Dundonald Links
About
Designed by Kyle Phillips, one of the game's top architects, Dundonald has been recognized as one of the best new courses in the world (Robb Report 2004). The 7,100-yard, par-72 golf course is located about an hour's drive southwest of Loch Lomond and five minutes from Prestwick International Airport.
Dundonald's longest hole is the 560-yard 18th. From the tee, golfers must avoid the three bunkers on the right. Cross bunkers await a second shot that is hit less than perfect. The green is guarded at the front by an imposing ditch, and pot bunkers await any shot hit long.

Exceptional all round
Friendly welcome from the Pro in the club shop who told her where to go and what facilities were available. We went to the range for a bit then the putting green. Endless balls to hit from the grass as well. It was 23rd December. No frost so full greens were on and you didn’t need to use a Matt in the fairways. Only par 3’s were on mats. The young man in the starting office was brilliant. So full of energy. Big smiles and hyped us up for the round. Couldn’t have a better welcome to tee off.
Round in Dec25
After weeks of rain this course was in fantastic condition especially in December, the only minor gripe was the bunkers as they are extremely difficult to play out of when the sand is wet.
Links heaven
This course never disappoints. This is the 3rd time I’ve played it and I will be playing it again soon! Greens are in great condition for winter time. Staff are friendly and food was great. Love the place!
Value for money
Considering recent weather and the amount of rain, the course played well, and still managed to come off the course as clean as when we started. I’d rather pay a little extra than play in a bog. Enjoyed my day
Must play
Great staff, great course, great facilities. A must-play if you get the opportunity.
The way golf course should be
From the moment you walk in the doors of the clubhouse there a warm friendly atmosphere. Good warm up range / chipping/ putting areas . laughs and joking with the starter and straight into a tough but fair course. Considering all the terrible weather lately the course was in phenomenal condition. I’ll be back again for sure . Saunas in the locker rooms a nice bonus to warm up again .
All the staff were fantastic
Smashing Course highly recommend
Third time playing at Dundonald and wasn't disappointed course was fantastic and would highly recommend it. For me not one bad hole on the course and all areas were in fabulous condition ❤️❤️👌
Course good, greens not so.
I would have expected greens to be a lot better for a links course charging a high green fee. The rest of the experience was good apart from slow play for the whole back 9.
Return to Dundonald Links
Played it three years ago during summer…. Really impressed & anticipate it hosting Ryder Cup in future.
Despite it being only 3C temperature & wind gusting over 20mph, it didn’t disappoint!
Will be back again sometime
Greens
I know it’s winter but greens were very bumpy and hairy. Good course though, good general condition. Will go back again for sure but hoping the greens improve
Great Course
The course based on time of year was excellent, greens very sandy but I appreciate work needs to be carried out, though didn’t really affect the roll of the ball.
The only downside was coming up behind a members four ball on the 10th hole, i then proceeded to follow them all the way to the 18th green. This was very disappointing especially after the 1st tee where a members four ball, let me tee off a head of them. The course was very quiet, so there was no reason not to let me through.
Definitely recommend playing there.
Great day out
It was amazing what a day out regret not taking a pair of shorts with me for the steam room afterwards the facilities are out of this world
Played Dundonald on Saturday. Mint condition, layout and views stunning, greens were a little slower than i remember but still ran true and it is February! For £75 its a bargain
Superb for January
The course was in unbelievable condition for January, highly recommend at winter rates.
Well worth a vidit
Very helpful and welcoming staff. Course was set up well for the time of year. Half way house was open and friendly. Overall an excellent day’s golf
Scotland's newest resort course
Under new owners, Dundonald has taken the difficult steps from being a solid links to an exceptional one. The new accommodations are much needed in the region and ideal for golf groups who want to play the trophy links of the Ayrshire Coast. Dundonald, a past host of men's and women's Scottish Opens, is a demanding test with several burns impacting multiple holes. Many of the greens are propped up, making running shots up onto them difficult. The immaculate conditions were a treat to play. The addition of a halfway house and the very impressive new clubhouse has taken the whole experience up to five-star levels. Make sure to plan to stay for lunch or dinner. The food might be better than the course, and that's saying something.
