Apple Mountain Golf Resort
About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

Challenging course
This is one of the most beautiful course in the area, and in my opinion the most difficult. Many years have passed since I played here (about 25). I hit so many shots I felt good about until the ball ran off the fairway or takes some crazy bounce into the forest. Hitting off the fairway wasn’t bad as long as you don’t take a big divot. The red clay typical in this area doesn’t give much. The greens were super firm and trying to land soft on the many elevated tees was a challenge. The front 9 moved smoothly but slowed considerably on the back. I played much better on the front given an opportunity to find a tempo. The Marshall provided us with the info and assured us he was doing what he could to speed play ahead. Tony the Marshall was polite and professional. Our starter Kevin was also great, and was super friendly. Kevin provided a tip sheet which helped a bit as many holes have dog legs and knowing what side is best it crucial. I’ll likely return when and if my game improves dramatically. I just getting back into golf and customarily play near bogey golf and shoot in the 90s. I have no idea how I actually scored, I ended up quitting keeping score just to have fun and enjoy the views. The photo is of the shortest and most straightforward holes on the course. I don’t recall the name but it’s on the back 9.
Beautiful setting
A beautiful day in the hills. Everything was awesome. A challenging hill course and I smiled all day.
Great views from elevated tees
Wear comfortable shoes finding your list ball.
Pace was so darn slow.
I had to quit after 9 at the turn.
Took me over 3 hours to play the front 9 and when I asked the staff what is going on they simply shrugged their shoulders and told me it happens.
Never saw one Marshall.
Disappointed for 80 dollars.
HONESTLY
Played Super Bowl Sunday so course may have been busier than usual. Course is extremely challenging and some folks just have to tee it up off the back tees for some odd reason, that and cart path only makes for 15 minute waits on some tees. Steep elevation changes uphill will eat drive distances so pick the right tees, off the fairways are dead. This is a visually nice course to look at but difficult for the average golfer. Pick the forward tees, folks, much more enjoyable! Greens in excellent shape and can be troublesome on long putts
Tough but fun and refreshing
Very tough course surrounded with with beautiful scenery. The greens are well kept and sneakily fast, with DASTARDLY pin placements. If you miss the green, you’re gonna have a tough chip, or you ball is just lost. Despite the challenge, it’s hard to get too frustrated being surrounded by the trees. Tees boxes could use some flattening work and I did notice people weren’t fixing their ball marks on the green but that’s really just nit picking.
More of a mini golf type novelty experience than a real course
6hr round
Awesome golf course, but I didn't pay to play a 6hr round. Never have I met a golf course where you check into the pro shop and they tell you at 1250pm that you won't finish all 18 hole...3hr15min front 9 haha..
Beautiful course with very slow play
Apple Mountain has been one of my favorite courses for many years and remains so. It’s one of the most beautiful golf courses in the state. But, it is a challenging track.
When golfers play it and have little bother for groups behind them, it ruins the day for many others. I had to quit after nine holes since my golf partner and I had to wait on every hole. The front nine took nearly three hours!
Apple round
The greens and fairways were in great condition. This is a very hilly coarse, quit beautiful though and worth the drive from Roseville.
