Apple Mountain Golf Resort
About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

Awesome Apple
My friends & I really enjoy everything about Apple Mtn. The course is fun, channeling, well-groomed and not boring. This is probably the 5th time I've played here and it's perfect on the way to Tahoe... In fact it's better than a lot of courses up in the Tahoe area!
Thanks again!
Great vistas
Overall I love playing AM. this time we signed up for the unlimited play feature. While it was a good value the second round was extremely slow due to a fivesome of slow players who seemed to play with little regard for others. Unfortunately the Marshall that was very visible in the morning was no where to be seen on the afternoon.
Hard but beautiful
Forget your scorecard and just enjoy the visuals on every hole. Small misses here turn into penalty strokes for hazards, out of bounds and lost balls.
So treasure and remember the birdies and the good shots and know you are better than this course's scorecard will show.
One of my favorites
I would pay just to ride the cart throughout this forested, mountain park. Forget just grabbing the driver on all the par 4's & par 5's, as this this strategy can bite you. Every tee shot requires hitting your spot or you may be unforgiven. There are some awesome some holes where you can smack the heck out of your driver & watch as your Titleist sails onto canyon fairways far below (or, if you miss, is given up to the bears, deer & grey squirrels). This is a must play & I drive 3.5 hrs (one way) several times a year just to get my butt kicked by this beauty. Only downside: pace of play can get bogged down (4.5 hrs round).
Very nice.
Beautiful surroundings. Nice design. Bring balls. Tough for high handicappers as many holes require longish carries and lots of walking up steep hills when u r off the cart.
Beautiful and challenging golf
Love this course not because it is easy but it is very beautiful, the staff is really friendly and if you play well - you can feel really good!
Practice areas are all nice (chip, putt and hit).
Price is very worth every dollar.
I cannot wait to play there again!
Fun afternoon on Apple Hill
Fun challenging course, need to play more than once to figure out, slow round though. No rangers. ;)
difficulte course
This is a must ride course. Course is very beautiful. Take a lot of balls with you.
Great Day at a wonderful Mountain Golf Course
Not your average golf course. Beautiful Scenery in the Mountains. Tremendous elevation changes. It was a treat to play this course. The staff could not have been more friendly nor more helpful. We will do this again before the year is out.
Bring your 'A' game!
Always love playing this course, whether I brought my 'A' game or not. Unfortunately the course is an hour drive away. Would love to play it more often (course knowledge). I'm sure it would help my score. Other than some bumpy greens, course is in great shape. Staff are friendly and attentive. Practice facilities are top notch as is the course usually. Carts are always well maintained and powerful.
Next time up, I think I'll go for 36 holes! :-)
Mountain gem
Although it was humid, this course gets you out of the heat.
Worth the extra travel
Great to get out of Sacramento and into the hills. Course was in great condition. Weather was fine but warm. Only lost one ball but didn't score below handicap.
Love Apple Mountsin
It's tough but well maintained and beautiful. It's also a little cooler than in the valley....... Just make sure you bring a lot of golf balls.
This course is challenging and beautiful
It's a lovely golf course and very interesting layout. The course was in good shape.
Beautiful course, unrelenting greens, many lost balls!
Absolutely beautiful course, yet very difficult! It felt as if we were at a resort. The greens are very fast, with a lot of downhill play- it truly puts your putting to the test. Be sure to bring an extra dozen balls because if your not on the fairway, you're probably not going to find it.
Stressful and Fun
This is a very challenging course. If you like to have fun playing a round of golf with positive stress, this is the course for you.
excellent value
Apple Mountain is a challenging, maintained, scenic, public golfing experience that is a great value! the high- handicapper will be seriously challenged with the uphill downhill side hill lies - but I love it! A beautiful location and a challenge - what could be better! If you haven't played it check it out. I brought my 16 year old grandson this time and he played (Thursday) for $5 ($20 with a cart)!
Fun, beautiful and difficult
This is a very difficult course for most playrs. We play it at least once a year because it is so beautiful with the mountains and trees.
Put this one on your bucket list.
Bring your A game
Outstanding vista for golf. Natural settings beautiful views challenging course. Play the blues
Nice course!
I love this course. It makes you think, guess, and concentrate. The ball flies in the thin air so you gotta stay on top of your yardages. Thick pine trees surround the well maintained narrow fairways so you have to be accurate. The fairways are extremely hilly but if you hit your spot you will get a flat lie. Almost every tee is elevated with a scenic view. The challenge on this course is club selection and yardages. I think I hit 3-4 drivers. Would recommend and can't wait to play it again.
Aside from the yardage markers of 200/150 the yardages are extremely blurry. When you are in between the yardage markers there are no yardages on the fairway. The tee's are also blurry, not many signs to navigate from hole to hole. The greens need work, they were in decent condition but they were not running fast or true. Hole to hole the greens are inconsistent. I'm a 10 handicap and I shot an 82 from the tips.
