Troon Links - Darley

About
The first Troon Municipal Darley Golf Course dates from about 1910, though the current one, with its original bogey par of 71 opened June 9, 1951.
Troon Links - Darley plays shorter than Lochgreen, meaning a tight round of golf with heather and gorse clogging the edges of several fairways, and an easy enough start makes the tests between the fifth and 15th holes all the more frustrating.
Shoot straight on Troon Links - Darley, as, in addition to the heather and gorse, there's plenty of whin.

Very poor
Very poor overall not worth £33 typical council golf course greens were the only good point about the round would not play there again
Hard course
Very good and testing course. Be prepared to lose balls if your not going down the middle. Ninth hole is now an absolute disaster though. What were they thinking. Good course but £36 is steep. Better coursed locally for less.
So much potential
The greens were fantastic.
Fairways could do with a lot of work and look as if they have just been left to bake in the hot sun.
Good course ruined by dog walkers
Darley is actually a pretty decent course for being a public course but it is absolutely ruined by dog walkers. I like to play in the mornings and you probably see 10+ dogs in your round all off the leash running around.
links golf
Course played very well greens in fabulous condition only down point was fairways very burnt but can't help the weather
Good value
Recent weather made the fairways very fast, some undulating fairways where the ball could roll off, greens superb and holding a good shot.
Overall a good test.
Ok course. terrible facilities
Enjoyed the course, not in the greatest of conditions but greens were good the worst part was the cafe shut at 3.45pm so no food or beer, we finished at 4pm.
No buggies either on darley. But some fun holes if you don't mind a long walk between holes
Fun course
Great course, played many times. Lots of work being done to strengthen the layout. An idea could be to return the third to load layout and place new tee just behind second green as it used to play.
Great days golf
True links golf, testing layout, green in great condition. Time to get back to rakes in bunkers and removing flags when putting. Staff need to improve their attitude although pro shop staff are great. If you have never golfed here it’s a must, and a must return. Lochgreen and Darley are great tracks.
pete's game
a good course marred by some unnecessary work on the 9th, 10th and 11th holes. Why on earth have they ripped out all the gorse, heather and broom?
