Rating 68.6

Forget the golf, visit Kinghorn Golf Club for the views. Okay, maybe you don't want to forget the golf altogether, but you'll certainly want to pack a camera along with your golf clubs. Located in Fife, this 18-hole links golf course plays with a backdrop of the Firth of Forth. From the course you can see the Forth Bridge, Edinburgh and its landmarks, and Bass Rock.

The course at Kinghorn Golf Club is 5,166 yards and a par 65. You get tested right away on No. 2, a 219-yard par 3 that's trickier than it looks, what with an uphill shot that's normally straight into the wind. No. 3, another par 3, offers not a metaphoric wall but a literal one. Your tee shot has to clear it and stop on the green.

There are no par 5s at Kinghorn, but maybe there should be. The par 4s waver from the short - a 262-yard sixth that relies on you hitting your drive to the right place and your second shot accurately - and the ridiculously long, like the 462-yard eighth. Here you have to hit it long, but avoid the out of bounds on the left and hold on the sloping fairway.

Eight and No. 13 are generally considered the hardest at Kinghorn Golf Club. Thirteen - nicknamed "Lang Whang" - is a 439-yard par 4. The length is manageable, it's the "hitting into the wind" part that makes it tough. You finish on 18, the menacingly named "Cryin' Hill," a challenging 196-yard par 3.

Kinghorn Golf Club was founded in 1887, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland. Starting as a nine-hole course, the final nine were finalized in 1947.

Real Gem

A tough evening round with some gusting wind added to the fun. Greens which will test everyone but before you get that chance making the right shot selection is vital

Shocking

Booked a T time for 12:20, drove a hour from Glasgow to find the course closed.

Why accept payment for T times and not have the course open is beyond me

Kinghorn GC

Excellent course, with stunning views over the Forth.

Clubhourse staff were excellent.

This course may not be the most challenging course on the Fife circuit but there are at least 6 very unique holes which makes this a course well worth a play, if nothing else the scenery and friendly atmosphere is worth it alone.

Great Value

Noticed a deal on GolfNow and played with a mate. Great value for money, great views and a tricky short course.

Due to the shortness of the course and some shared fairways this caused the play to be slow at times.

Will definitely look to at arranging a larger outing with friends.

A little gem

Played Kinghorn on a windy day….. which is fairly normal for the course. Although not a long course, it presents challenges and enjoyment to all categories of golfers.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Would happily play this little gem again.

Good course

The course is in great condition for the time of year. Bit disappointed that we had to use mats on fairways as this had not been highlighted. The clubhouse was also closed on a Tuesday.

Pitch & Putt

Played when it was cold so ground was hard. Winter greens and winter tees were being used. Winter greens were poor and regulation hole on a fairway that wasn’t cut much different to the rest of the fairway meant any decent golf was out of the question. Clubhouse wasn’t open either so poor amenities. Course is short so was like a pitch and putt. The 18th was a joke and I could have used my putter. Not a fan of the layout. A lot of holes cross each other so players in front and behind need to wait.

Amazing views however but sadly not my type of course.

Also £17 for playing winter greens and tee’s is poor value for money. Golf Now need to be more involved when winter green and tees are on. We also had to play with a mat. I ended up hitting from the rough instead.
