Dumfries and County Golf Club
About
The Dumfries and County Golf Club is a privately owned parkland golf course situated on the outskirts of Dumfries. Bordered on one side by the Nith River, it offers spectacular views of the Nith Valley and surrounding countryside.
The USGA-standard greens are among the best in the area. Built on 89 acres, this golf course demands a high degree of course management to achieve a par of 69.
The fifth hole - Spion Kop - is named after the famous battle of the Boer War. The 374-yard par-4 starts from an elevated tee, with a second shot to an elevated green. The right-hand side is bordered by the Nith.
No. 15 is a 371-yard par-4 with a dogleg to the right. The second shot to a lower level green is protected by a massive tree named after legendary golfer and course designer James Braid.

A real hidden gem
This was the first time we had played this course. There are a few blind shots which made it tricky, but still really enjoyable and in excellent condition. All the staff we met were very friendly and the clubhouse is very nice too. We really enjoyed it!
good course in great condition
I have given this course 5 stars but that is because I have ignored the 1st hole which is an awful hole, and would be much better with the tee moved forward and played as a par 3. After that the course is very interesting with lots of undulations and greens perched in some great spots, making approach shots tricky but fair. The course was in excellent condition with brilliant greens, I would recommend playing it despite the truly awful 1st hole, the remaining 17 holes truly make up for it
Excellent course
Played this a few times and it never disappoints… great layout good challenge for all levels. Greens were running true and pretty quick.
If you are in and around Dumfries and looking for somewhere to play I’d highly recommend to come here.
Excellent condition
Courses was in great condition, greens were immaculate. Bit slow on first tee but 2 ball (man and youngish kid) in front of us let us play through at the second and it was plain sailing after that. Unfortunately didn't use the clubhouse as I had an appointment to get to but I'll use it next time because I will definitely be back.
Cracking course
My first time playing at Dumfries and County GC, a lovely sunny afternoon and the perfect way to spend just over three hours (plus an hour at the 19th) on a very well looked after golf course, a credit to the green keepers/staff and members who obviously take a lot of pride in their club. If you’re passing by or staying in the area I’d highly recommend stopping by for a round.
Pleasant course
Course in good condition. Not overly busy. Moderate difficulty. Fairly quiet so leisurely game.
Great track
Bring your power caddy unless your fit very undulating course but in beautiful
Condition at the moment
Lovely course in great condition
We enjoyed the course a lot, greens were in perfect condition and so was the rest of the course considering the recent weather
Amazing, Scotlands Golf at its best
A manicured parkland course. With a true mix of long, short, and challenging holes. The occasional blind drive but as the course is well signed you’ll never be lost.
The fairways and tee boxes are immaculate, and when you do eventually reach the greens, true, consistent, perfect and quick, everything you could want from a course.
Be on your A game though as the course takes no prisoners, each shot needs consideration and nothing is given freely.
Then club house has the friendliest staff around, happy smiley and fun, which rubs off on the membership who are happy (I would be if I were a member here), generous with their time and tips.
Our only tiny gripe is that the pro didn’t seem to have many tee times and certainly no deals, but a Quick Look on golf now got us a time we wanted and saved £15 over the shop price.
If you come to Dumfries for golf you are missing out if you don’t play the country club.
Had a great day today (I scored 20 playing off 6!) golf how it should be 🏌️♂️.
Love the course, just unfortunate with the weather and playing on winter greens. Pro was excellent and the whole course very friendly.
Course
Course in really good condition. Four holes had winter greens. Other than that could not fault anything. Will definitely be returning for another round. The food in the club house could not be faulted either really good value. Overall a really enjoyable experience.
5 star course
Blown away by just how great the condition of this course was given how much rain we’ve had lately, not the longest course in the world but would highly recommend it if your in the area, fantastic value, shame it’s not closer
Lovely Old Job
Nestled behind a residential area lies a this lovely golf course. Despite its modest length, we thoroughly enjoyed our time on its immaculate fairways and fast, accurate greens. The weather followed the typical patterns of September, with occasional heavy showers, yet it failed to diminish our delight. We didn't linger for post-game activities, but the clubhouse interior appeared inviting, the club shop was impressively well-supplied, and the staff were exceptionally friendly.
We will be revisiting in early summer next year to truly experience the course's challenges. This place earns a solid five-star rating.
