Apple Mountain Golf Resort
About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

Beautiful, Challenging Course
Played course for the first time and enjoyed a wonderful day. Each hole presents itself as a gorgeous, sometimes treacherous test of your game. Requires accuracy off the tee and greens are very quick, with steep breaks and tiers on several. Tough to get close to pin and very few straight putts. Greens are fairly open with generous chipping areas, though most have a few bunkers to catch miss hit shots. Scenery is tremendous and no two holes look or feel the same, hit every club in my bag, some more than I wanted...
A few comments on the conditions: as course sits at about 2,500', it was at least 10 degrees cooler than the Valley. Course is very hilly, but I was surprised by the excellent conditions throughout. Tee boxes are clean, fairways are tight, first cut of rough is fair, greens for the most part are very good with a couple showing patches of dead spots. Auxilliary plantings greatly enhance the aesthetics of the course. Fairways are narrow, but shots landing in them tend to stay there. Wayward tee shots will most likely lead to lost balls and crooked numbers on your card.
This an excellent test of your game in a beautiful, tranquil setting. Well worth the drive, excellent value and I look forward to playing here for years.
Unique, Majestic, Challenging course
This is my home course, I love playing it because it seems to make other courses easier to play. If you're a 20 or below handicap you literally only need a long iron, mid iron, a wedge and putter to play this course. But do bring the big stick for holes 9 and 18, where you'll have an elevated tee box and wide fairways, let 'er rip...The most challenging aspect of the course is there is rarely a flat lie (aside from the tee boxes of course). You must have some pinpoint accuracy and know where to hit the ball to have a good chance at your next shot, it's not just about blasting the ball as far as you can to have a close approach. Every hole presents it's own challenge. I will continue to play this course as much as possible. It is well kept, affordable and has great views.
Very nice golf course!
Well maintained course! A great place to go when it's hot in the valley. Everyone who works there is very friendly especially Louis the starter. Beautiful setting. We will definitely go again.
Hills and Valleys
There are no level holes on this course so you have to be ready for all types of lies, both on the fairways and greens. Be ready to hit less or more club than usual to manage the hills and valleys. They give you a cheat sheet when you start that really helps someone who is playing the course for the first time. Read it and do as it says. Long hitters will not need their driver on many holes. The marshal was out and about trying to get groups to speed it up but four and a half hours for this course is about right considering the challenging conditions. Got a great deal from Golfnow to play this course. .
Great Course and fabulous elevation changes
This course is not very long, but placement in the fairways is a MUST! Lost balls galore if you miss the somewhat ample fairways. Great elevation changes and tricky greens. When the central valley is in the 90's or 100's, Apple Mountain is 20 degrees cooler. As a senior golfer with 9 index, this is clearly one of my favorite courses. I live in Solano County so it's a 90-minute drive but worth the time and gas. As with most courses, the fees are on the rise but reasonable for seniors at this time. I applaud the course and employees. Great course!!
Beautiful and challenging
The course is in terrific shape. It's a great option to get away from the crowds and play some interesting holes. The tee boxes are a little fuzzy, but the fairways and greens are excellent.
It's much more difficult than the scorecard suggests. With the assortment of blind tee shots, hard dog-legs, sloping fairways, uphill approaches, and undulating greens, it's hard to find a straight-forward shot.
In my first round, I struggled to put the ball where it needed to be. You need to know the bounces before taking aim.
Also, the pin placements were brutal. There were no easy putts.
With a little course knowledge, I look forward to coming back.
Horrible day
Having players driving balls into I when u r in the middle of fairways is horrific. Then actuLly getting hit by a ball and going to the hospital. Was rediculous. I will never go here agAin nor recommend this place
Beautiful scenery ... Sloooooooooooow play turns it ugly
The golf course was not busy and my round was still 5+ hours. The 'Marshall' said "hey, what're you gonna do?" I suggested perhaps letting a five-some (yes, 5 peeps) out in front of multiple three and twosomes may have been a bad idea. Hmmm. Never again. Too many other worthy options in the area to go back to this one.
Apple Mountain is always a great challenge.
App Mountain will test your club choice. Its best to play that straight 200 and leave the driver alone most of the time. But it invites for that Eagle putt.
Thanks Golf Now for letting us blue collar guys
play an upper course once in a while. Hot Deals
Baby!
Apple Mountain
Love this course. Absolutely the most picturesque course near Sacramento. Best course for the price. Would give it 5 stars but the greens and fairways had just been punched and the grass was a little inconsistent on the greens.
Outstanding Course
This is one of the best golf courses in the region. This cousre is in excellent condition and the views are totally amazing. You will have to hit some shots or bring plenty balls with you. But you will have a blast playing this one.
Apple Mountain G C
Course was in great shape best in a while. Pace of play went really well on the front nine, it slowed on the back nine , it still was a very nice day
Hilly
There is no apparent reason for the blocking of fairways to carts from 200 yards in. This required much more trudging up and down to get to the cart. Every hole was blocked from at least 150 yards to cart traffic. One might as well walk the entire round. The scenery was extra nice and the people very friendly. We drove an hour to get there and will not go again due to severe cart restrictions.
Gem of a course!
This is the best golf course in the area! If you are wanting to get out of town for the day and enjoy beautiful scenery, this is the place to play! Amazing views on every hole and excellent course conditions!
apple mt

It is a very nice course
It is a good golf course all around it it has hills side lies uphill lies downhill lies it makes you a better golfer Good all round
Favorite course in Sacramento Area
Apple mountain is the most unique experience in golf.
Great Hidden Secret
Being that I was there for the first time, I was very impressed at the conditions of the fairways and greens. They were very well kept, especially after winter. Scenery was fantastic, the course at certain holes are even better. A great place to play, not your typical course. A lot of hills and the par 3's were pretty tough. The up hill holes are tough as well.
Loved playing and would definitely play again.
Visually stunning
This is one of those courses you stumble upon and are extremely impressed. It's not too long, but the varying elevation changes make it challenging. Sometimes the greens get a little bumpy but it's not a deal breaker. And the price is very reasonable. Every time I leave Apple Mountain, I think to myself, "what a great spot!" I'll make the drive every chance I get.
This course has chipping and putting areas
Today will be my fourth day practicing on the course, and the putting and chipping greens are in fair conditing with camparison to actual greens.
Like playing in Beautiful Lake Tahoe...but with economical
Sacramento prices!!
And cooler in the Summer Days than Sacramento, too!
