Wet quagmire- AVOID

Standard poor ‘hotel course’. Soaking wet, muddy quagmire. No signs and ended up getting lost somewhere between 4-5 so just played another couple of holes then went home! Practice areas are rubbish, staff don’t care.

Even if you’re staying at the hotel, play elsewhere- honestly!!!

Terribly kept greens and fairways

The greens were an absolute riot. Needs TLC

VISUALLY you might not find nicer holes than the par 3s

Lovey back drop but the course itself is in some serious need of improvement

Carts absolutely should not be allowed on the fairways or greens.

Loads of tire tracks all through the course

Genuinely gutted

Slow

Even with majority of players using buggies we were waiting upwards of 7 minutes at every tee

Greens weren't in the best condition

On a few holes it looked like someone had drove over the green in a buggy

Course is a Toilet

The course lacks proper maintenance, tee boxes are ripped to pieces, apparently you don’t fix divots on the greens too. With proper care and up keep this could be a decent course. Course layout is all over the place, no signs to guide you to the next tee. Some holes are quite far away from the next. There are better courses out there for the money, for instance Troon Links is the same cost and conditions and course are night and day better than this. Safe to say I won’t be back.

The longest day

A course I used to really like but has really gone downhill. Course condition is poor. Pace of play terrible 3:40 to reach 12 tee by which time I had ran out of patience. For £30 there are plenty of courses in area that give much better value.

Great course, just needs some TLC!

Staff are always very welcoming. Facilities and local amenities are excellent due to the hotel / spa.

Challenging enough course to test you and keep it interesting, but not so much as to put you off. Even for a bogey golfer there are plenty par opportunities alongside the stunning scenery that accompanies the course. Could do with some attention to return it to its former glory, but at less than 30 it’s great value compared to what others are asking currently, Would recommend.

Westerwood

We played the Westerwood in a glorious sunny day. The course was in average conditions however the rough throughout the course was extreme and made finding balls almost impossible.

A number of holes require blind shots which didn’t help your chances given the rough.

In addition, signage was pretty poor throughout with quite extensive walks between holes. A buggy would be recommended. In addition there were very few bins on the tees and a number of blind burns / obstacles which aren’t detailed on the scorecard. As well as a distinct lack of bridges to cross these burns / ravines.

Good round

The course is good but in need of maintenance, round spoilt by a 5 ball taking ages to play each hole and obviously unaware or not caring about the rules on the score card, unable to get any reply when trying to contact the club house.

Nice resort course

Have played this course on a number of occasions and condition is very much weather dependent. Was in really good condition when i played although greens were needing cut. One thing to understand is that this a long walk and quite hilly. New hole at #13 over water is a good addition...but the walk from #12 green tests you. Front 9 (Seve Ballesteros design i understand) is better.

All in all a very nice course, good value and views and seeing light aircraft taking off from nearby airfield.

Great looking course

The course has some great looking holes and scenery. Big issue with the fairways retaining water, played here multiple times across different times of year and it’s always the same. Some of the pathways between holes are sorely in need of maintenance. Most of the greens seem to be in an average condition at best with a few in a poor state.
