Prairie Landing
About
Prairie Landing Golf Club has received acclaim ever since first opening in 1995, including a four-and-a-half-star rating from Golf Digest. This West Chicago course will make you feel as though you've been transported to a seaside links course in Ireland. The prairie-style layout closely follows the tradition of classic links golf courses. Robert Trent Jones II designed the course, fully utilizing the rolling terrain. He incorporated large, undulating greens and rolling bent grass fairways. Vast swaths of native grasses stretch along the fairways and strategically placed bunkers frame the greens. There is also contoured mounding to contend with. The golf course finishes with a memorable par 5 that features fairway bunkers on the left followed by a carry over a lake to a well protected, high bowled green. Prairie Landing also boasts a practice facility that includes a driving range with target greens, four practice holes, and a nine-hole chipping and short-game area.

Great Course, Pace of Play horrible
Course was in great shape and liked the layout. But the Pace of Play was horrible. On one hole there were 4 groups. We played 10 holes in 3 hours and left.
Apparently Golf Channel has this amateur tour where they play at different courses. We teed off at 1130 behind this tour. And was it horrible. The players thought they were on the PGA tour. Caddies, Fore Caddies and taking forever. I have no problem with this type of play if the entire course did this. The course needs make these tour players tee off late in day after all the regular players.
The Course is also making me go through Golf Now for my rain check. You would think after everyone was complaining they would have gave us a 9 hole rain check right on the spot.
Great course
Beautiful, fun links style course. Lots of rolling fairways, plan accordingly. Very fair with up tees for women and beginners.
I have always liked a links course and this one showed very good balance of where the hazards were located, so you had to play target golf
The coarse was in great shape except for the sand bunkers. most of the bunkers didn't have any sand in them. They had some sand but hard pan underneath which made it difficult to play a good sand shot consistantly, Go figure I was in them all day. Good Course!!!
Good course in great shape....other than some bunkers
Really nice links layout, with fairways in fantastic shape, greens in decent shape, other than the usual idiots who don't fix ball marks. The tee boxes were OK, but nothing special. The knock on this course has always been the bunkers and how bad they are, usually filled with little sand, and tons of little rocks. About half of them were in decent shape, with sand, but the other half were, not surprisingly, in bad shape. As with many of the nicer courses in Chicagoland, it is expensive, but that is not a problem when using GolfNow. If you haven't used GolfNow much, you should, cause this course is affordable through them.
Definitely a must play
Good golfing experience. Not a course for bombers. Bunkers could use some work. Will play again for sure.
Better than average conditioning.
Fairways, tees and greens are perfect. Sand bunkers are inconsistent and need work. Range balls are not included with Golf Now booking.
Course is always in great shape
I've played this course several times and one of my favorites in the Chicagoland area. It is on the high end side but worth the money as it is always in great shape. It is a shot makers course but greens are large and always true. Will play here again.
Beautiful Course
Great course, beautiful view, very well maintained with friendly staff. The price is fair for this style of course. I look forward to playing at Prairie Landing again down the road.
great course, iplay there a lot
for the price from golfnow was fantanisic, especially when normal green fees are a $100 in the morning. they dont know that people dont have that kind of money any more,
Worth the trip if you can get a good rate
Consistent with other reviews, the course is a hidden gem. The only problems were the traps were not well maintained (some of them had weeds growing in them) and there were no rangers to be found on the entire course. Played the front nine in blazing fashion only to hit a roadblock on the back 9, making me suspect that they were letting later tee times off on the back. Overall the course is well laid out and offers a variety of risk/reward shots. Don't let your guard down on any hole as the course is capable of biting back hard. Great amenities especially the 3-hole practice course and plenty of scenery. A must play if you haven't been there before.
Sand traps are in poor condition
Enjoyed the round - it is a challenging links course and the wind and fast greens make the round tough.
Ummmm wow! What a gem in the DuPage area...
WOW! Absolutely spectacular to the eye. This course is designed top notch & definitely not your norm for the Chicagoland area. There folks did it right, kudos to you. If you want a change the pace & get REALLY challenged head on over & fill your bag w/balls because you will need to play more than 1 provisional if you plan on attacking this place. The visual stimulations have to a take a half dozen rounds b-4 they wear off? Great course, great shape, great people. PS keep pace or you will be run over. This place zipped along.
My favorite 'premium' course
Good value; I felt the sand in the bunkers was a little thin; also, the
holes were cut for a tournament - all edges, so the middle should be available next time.
I'd play here again in a heartbeat.
I got lucky enough to find a deal on here to play Prairie Landing for $40! Easily worth that kind of money.
Course was in fantastic shape, greens were not dried out. Only complaint would be rough and fringe seemed a bit long but that may just be their style.
Also played a bit slow, close to 4 and 1/2 hrs.
Always a pleasure
great course a little pricey but worth it. Could be a little cheaper for drinks.
Love this golf course
Prairie Landing is an absolutely great golf course. It is challenging yet fair and the pace of play was fantastic.
Challenging course
This is a links style course that pulls no punches. With only one hole that did not have sand or water and fescue lining the sides of all of the holes, straying from the fairway is at your own peril.
I played this course the day after sever weather and a lot of rain had passed through. The course recovered well, although there was still standing water in a few traps. I only remember one fairway with standing water, although it was soggy in a couple of spots. None of this changed my view of this being an exceptional course.
The staff were very nice and seeking to accommodate when possible.
this course is great has a very large screens best shot into going bumping Run
for the amount that I paid which was $44 was one of the best courses in Illinois that I have played wish Golf now to get this price more often
challenging and well designed lay out gives many option to play holes
I love the course, but hate the price, with hot deal and 25% off it was still 46 dollars.I normally walk when I play, every sunday, and pay between 25 and30 to play.I like the course so much I was willing to cough up the extra bucks. It took 4and1/2 hours to play[why no 41/2 onpace play line?] slow but not terrible.
Cut Backs Obvious
No staff to greet you at club drop off, no staff at carts, no starter, slow kitchen, etc. It is pretty obvious that the cutbacks are really hurting this once jewel of the midwest. The traps are dirt and weeds but we heard they are re-doing them in the fall.
Don't get me wrong, this is still a great track. I got a special rate through GolfNow.com and loved the afternoon. Pace was awesome and the staff that is available does a great job.
