St. Croix National Golf Course is a championship course that is tucked away amongst rolling, wooded hills. This scenic course is one of western Wisconsin's hidden gems. The undulating landscape covered with mature trees can seem intimidating but the layout was designed with spacious fairways and bailout areas that act as an excellent balance to the more challenging elements. The well conditioned greens putt fast and true, acting as a perfect complement to the beautiful scenery. There are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play but it is the topography will truly test your accuracy as well as a variety of other skills. St. Croix National G.C. also boasts a driving range perched high above a valley that collects the practice shots. It is the perfect preparation for the challenges of the golf course.

Could be great - Expensive for 9 holes

Only played the front 9. This is an interesting and challenging course that could be wonderful if maintained better. However, the tee boxes were more dirt than grass, the fairways were fair and the greens were ok. It could be the dry conditions that are impacting this course, but other courses are in much better shape. For the price, I will play elsewhere.

Great Lay-Out

Great, picturesque track. Elevation changes and variety of holes are unique. Kind of like The Quarry up north in MN. Greens are in great shape, quick and true. Some fairways and tee boxes are scruffy. A groundskeeper explained that they had some issues with the irrigation system malfunctioning. On the mend now. Brady, in the golf shop, was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Also, very nice going out as a single at 7:00 AM and playing 18 holes in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

A course with a View

If you like elevated tee boxes and near mountain type views this is a course to play. If you are a world class athlete you could attempt to carry your own bag, but if not add the AED defibrillator attire. Was lucky enough to play with a local pair that gave the Do's and Don'ts for each tee, almost a requirement for a 1st timer. The GPS carts are some of the best at a public course that I have seen in quite a while. Greens are undulating and fairly quick. Green reading can be a challenge and don't be surprised when everything says left but it ends up leaking right. Being below the hole and/or on the right tier is critical to avoiding 3 putts. Fairways are reasonably flat for the rolling terrain.

Your math skills will be challenged with all the up hill and down hill approaches to the greens.

Fall golf here is a must, Heck with the score, the views will be Epic for any Wi/Mn golf!

Still champion of all courses I’ve played

I try to play this track twice a year. Once in the spring then fall. I have reviewed this course before and nothing has changed! It’s BEAUTIFUL! I can’t speak enough about his course! Staff is always super chill and friendly. Course is in great shape! Some things that has changed is they have gotten new carts with wind shields and the grass in some areas that grows tall was cut down. For $40(with hot deal)it’s a super deal!

Now...if you are new to golf this course will warm your eyes and heart with the amazing views of nature. But, your golf ball inventory may be shortened dramatically. It rewards great play, but will bring you to your knees if you’re off.

GO PLAY THIS COURSE!!

Incredible experience

What an incredible golf course. Not only was the staff inviting and friendly, the course was in amazing shape for April! This was my first time here and will definitely not be my last. Best public course I’ve played on the east side of the cities!

Always happy

As usual we had a great outing, Nick, Brady and the rest of the staff are friendly and make us feel warm and welcome. The course is in great fall condition and of course the amenities are top notch.

This is a go to for us! We love to explore other course but we always favor Saint Croix National.

Up and Down

Extremely hilly course. Too many hills for my and my golf partner's liking. Very scenic, which is the main reason I'd recommend this course, if someone really wanted to go. On one hole, the green was so elevated (I think it was 11), after hitting a decent distance drive into the middle of the fairway, I faced an approach shot of 181 yards and at least 70 yards up. I had no club in my bag for which to hit that shot. Had to layup and chip. Also, the greens had just been aerated and were the worst I've putted on all year, even having played on other courses that had just done the same. SUPER slow, incredibly bumpy and sandy. Finally, on a few of the tee boxes, we couldn't find a level spot (personally hate that) and those that required irons off the tee, completely ripped up. Yuck. Will not return.

Be ready for a challenge

This is a very fun and challenging course. Did not know what to expect but heard many good things about the course and the challenging shots it brings! If you have not had the chance to play, I would highly recommend trying to make it happen.

Fun but Big Challenge

There are some really cool elevations changes and memorable holes, with really good conditions. However the course is very difficult and many shots missing the green by a yard or two bounded into the deep grass or woods more than average. There seems to be a lot of blind tees shots, so it was hard to determine where the group in front was at. Fun to play once or twice a year. I will add, it was annoying that the golf cart GPS screen had constant advertisements and spent a lot of time tapping out to get to the hole yardage.
