Prairie Landing
About
Prairie Landing Golf Club has received acclaim ever since first opening in 1995, including a four-and-a-half-star rating from Golf Digest. This West Chicago course will make you feel as though you've been transported to a seaside links course in Ireland. The prairie-style layout closely follows the tradition of classic links golf courses. Robert Trent Jones II designed the course, fully utilizing the rolling terrain. He incorporated large, undulating greens and rolling bent grass fairways. Vast swaths of native grasses stretch along the fairways and strategically placed bunkers frame the greens. There is also contoured mounding to contend with. The golf course finishes with a memorable par 5 that features fairway bunkers on the left followed by a carry over a lake to a well protected, high bowled green. Prairie Landing also boasts a practice facility that includes a driving range with target greens, four practice holes, and a nine-hole chipping and short-game area.

under construction
Golf now doesn't tell you the course us under a rebuild.
A long drive from the city
Links style golf with lots of water and the extraneous distractions of low flying aircraft and frequent nearby trains.
Bunkers on 18th hole were under repair when we played.
Clubhouse has good selection of beers, excellent bar food, but very limited wines.
Great Course
Very challenging and great course. Greens and fairways were awesome.
A good day
Played as a single but paired with a two some. Played the front nine in under two hours, but then was a slow back nine Four and a half hours total. The range was good, able to hit from grass. 48 range balls cost $9.00 Course was in good condition, except traps, but local rule allowed you to rake and replace the ball in the trap. The greens are enormous. All and all I considered the course about average, but given the great weather it was a good day.
Nice but Pricey
It was a nice course...great layout but the price is a little steep. It is just like most other courses in the west burbs rolling with a dogleg here and there. I would recommend anyone to give it a play once.
Great place - thoroughly enjoyed the round
First time out here- great course- really enjoyed the round. Was a bit backed up on the back 9 but only b/c one group was awful and kept looking for their lost balls. Other than that the round was spectacular. Could not have been any better. Fast greens and really challenging Sunday pin placements.
Worth the trip
I drove in from Palos Park and it was well worth the trip. The course was in great shape, great layout and in all an excellent facility. Most times when I drive an hour to a course, I question myself as to why I didn't play one of the 10 courses within 15 minutes of my house. This course is worth the drive and I'll be back. Well managed, rangers driving by frequently, and just well run.
The Greens Prevent 5-stars
From tee up to the green was great. The bunkers were fluff, the fairways and rough were in great shape. There was no hard pan in the fairways. All divots were true and consistent. The greens were a disappointment due mold damage on some greens and unrepaired ball marks on most greens. Sand top dressing was still visible on the greens however did not impede the speed or the roll. The ball marks and other player-induced impacts did. Nice greens can make up for a poor course however neglected greens cannot be overcome. Staff was friendly, service was good. The range was in good shape. The hitting lane must have been moved from the previous day because I had plenty of undisturbed grass to hit off. Be aware of snack bar hours and late day tee times. We turned the 9 at 6pm and the snack bar was closed.
I hit long iron on several par 4's as placement is rewarded over distance. The par 5's reward distance as 3 are reachable in 2 if the tee shot is maxed. The par 3's played 170 to 220 from the gold tees. Save the driver for par 5's and play fairway woods/long irons on the 4's and 3's.
Worn Out
Course is showing signs of wear and tear with very little upkeep. Greens are in average shape at best with mold growth evident as well as numerous ball repair marks. Also numerous divots in the approach areas. A general lack of maintenance is evident.
Great layout and conditions.
The course is always well maintained. The layout is challenging but fair. Will play again for sure.
thinker's course
This course is great. You have to think your way around this course.
Fun Course
Play here several time a year course is in good shape bunkers are much improved over last year and earlier this year.
Wonderful Course for $65
The driving range was heavily used and chewed up. However, the course itself was in excellent shape and well cared for. The green had been recently aerated and sanded, so they did not putt well. However, they not bad. Overall, it is a tough, but fair course, and I will definitely play again if the GolfNow price remains at $65/round.
A Chicagoland Must Play a Few Times each Season
Always an enjoyable place to play all-around. The course is always in great or excellent condition. Challenging but fair. Perfect balance of bunkers, water, elevation and blind shots. Very helpful to have a yardage book as landing areas are not always what they appear off the tee. There are a few decision holes with nice risk/reward ratios. I rank this course in my top 5 public courses in Chicagoland.
Green Conditions
From tee to green this course was in great shape but the greens were awful. They were just recently punched up but in addition to that they were pretty beat up. I got a great rate from Golf Now but had I payed their full price I would have been very disappointed.
Great course
One of my favorite courses in the area. Fairways and rough were in great condition. Greens had recently been aerated but they were still putting true. Can't wait to come back.
Nice course
This is a links style course. Wide fairways and not to difficult to hit. The greens were running professional speeds. Lightning fast greens.
Links lay out
For Midwest golfers looking for a taste of British Open golf, this is a great venue. Rolling fairways, waist high grass, roller coaster greens all make for a fun yet challenging round. Greens were somewhat marred by numerous poorly repaired pitch marks. Fairway conditions were excellent. Staff was very friendly. We finished nine holes in 90 minutes. Only thing missing for Open style golf was wind and rain.
Not a flat fairway to be found!!!
Excellent course loved the way nothing was flat till you got to the green. It's very scenic and challenging. Wish I could afford to play every Sunday. Will go back maybe in fall excellent course. The 18th hole is amazing.
