About

Holes 18
Type Resort
Par 70
Length 6308 yards
Slope 141
Rating 70.2

Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

SLOW PLAY 5 1/2 hrs !!!

If you have 5 1/2 hours to enjoy a beautiful day looking at nature then this is the place. A Wednesday tee time of 1130 took until 5 PM to finish! The greens were so fast as to be almost impossible to putt.. They worry about a dress code ( strictly enforced by a sign at the front desk)... what they need is a requirement for an 18 or less handicap so the pace of play could be better. (And if you don't know what a handicap is... you should not be playing at this golf course.)

Good course, just extremely challenging

Narrow fairways which forces more layups than usual. Extreme elevation changes throughout most of the holes make judging distance frustrating. Greens were cut razor thin and we're FAST. Difficult greens to read since most greens had 2-3 shelves to them.

Duffers need not Apply !

Excellent golf course ! ! True mountain course with elevations changes - sloped fairways and greens - and some 'local' knowledge needed to attack holes correctly. Even with a California draught, fairways and greens are in 'good' condition. Greens hold approach shots well but you must hit the proper area and fairways roll well if you play them correctly. Slow pace of play because most will not have the tool set to play this course and so 'hack' around and take Time. My First time on course and played +9, easily leaving 4-5 strokes on the course (from lack of knowledge). If you want a Beautiful mountain course that will take every shot in your bag this is the place.....otherwise, leave it for the better players.

Glyn L

This was challenging but not overly difficult if you can control your ball flight. I would describe as a "target sensitive" course. Very fun to play and the employees were incredibly courteous and helpful. I highly recommend all golfers to play this course. It will bring you back to improve your previous score.

Great Course...BUT

Great challenging golf course. Certainly worth the one hour drive. Excellent condition, fast, fast greens.

But, not worth the drive for slow slow slow pace of golf. Five hours and twenty minutes and on a Monday no less!! Very painful. No course marshall helping to speed pace. Starter also seems most unfriendly and even rude!!

GLad I played, but will likely not return.

We had it all ... beautiful course ... beautiful views ... beautiful weather .... and the eagles flying overhead ... this is a course where you need to keep your hits straight and true ... and oh .. be sure to bring some extra balls ... you are sure to lose more than the average ... need to upgrade the food and beverages ... limited selection

Gorgeous

Absolutely as advertised, Apple Mountain is spectacularly situated and in immaculate condition. First time on the course, but we joined up with someone who had played it often, which was helpful in pointing out things to avoid. It's a very difficult, but very fair, test. I am no one's idea of a first rate golfer, but I thoroughly enjoyed the conditions and the course, my semi-abysmal score notwithstanding.

Beautiful Scenery

Great views. Very intimidating at the start! But, course was very exciting and a challenge. The course really makes you think about club selection. Not a course where you go to driver on all none par 3 holes! We were a twosome and played 18 under 3 1/2 hours!

Course is unbelievable for the value. If this course was in Tahoe it would be a $100+ round. Great staff and the course has awesome views.

Awesome Apple

My friends & I really enjoy everything about Apple Mtn. The course is fun, channeling, well-groomed and not boring. This is probably the 5th time I've played here and it's perfect on the way to Tahoe... In fact it's better than a lot of courses up in the Tahoe area!

Thanks again!

Great vistas

Overall I love playing AM. this time we signed up for the unlimited play feature. While it was a good value the second round was extremely slow due to a fivesome of slow players who seemed to play with little regard for others. Unfortunately the Marshall that was very visible in the morning was no where to be seen on the afternoon.

Hard but beautiful

Forget your scorecard and just enjoy the visuals on every hole. Small misses here turn into penalty strokes for hazards, out of bounds and lost balls.
So treasure and remember the birdies and the good shots and know you are better than this course's scorecard will show.

One of my favorites

I would pay just to ride the cart throughout this forested, mountain park. Forget just grabbing the driver on all the par 4's & par 5's, as this this strategy can bite you. Every tee shot requires hitting your spot or you may be unforgiven. There are some awesome some holes where you can smack the heck out of your driver & watch as your Titleist sails onto canyon fairways far below (or, if you miss, is given up to the bears, deer & grey squirrels). This is a must play & I drive 3.5 hrs (one way) several times a year just to get my butt kicked by this beauty. Only downside: pace of play can get bogged down (4.5 hrs round).

Very nice.

Beautiful surroundings. Nice design. Bring balls. Tough for high handicappers as many holes require longish carries and lots of walking up steep hills when u r off the cart.
