Kinross Golf Courses - The Bruce Course

About
Kinross Golf Club's Bruce course offer golfers staying in Perthshire near Gleneagles and St. Andrews an affordable, parkland option. Previously known as Kinross Golf Club's Red Course, it was relaunched in 2006 as Bruce (the name comes from a family that has owned an estate around Loch Leven for the last three centuries).
The Bruce course is 6,231 yards and plays to a par 73. Undulating greens, streams and ponds are spread throughout and a number of holes have views over Loch Leven to the hills beyond. You can catch those sites through glimpses of the tree-lined fairways, which are on all of the holes - a mixture of cherries, oaks, beech, ash, pine, larch and spruce.
The Bruce is considered the junior course at Kinross Golf Club, but that's in name only. Its reputation is anything but "junior." Par for the first nine holes is a whopping 39, which includes a run of four par 5s in six holes. The highlight of that stretch is the sixth, known as "the pond hole."
Kinross Golf Club has been in existence since 1888, but, like most courses in the area, the original course was lost to World War II. A new nine-hole course replaced it on a new site, which forms the first four and final five holes of the Bruce.
Visiting golfers, clubs and societies are all welcome and tee times can be reserved at weekends as well as weekdays. Special discounted green fees are available for the residents of both the Green Hotel and the Windlestrae Hotel.

Excellent Course
We palyed the Bruce Course, great layout, the course was in excellent condition. The staff in the Professional Shop were excellent and explained the layout of the course prior to teeing off. Thoroughly enjoyed our day, unable to review the off course amenities due to current restrictions. Would definitely visit again. Thank you.
Makes you think
Flattish course but many holes with dog legs (1 with a double) so you really have to think about lay up.
Given the Covid rubbish, the greens were in excellent condition.
Really friendly staff as well.
Great course, fantastic value
At the time of writing l will have played Both courses at Kinross within a week, both courses are in superb condition and the deal of 25 gbp per round is fantastic value for @ quality course.
Planning to play it again before end of the month, just a shame that the clubhouse is closed.
