Golfer Reviews
Need to up your game
Hotel looking tired and understaffed.
Poor signage throughout and little help from staff to navigate from golf side to restaurant side.
So much potential dying a slow death.
Westerwood
Could be a great course with a bit of investment in greens.
Good day, good course
Spoiled by a very slow 4 ball, 4 neds throwing clubs after poor shots. Caused a bit of a backlog with no one prepared to challenge them so made for a 5 amd a half hour round. Can’t fault the course in any way as they obviously can’t tell who the muppets are before you go out.
Enjoyable Sunday afternoon
Enjoyed the day out. Take loads of balls as the rough is completely unforgiving
Ok
Very quiet which was great played 11 holes in an just over an hour, finished in just over 2. The course wasn't looking great.
Great Layout but very poor condition
This could be a wonderful golf course, lots of challenging holes and a few hidden water hazards. There are a number of long walks between green and tee all of which could be forgiven if the course was in great condition. The greens were very slow and spongy, lots of hard baked bear areas around the greens and poorly maintained bunkers.
Come on Westerwood, make the effort, add the required investment and turn this wonderful layout into the gem of a course it could be!
Nice Course with fantastic views of the Campsie Hills. The Course was in good condition and quiet so I wasn't held up to much.
Greens Unplayable
An absolutely lovely course let down badly by unplayable greens.
The greens need urgent reparative work to bring them up to standard - a real shame as the course is both beautiful and challenging with a few really standout holes.
Well kept lovely course
We played here very early in the morning and almost had the course to ourselves. It is a lovely well kept course in a great condition. It was probably a bit too advanced for a relatively poor golfer like me but that is no slight on the course at all. I found the fairways a touch narrow, the greens a bit smaller and the rough a bit deeper than the usual municipal courses that I am used to but I suppose that is to be expected at a better more advanced course. There were a couple of really tricky pin positions on or near the crest of a hill on the green which again, is probably too advanced for me but could even turn a birdie chance into a bogey for an advanced golfer in my opinion.
I had seen a few comments about soggy fairways etc. We played on a drizzly morning in a wet week and the course drainage was absolutely perfect, didn’t have a single squelch underfoot so I’m guessing a lot of hard work has been carried out on the course.
I’ll certainly be back once my standard improves a bit to match this course. Many thanks
Value for money
At £20 a round I thought this course was amazing value for money. I tricky course to play but wouldn't be put off as a beginner myself I would still say enjoyable. Course was unbelievably well kept but if I had to say one bad thing is some greens and fairways hold the water alot and make it unplayable at times, but is you booked it on a nice day it would be great. Would definitely recommend to other golfers and will be returning myself. Staff in course reception were very welcoming and helpful.
Last minute game
Course was good condition despite recent wet weather.
Thanks for your feedback - greatly appreciated.
The drainage work we have been carrying out is certainly having a positive effect on the course.
See you again soon hopefully,
Daryn
