Great course
Great course with some great views. Can't wait to come back again in the summer
A bit of a let down
Was looking forward to playing this after hearing it was a good course.
No mention of sandy cored Greens anywhere.
Also 2 of the greens were on Winter Greens which I know happens but frustratingly there is a maintenance board at the start of your round (Picture attached) to post this. They didn’t update it sadly.
Golf on the edge of the Clyde
Arrived to find the Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming, great start. Course in good condition; greens sand and spiked but expected at this time of year. Greens still really fast. Course is open enough for high handicaps while proving a challenge to bring home a score for those with less strokes available. Speed of play was just right,; a full course of players and still got around in 3 hours playing at my pace. I didn’t have time to use the clubhouse, but it was open for food or a drink. Thank you to all the Staff looking after Renfrew Golf Club I enjoyed my afternoon.
Loggie 8 Ball
On a rain threatened day we were all optimistic about playing conditions.
The golfing Gods were on our side. The sun was shining and we all turned up looking forward to playing Renfrew Golf. We had our track and trace down and proceeded to the 1st Tee.
The sky was starting to darken and spittles of rain we’re dropping. That didn’t deter us. It then started to pour down.(but still warm)
The course was a little bit wet but we carried on. The course was easy walking with some long par 4s and we’ll laid out. The fairways were tree lined but the fairways opened out.
We all had a great day and are looking forward to another day out.
I would recommend this lovely parkland course to anyone who loves a challenge and a nice flat walk.
Good day Out
We were quite a slow four ball but no presuure to hurry on and enjoyed our game.
Nice course friendly members
Visited the course after a couple of days of rain (including one day of torrential rain) and found the course to be quite waterlogged in places. The greens looked good and had reasonable pace, but you could feel your heels sinking into the green as you stood to putt. One player in my group even had a ball plug on the green. I really think that play should have been suspended for the whole day to avoid damage to the greens.
The layout is nice and tight with some well designed holes and the members all seemed friendly.
Long and straight
Course was in reasonable condition with the exception of the bunkers. Frankly some were very poor, what seemed like soil instead of sand.
I get you should nt be in them but you would like a fair chance of getting out.
Well worth a visit
The course is fairly long with tree lined fairways which are fairly forgiving. Thankfully the rough below the trees has been cut back so you don,t spend to long looking for way ward shots. The course is in good condition, however there are several bunkers which are almost unplayable due to the lack of sand.( and there are a lot of bunkers).
The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming , there is a large building site adjacent to the course and the carpark was fairly full. It felt like you were parking on site but this was no major problem
Enjoyable
Staff were very welcoming to us as visitors. Took timr to show us where to go and advised us of on course maintenance. Course was in great condition and pace of play was good considering the course was busy. No complaints, an enjoyable round with the old man!
I would recommend this course to anyone great layout greens were excellent only drawback was some of the tees where a bit bare members and staff couldn’t have been more helpful it was joy to play and good value
Good course but best when dry
On arrival no starter and pro shop closed
Had to find first tee and get cards ourselves
Course a bit up and down with narrow fairways and trees biggest hazard
Weather was dry but course still a bit wet
Great course
Superb course long dogleg par 4 staff very helpful to non members need to straight off the tee
Great potential
Compared to other courses I have played recently this course was in poor condition. A shame really because it is a very good layout with a lot of very interesting holes. Greens had just been sanded which didn’t help but they looked poor. Fairways and bunkers were in a very average condition.
Staff and members friendly and helpful but there was no catering staff in the very well presented clubhouse.
Renfrew gc
Enjoyed my round at Renfrew, course was better than I expected given the time of year all the greens were on bar one. Only issue I had was on the 17th. I had a greenkeeper working in the bunker next to the green, he looked up and saw me waiting a couple of times but continued to strim and then rake the bunker I picked my ball up after waiting ten minutes and moved on. Overall excellent day spent on the golf course in the middle of February.
Excellent course spoiled by slow play
4 1/2 hour round due to slow play, 2 four balls held up the course massively and was all over the place and refused to let people play through, the two 2 balls ahead of us and between the four balls walked off after 9 & 10 it was that bad as we were all backed up from 5.
Apart from that course was good wet and soft in places due to recent weather but in all honesty could have been a lot worse, good layout, well kept but if your not straight off the tree your in trouble
