Apple Mountain Golf Resort
About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

A Real Gem
This course was great fun and a great value. A scenic challenging ltee lined layout, with nothing flat. It was already pretty dry for an early April round and a couple of the greens were in a bit of rough shape, but those ate clearly drought related issues and not a reflection of the staff's efforts or abilities. Everyone I dealt with was quite friendly and cordial and I truly enjoyed my day.
take the drive
Everything about this course is good. Its a nice drive and a good outing for the day. The only knock on this day were the greens were rough. It is worth the drive and the money. Go go go
A wild ride in the Sierra foothills
Golfers trade playability for views when they tee it up at Apple Mountain. I haven't played too many mountain courses as topsy-turvy as this one. It's a roller coaster ride of target golf. Each nine ends with an elevated tee where your ball flies for a few wonderful seconds before it lands on the fairway below. Both closing holes are par 5s. Such severe elevation changes create plenty of difficult side-hill and downhill lies. You need to play here a few times before you figure out the best places to layup off the tee for a flat lie and when to break out the driver. Even from the 5,990-yard blue tees, this is a tricky tough - and fun - test of golf.
Lots of challenge for a very good price
Course was in pretty good shape for early season. Fairways could have been more closely mowed, but still early in year. Greens were were pretty thin, but still rolled pretty true. All in all, it is a great target course; if you can stay in fairway and hit good approach shots you will be rewarded. Great elevated tees and greens with great vistas. Weather was great and course in good early season condition. At just $29/player it was an excellent golfing value and a great day. Staff very friendly and helpful
Wonderful day!
Staff including marshal very accommodating to our 2 junior girls; beautiful weather; and great course!
Great Course!
Though it's a bit of drive to get there, the course is beautiful.
Very challenging due to elevation changes, but they do a great job of giving you a yardage book that lets you know what to aim for.
Lots of blind shots.
One small critique, they had a ton of fairway roped off even though it was dry (the scorecard says no carts on par 3's and 10, but it was way more than that). This caused pace of play to be slow.
Will go back!!
Amazing deal!!!
I came in from out of state and found this course on golfnow and couldn't have been more pleased. Staff was great, breakfast was outstanding, and the course was the best value I've found in 5 years on golfnow. Great condition, beautiful sights, and amazing value. Worth trying!
A different experience
Apple Mountain is very special, at least for me.
It's extremely elevated and the greens very undulated, compared to what I am used to.
The fact that most fairways are very narrow doesn't make the course any less challenging.
The quality was excellent and the overall experience also.
I will definitely come back!
challenging fun course...
great course, start by noon to finish during winter season...
Nice course, bad greens when I played, awful food service.
This course is absolutely breathtaking. Late January 2015 these greens were awful though... Barely any grass, mostly dirt.
I called in a food order from their menu. fries? Don't have any! Ok how about some chili? Nope don't have that either! Ok fine make me a bloody mary.... Sorry can't do that....
Ok ill have some chicken strips... Bad idea! Tasted like they were a week old and microwaved.
Beautiful course though.
Another fun day at Apple
I love this course. Very challenging, beautiful, & inexpensive. A few of the greens looked frosbit but it was super cold. Other than that, this course is in great shape. The service and staff are top notch. Cant wait to go back.
beautiful surroundings
Ihave played this course many times and you need to to know where to hit it.Down hill lies to uphill greens make it difficult but hit it to the right spot and youre good.Fairways are thin with grass but the greens are good.Good course when it thaws out.
Terrible
So I know golfing in January probably wasn't the best Idea. But being stationed in Alaska I was unaware that the whole golf course was FROZEN. It was a terrible experience. Not only was it frozen, I was charged 43 dollars to play on it! The guy never even mentioned how bad it could be. Before the round started I got a breakfast burrito from the restaurant. The lady behind the counter was nasty and rude. Since when is "here's your burrito guy" polite? Never in my book. On top of that the burrito was nasty and undercooked and had a hair about as long as a ruler in it. VERY disappointed with this facility and I will NEVER play there again.
Frozen back 9
Balls don't stick to frozen greens! Temp green on #11. Prob. the last time i'll go here till spring. It was 48 degrees and sunny today but the ground never thawed. Hitting the green on 17 my ball bounced like it hit concrete. I'll be playing at Camino Heights or driving to sac next time
its amountain course lots of side hill lies
grass is very thin and slippery to be expected this time of year
Great course
Despite the sloppiness of the course due to the recent rains it was still a pleasure to play. Very challenging greens.Loved the elevated tees, of which there were many. I would highly recommend it.
Mountain goat
If you haven't played before good luck on these unfair greens.Nice layout but yard ages tough to gauge. Lots of blind shots.
Scenic views, but double trouble
This is a beautiful course, with rolling inclines and steep down hills. The course itself was in good condition, wet in some spots but was expecting that with recent rains and parts of the course doesn't see the sun. Well, if you manage to weave yourself through the fairways and find yourself on the greens be prepared to test your putting skills. Greens are very fast but makable, in 2 or 3. All in all it was 75 degrees with picturesque views. Playing golf in the mountains on a gorgeous day, can you ask for anything better
Mountain Golf!
Very challenging, amazing course layout. Almost every hole is either up or down hill with an elevation change of 150 - 250 feet. Greens very slopey, lightning fast and putted true. Made a few putts but more 3 putts than normal. If you get a chance play this course it was very fun, don't worry about your score.
