Apple Mountain Golf Resort
About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

18th hole needs work
The large upslope below the 18th green should be mown to a playable length. The area is not a hazard but it plays like one with assorted weeds on a severe slope. Give us a chance to hit a shot from that surface. Thanks!
13 holes, 4 hours
Beautiful day on the course. Fairways in great shape. Tee boxes need some attention. Greens a little patchy is some areas, which is common for this course coming out of winter. Made putts roll a little inconsistently, both speed and line. Pace of play was a deal breaker though. 13 holes in 4 hours is painfully slow, no course marshal in sight. Left after the 13th hole. Expect a better pace of play on a Friday afternoon. Recommend the course overall, during the week from June to September is ideal.
Hidden gem
Must play if in the area. The course was in great shape in February. Greens rolling good. Challenging and fun layout with lots of elevation changes, large pine trees and forced carries. Staff was very friendly too.
Always a good time, tee boxes need some help.
A challenging but fun course. Weather was perfect and the course was in great shape other than the tee boxes which need leveling and reseeding.
$90. 3 Hours. 9 Holes.
This is one of the most poorly managed pace of play scenarios I've ever seen and it absolutely ruined this experience.
My group had two players and the group in front of us had 5-6. After 3 hours of sitting around, I finally left the course.
Marshall was present, just didn't do anything to speed up the awful pace of play and it made for a really poor experience.
Although the pace of play ruined my experience and proved to make this a waste of money, I want to ensure that the staff is recognized for their kindness. They were kind and inviting during the check in process and when a member of the staff saw I was leaving after 9, he took time to offer a resolution; it was just too late for the experience to be redeemed.
Challenging
This course has many challenges. Major variations in elevation, carries off the tee and lots of woods around the edges. Greens were great and good fairway drainage. Beautiful scenery with all the wildlife carved right out of the mountain. Very challenging. Bring some extra balls if you spray 'em.
Best kept secret
Don't go to Truckee, Lake Tahoe or Graeagle to golf. Apple Mountain is a beautiful course with scenery equally as beautiful as courses which cost 3-4x
Excellent round of golf
Excellent round of golf on a beautiful and a bit challenging course
