Great Layout but very poor condition

This could be a wonderful golf course, lots of challenging holes and a few hidden water hazards. There are a number of long walks between green and tee all of which could be forgiven if the course was in great condition. The greens were very slow and spongy, lots of hard baked bear areas around the greens and poorly maintained bunkers.

Come on Westerwood, make the effort, add the required investment and turn this wonderful layout into the gem of a course it could be!

Nice Course with fantastic views of the Campsie Hills. The Course was in good condition and quiet so I wasn't held up to much.

Greens Unplayable

An absolutely lovely course let down badly by unplayable greens.

The greens need urgent reparative work to bring them up to standard - a real shame as the course is both beautiful and challenging with a few really standout holes.

Well kept lovely course

We played here very early in the morning and almost had the course to ourselves. It is a lovely well kept course in a great condition. It was probably a bit too advanced for a relatively poor golfer like me but that is no slight on the course at all. I found the fairways a touch narrow, the greens a bit smaller and the rough a bit deeper than the usual municipal courses that I am used to but I suppose that is to be expected at a better more advanced course. There were a couple of really tricky pin positions on or near the crest of a hill on the green which again, is probably too advanced for me but could even turn a birdie chance into a bogey for an advanced golfer in my opinion.

I had seen a few comments about soggy fairways etc. We played on a drizzly morning in a wet week and the course drainage was absolutely perfect, didn’t have a single squelch underfoot so I’m guessing a lot of hard work has been carried out on the course.

I’ll certainly be back once my standard improves a bit to match this course. Many thanks

Value for money

At £20 a round I thought this course was amazing value for money. I tricky course to play but wouldn't be put off as a beginner myself I would still say enjoyable. Course was unbelievably well kept but if I had to say one bad thing is some greens and fairways hold the water alot and make it unplayable at times, but is you booked it on a nice day it would be great. Would definitely recommend to other golfers and will be returning myself. Staff in course reception were very welcoming and helpful.

Four ball at westerwood

Really scenic course but I think it is the wrong time of year to play the course. Very wet and soggy under foot. But apart from that it’s an excellent course v

Good Course - Amazing Value

Another good visit to Westerwood. I really enjoy the layout of the course and the good number of interesting holes. The course is in great condition presently.

My only issue was the pin placement on the 9th this visit. Given the hot dry conditions and the firmness of the greens I though positioning the pin on the very crest of a fairly steep slope made this green resemble a crazy golf hole.

The course represents outstanding value.

Hi there,

Thanks for all of your positive comments. The course is certainly getting a lot of rave reviews at the moment.

The 9th pin position has been rectified......it was clearly bordering on impossible, so apologies for that one! Not to be repeated.

Cheers,

Daryn

Disgusting

It gives me no joy as a previous member saying this, but the course needs to be shut down or vast sums of money invested.

Course condition at present is disgusting. Essentially 18 flags put in areas of grass that are ever so slightly more trimmed and ever so slightly less waterlogged than the rest of the land. It looks like this course has been left to rot over winter. Greens pathetic. The first green is still a patchwork quilt of a green, the same it was six years ago. Other greens in similar condition. Fairways absolutely saturated with water., literally no spot to pick and place. Really is sad to see. The drainage was the reason I left the course, however despite the challenges it always was well looked after. Doesn't seem to be the case anymore

Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback. I'm astonished frankly with your comments however. The course is in the best condition it has been in for a long, long time - so much so that some of our members who have been here from when it opened have commented that the greens are the best they've seen them........ever!

If you'd like to send me an email to golf@dbhglasgowwesterwood.com, I will try and give you some relevant feedback on what we've been doing and our plans moving forward. I can also get you up for a game to see if it was just a bad day?

Long course

I do like the course and the overall condition was ok. But I had a few major issues with it.

The tee off boxes are shocking the rough is an absolute joke and needs cut back as the minute you're ball goes in you can almost guarantee its a dropped shot.

Unfortunately for this I won't be back this year. But the biggest concern was how the greens play. I've never seen a green spiked as much. So much so the ball bounces so bad that unless you're a few feet from the hole you won't be one putting

Worth a visit.

Good course with some lovely holes. Few tricky ones with dog legs. Rough too unforgiving for high handicappers like my Dad and I. I’d recommend hiring a buggy as quite a walk.

Hi there,

Many thanks for your comment. The rough is next on the agenda to get thinned out and cut back....... Hope to see you again once this work has been completed.
