the carts had to be back in by 5:45 and there was no was I would finish the round so I quit after 14 holes.

Hilcrest Sun City West

I played this course 47yrs ago with my dad. Love the layout and #13 ,is such a nice hole with the Palms and sand traps.

Staff not very pleasant they moved my tee time up and basically told me my tee time was earlier than my tee time showed in my email.

Other than that. I had nice people to play with and had a good time.

jim

Overall a fun course for the $$. The fairways greeens were great but the ruff was mostly dirt. It is also a bit difficult to get around since the way to the next hole is not clearly marked. Also the senior course is almost 6000 yards in length.

The fairways and greens were in great condition. Many of the greens are very challenging and that's great. My only complaint is the lack of cart paths and maintenance of the paths they have. Filling potholes would be great and wouldn't cost much.

The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. There seemed to be much barren hard pack ground around some greens though.

good shape, reasonable price

We hadn't golfed at Hillcrest for two years, and it was better than I remembered it. Approaches to greens were healthy and fairly soft compared to so many courses in the area that are hard ground or gravel. The pace was pretty good; we played 18 in about 4:15.

Fairways and greens in very good shape. Cart paths and outside areas in pretty rough shape. Overall look: A lot of areas have not been kept up very well. Price for play was very reasonable, considering the season.
