Troon Links - Darley
About
The first Troon Municipal Darley Golf Course dates from about 1910, though the current one, with its original bogey par of 71 opened June 9, 1951.
Troon Links - Darley plays shorter than Lochgreen, meaning a tight round of golf with heather and gorse clogging the edges of several fairways, and an easy enough start makes the tests between the fifth and 15th holes all the more frustrating.
Shoot straight on Troon Links - Darley, as, in addition to the heather and gorse, there's plenty of whin.

Excellent municipal course in Troon
Had a great round at Troon Links Darley. The course layout, in particular holes 4 to 16, is excellent. Whilst not long the layout maximises the use of the land and the natural flora including heather and gorse so the course requires strategy and straight hitting rather than brawn. The greens had plenty of grass on and would have been slick if cut a little shorter. Unfortunately some of the fairways and tees had lots of divots in but resources will be limited as the council greenkeepers are looking after three courses. I thought at £50 the course represented good value and I was neither held up or pushed from behind when I started mid afternoon.
Don't waste your money - worst condition of a course I've seen.
Play this course regularly and the condition is abysmal. One of the worst kept tracks I've ever seen.
No course management to keep the course in playable condition, seen shorter rough at some courses than what the fairways are, no work done to fill divots (clearly for years) weeds all over the place, some holes are really bad and no sand in bunkers and broom allowed to go wild all over the course. Greens are ok, given the wet winter but so so slow.
Par 3 7th for most in unplayable. They have this big sand area that if you miss right and go right you've really no shot. Your likely to end up a couple of inches underground. Similar at the long per 5 9th if you go right off the tee.
Cost of food in clubhouse far from competitive with places.
The game which didn’t happen.
Unfortunately I couldn’t play on the day booked so sent an email cancelling the booking several days before the day. Somehow the email was not accepted and my money was not refunded as per the cancellation policy.
Something to remember when booking a round.
First time playing
Ive played fullarton and lochgreen a few times however darley is the best and most trickiest of them all. The layout is tough with tight fairways and danger everywhere. Greens were immaculate and proper links golf
Darley
Bit cold but course had full greens on and no mats. Happy days
Weather did not impact Darley
Course was in great condition considering half of scotland courses were closed due to frost then heavy rain fall.
Great course. Amazing considering current conditions!
Only course in the collection that remained open during a period of really poor weather. Staff done amazingly to accommodate players without impacting pace of play.
Great quality with challenging holes throughout!
Good course
This course is a challenge if you want to challenge yourself it is also a good layout
This course has a unique layout
Very unique layout as most holes are over a road. Very good condition and some very nice holes
Fantastic
Absolutely loved this golf experience from you cross the road this course grabs your, waste bunkers fantastic greens this had it all so good we went back on our way home to experience It again ...
Don’t pay full price
Seems way to over priced for the conditions of the course, litter and usage clothes(find boxers on one of the holes) all round the course and divots not replaced. A busy place so can’t get as much attention but felt massively over priced for our experience
Review of Troon Darley
In this dry spell the greens were watered and in excellent condition.
First time playing Troon Darley. We enjoyed our game but found it a challenging course. Hope to play it again in the future now that we are familiar with the layout.
