Forget the golf, visit Kinghorn Golf Club for the views. Okay, maybe you don't want to forget the golf altogether, but you'll certainly want to pack a camera along with your golf clubs. Located in Fife, this 18-hole links golf course plays with a backdrop of the Firth of Forth. From the course you can see the Forth Bridge, Edinburgh and its landmarks, and Bass Rock.

The course at Kinghorn Golf Club is 5,166 yards and a par 65. You get tested right away on No. 2, a 219-yard par 3 that's trickier than it looks, what with an uphill shot that's normally straight into the wind. No. 3, another par 3, offers not a metaphoric wall but a literal one. Your tee shot has to clear it and stop on the green.

There are no par 5s at Kinghorn, but maybe there should be. The par 4s waver from the short - a 262-yard sixth that relies on you hitting your drive to the right place and your second shot accurately - and the ridiculously long, like the 462-yard eighth. Here you have to hit it long, but avoid the out of bounds on the left and hold on the sloping fairway.

Eight and No. 13 are generally considered the hardest at Kinghorn Golf Club. Thirteen - nicknamed "Lang Whang" - is a 439-yard par 4. The length is manageable, it's the "hitting into the wind" part that makes it tough. You finish on 18, the menacingly named "Cryin' Hill," a challenging 196-yard par 3.

Kinghorn Golf Club was founded in 1887, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland. Starting as a nine-hole course, the final nine were finalized in 1947.

Hidden gem!

Chose to play this course as my friend and in try to play different courses as often as we can and I have to say it was an absolute delight!

Quirky holes and a very staggered course layout left every shot needing thought. I loved the course even though I didn't have my best golf this particular day, it didn't put me off and I will be back to play it ASAP!

If you get the opportunity to play kinghorn golf course you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to grab the chance!

I will absolutely be back to play it again and hopefully not be so surprised by the quick and subtle greens.

Great Day out

Starter was friendly, course was in good condition, for the time of year, greens like lightning, just a shame the clubhouse was not open, but did not spoil the golf and exercise.

Watch out for Dog walkers they seem to think they have right of way.......

Great surprise

Managed to get a tee time despite the course being very busy due to a cancellation. Enjoyed the course. A variety of holes and great views given the location. A couple of members let me through and were friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again.

Lovely Course

Super variety of challenges, course in excellent condition. Not one for lovers of the long game, as there are only two long Par 4s, with rest mainly a drive and a mid to short iron to the green. However, each hole is well designed, there are lots of elevation changes and the Par 3s are long.

The views out over the water are fantastic.

Great course & conditions.

Course was fantastic, even though it had been lashing of rain the previous day. Felt a bit dangerous at times playing across fairways but apart from that, lovely course.

Don’t bother.

Our “welcome” was up there with the worst ever. We stepped inside and the starter barked at us “ONE ONLY”. I said I just wanted the ladies “WAIT OUTSIDE.”. “ Can we get off earlier?” “NO”. Is there any food? “NO”. Abrupt and bordering on rude so they don’t want any visitors if that is how they are greeted. We played four other courses this trip and they all had some kind of catering on offer. This one has extremely limited bar and catering and judging from the operating times only for use by members. The course is near ugly housing and a very large school. The screaming from the school yard can be heard all over the course. Some nice holes except the 18th which is a joke. Many fairways, greens and tees cross over which is tedious. There are so many far better courses that welcome visitors so don’t bother with this one.

Kinghorn

Although a short course this was a very interesting and challenging layout.

There were hills / moguls bunkers/stone walls and streams to negotiate

The conditions were wet because of very heavy Rain t in the morning:.

Beautiful greens and awesome views.

Clubhouse facilities were limited because of the coronavirus situation.
