About
Girvan Golf Course is one of eight fine courses owned and managed by South Ayrshire Council. Although a municipal course it provides the only golf in Girvan and there is a thriving independent local club with the members having facilities within the municipal clubhouse.
The course, lying on the northern outskirts of the town, is unusual in that it is divided into two distinct parts. The opening eight holes are pure links, immediately adjacent the coastline, and the second ten holes are parkland. This latter part has the added problem of the river, from which the town takes its name, winding through the land. Care should be taken on the ninth tee, as this hole is named after the gentleman who stepped back to admire a good drive only to take an unscheduled dip in the river.

Nice course with amazing views
Very enjoyable course being half links half parklands. The first 8 holes just have spectacular views, the actual holes on the first 8 are just ok holes i think the views are what make them, then across the road for the parklands last 10 holes. I actually prefer the last 10 holes but then you dont have the sea views but overall a very enjoyable course.
Great mixed links & parkland course
Great mix of coastal links and parkland course. Links was interesting but playable for an average player like me. Parkland course in good condition but some tricky greens. Very enjoyable. Friendly staff at starters hut + glad I could hire a trolley
Great wee links
A gem of a wee course and well worth the money. Only thing that faults it is clubhouse not open but heard someone is taking over it next month so hopefully it will be open for refreshments etc. First 8 holes are links with wonderful views, rest of the course is inland and in great condition. Not the longest of courses but tricky on some holes. Will definitely be back soon.
Burnt to a crisp
Girvan has an interesting and quirky layout. The first 8 holes are typical links. The remainder are more like a parkland track. The greens were slow but well cared for. The rest of the course was burned out because of the long spell of hot dry weather. As a result the distances were tricky to judge. A very enjoyable day and I will certainly plan to return.

First 8 links holes great beautiful vies out to sea them over thy e road to complete on parkland course fantastic day will be back
Short but good quirky course
First 8 holes are links style with incredible views of Ailsa Craig and Arran and very enjoyable if not a little short followed by a cross over to parkland. Some really nice challenging holes, in particular the 17th. Very friendly staff and players all round the course. Never felt in rushed or held up so pace felt about right. Club house was closed at the time but would recommend this course to anyone for a nice quiet round.

1st time played really a good course in great nick ... weather was good also a bit of wind but could not fault it ... starter was very pleasant and helpful only thing was the clubhouse was closed a shame ...
Girvan
Good course, was superb condition with staff doing a great job, a little slow but overall good pace, pity clubhouse shut, but with the current situation understandable, would recommend and would certainly play again
Pace of play from a three ball playing in front of us was horrendous. We had two, two balls just in front of us and one of them gave up after 16 and we were still held up for the last two holes. Course itself is pretty good. Front 8 is a links course back 10 is a parkland course. Very short if we weren’t held up I reckon we could have been round it in 2 hours 45. Some hard little holes though. Well worth the visit and would return. Not sure it is worth the £20 South Ayrshire want for it (just because it is so short) when you look at other courses you can pick up on golf now for that price.
A round of two halves
The first 8 holes of this course were great links type holes by the windy Irish Sea! They were thoroughly enjoyable even in the wet and windy conditions. All 8 holes were in excellent condition given the amount of recent rain.
The second half of the round (10 holes) are parkland and are located over the road from the first half of the course. It was much wetter over here but the greens still played true.
Holes 9-14 were pretty monotonous before finishing with some trickier holes on 15-18.
A decent short course and still worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Must play at least once.
Smashing little course with stunning views. Don't be put off with half links half parkland. The inland part has enough nice holes make it enjoyable.
Views alone are worth every penny!!!
Played Girvan for the first time yesterday and was so happy to be playing a Linx course for the first 8 holes and super parkland for the rest for an absolute bargain.
I would recommend this to anyone.
Just a shame that the weather was so good.
wonderful and enjoyable
The First 8 Holes are on the Coastline with stunning views of Ailsa Craig the 9th and the back 9 is inland if windy then the first 8 holes are challenging my only concern was the state of the bunkers seemed rock hard when you are in one and no rakes but i put it down to Covid19 apart from that this is a beautiful course well kept and i will be coming back
Always a joy to play this course. Friendly members and staff, and the condition of the course after a heavy rainfall, was exceptional.
