Troon Links - Darley

About
The first Troon Municipal Darley Golf Course dates from about 1910, though the current one, with its original bogey par of 71 opened June 9, 1951.
Troon Links - Darley plays shorter than Lochgreen, meaning a tight round of golf with heather and gorse clogging the edges of several fairways, and an easy enough start makes the tests between the fifth and 15th holes all the more frustrating.
Shoot straight on Troon Links - Darley, as, in addition to the heather and gorse, there's plenty of whin.

Fantastic
Absolutely loved this golf experience from you cross the road this course grabs your, waste bunkers fantastic greens this had it all so good we went back on our way home to experience It again ...
Don’t pay full price
Seems way to over priced for the conditions of the course, litter and usage clothes(find boxers on one of the holes) all round the course and divots not replaced. A busy place so can’t get as much attention but felt massively over priced for our experience
Review of Troon Darley
In this dry spell the greens were watered and in excellent condition.
First time playing Troon Darley. We enjoyed our game but found it a challenging course. Hope to play it again in the future now that we are familiar with the layout.
20th May
Great course layout, but course was untidy with a lot of rubbish on the course and the tee boxes were littered with old tees

A shame
A shame as I was really excited to be playing Darley for the 1st time. Was a cracking day and course looked good but it took 2and half hours to play 9 holes. Ended up walking off after 13 as I couldn’t wait any longer at each tee box the pace of play was so poor. I enjoyed the layout of the course and it was a challenge so that pace of play didn’t help much. The greens also weren’t great condition which was disappointing. I think maybe a weekday or off peak time the course would be more enjoyable. I would still recommend people play it but with these things in mind.
Greens Maintenance
Course not the best condition I have played it. Greens scarified and sanded.
Beautifully difficult
First time playing this course, completely different to the other two Troon courses; Lochgreen and Fullarton,
Staff were great at check in as always, excellently kept fairways and greens, a few of them had been aerated but can only expect this at this time of year.
Lots of tight fairways and undulation with very little room for error and definitely a course suited for the advanced player. Many adjacent fairways cannot be seen due to the undulations of the landscape.
It wasn’t busy by any means, I played in the early afternoon and couldn’t see anyone less than 5 holes ahead of me.
My only annoyance was the amount of dog walkers, the majority of them kept to the side of the fairways but given how tight they were it was still enough to annoy me. It felt like every hole between 3 - 17 I was meeting another dog walker and waiting for them to clear. Then on the 17 an entire school of children (including teachers) cut across the side of the fairway and many children were standing in the green so I had to wait for the to move, then again a group of kids walking down the 18th fairway.
On the whole, a very nice course, and in the grand scheme of things I only had to wait a total of 10 minutes for people to move the entire 18 holes so nothing major, just minor annoyances that the club can’t really do much about.
Great course and excellent value
Played the Darley Course as an alternative to my own inland course which has been wet all winter. Course was quiet and we played at our own pace and enjoyed the layout of the course and more importantly the dry conditions and superb greens for this time of the year. Played off temporary tees which is not ideal, but understandable. We had a great time, helped by the sunshine and the condition of the course, definitely recommend playing here and will do again.
Nice clubhouse and welcome from the staff.
