Lochmaben Golf Club
About
Famous for its wildlife and picturesque views of Kirk Loch, Lochmaben Golf Course presents a somewhat surreal experience to any golfer.
The attractive 18-hole parkland golf course occupies a historic area around Kirk Loch. Close by the second green is the site of Bruce Castle. On the third hole, golfers can see the huge defensive ditch, which helped protect the castle.
The par-70 course's signature hole is the 120-yard eighth hole, which requires a tee shot across a corner of Kirk Loch.
Lochmaben is an ancient town four miles west of Lockerbie on the main road between it and Dumfries. Its location is unusual as it is hemmed in by three separate lochs: Castle Loch to the south, Kirk Loch to the southwest, and Mill Loch to the northwest. Lochmaben's origins date back at least as far as the building of the castle by the Bruce family in the 1160s.

Add Loch Maben to your List of Courses.
Certainly a round at Loch Maben Golf Course is a must for anyone passing through Dumfries and Galloway. While Car Park looked busy there were in fact two car parks. Check out course location before traveling as Golf Club sign is not clear from main road. Course was well prepared in advance of the new Season. Greens slightly soft but understandable after recent rainfall. Bunkers looked and played terrific. You will use every club in your bag on this great layout. There was a real buzz about the club. Unfortunately catering was closed after our round at 3.00pm. so book ahead if you wish to eat. Add Loch Maben to your list of Courses To Play.
tidy course
Not the first time we have played Lochmaben and as always found the course to be in good condition , greens very good and a pleasure to play.
Lovely day out at Loch Maben
Well appointed parkland course around a small loch. Very well llooked after. Jnive variety of holes. Following a big club competition so pace of play was slow on the day we played. Other golfers very friendly
Lovely course
We were lucky to play on a very sunny day and the course and surrounding area were beautiful. The course has a great variety of holes making it really interesting and was in really good condition. The greens were superb - really fast! Staff and local members were so friendly and welcoming. After our game we were tempted to eat in the clubhouse and the food was excellent and really good value. Will definitely return.
Great Layout
On Holiday in Dumfries
Couldn’t resist the call of a round of golf
Lochmaben was the perfect choice
A course in pristine condition
Not the most difficult challenge, but perfect to challenge the average club gofer
Green staff, members and catering staff all very helpful and friendly
5* recommendation
Lovely setting around Kirk Loch
Played here several years ago and decided to visit again. What a great setting and such a lovely course. Well maintained fairways and greens no wonder so many visitors to the area return. If you do play be sure to visit the 19th where you can sample a very reasonable menu in a very friendly atmosphere.
Great course. Not to be overlooked.
We played this as a 4ball and thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience.
The cook made our meals (claire) and they were very cheap but superb quality.
Greens were
the best out of the 3 we played in our trip (county/galloway)
Course is in great condition and we weren't held up once. Weather was great, staff are very friendly and the playing member were very courteous when letting us through.
100% will be back.
Stunning place
A challenge for any golfer. Well maintained course with fantastic views and some tricky holes . You will always receive A friendly welcome and great hospitality in the clubhouse. Well worth a visit
Fantastic great course . Will be back next year
Great course and layout . Weather made it even better . Great value for money booked through teeofftimes
Lochmaben Stroll
After a recommendation to play I decided to try the course. Booked in with friendly staff. Weather was warm and dry. Course has been exposed to the intense heat of the summer. Some greens were a little bumpy due to the weather however most were fine and true. My good lady (handicap33) handled the course and scored well. We enjoyed the course and would return with no hesitation.
Great course
Great course played it three times this year on winter greens the only downside but that’s why the greens are great in the summer . Good food and friendly staff
