Prairie Landing
About
Prairie Landing Golf Club has received acclaim ever since first opening in 1995, including a four-and-a-half-star rating from Golf Digest. This West Chicago course will make you feel as though you've been transported to a seaside links course in Ireland. The prairie-style layout closely follows the tradition of classic links golf courses. Robert Trent Jones II designed the course, fully utilizing the rolling terrain. He incorporated large, undulating greens and rolling bent grass fairways. Vast swaths of native grasses stretch along the fairways and strategically placed bunkers frame the greens. There is also contoured mounding to contend with. The golf course finishes with a memorable par 5 that features fairway bunkers on the left followed by a carry over a lake to a well protected, high bowled green. Prairie Landing also boasts a practice facility that includes a driving range with target greens, four practice holes, and a nine-hole chipping and short-game area.

must play course
Excellent course
must play again
greens large and fair
Beautiful layout and extremely well maintained
First time playing this course and it will not be my last. Holes were laid out well and are quite challenging. Best played with someone that has played before as there are some tricky layup yardages that would be helpful with "Local Knowledge". Course was in excellent shape and greens rolled very true.. Highly recommend this course to everyone. Although it is a links style course, the greens are highly receptive to holding shots.
Good course
Nice course with well maintained fairways.
Green are true. Keep the ball in the fairways and you will shoot well. Pull it or push it and expect the ball/below your feet and your work cut out for you.
Tough but fair
Lots of target golf on the front nine, but the number of options for tee boxes makes it fair. Back nine opens up further.
Choose your tee boxes wisely and you'll really enjoy your day. It's a challenging course for sure, but once you've played there once, you'll no doubt improve significantly going forward.
Very Nice Public Course
This is still a must play golf course in the far western suburbs. Great condition!
Great Golf Venue
Played on a wednesday. There was a group outing in back of us so we had to play 18 holes in three hours. Fortunately, it was clear ahead of us so we completed the round. Course was in excellent condition with the exception of a ball mark on the greens now and then, but overall it played well. First nine was a difficult links layout and the back nine a little more traditional which gave us a great overall experience. Plan on playing this course again this season.
Great Course
We played in the afternoon. Staff was very accommodating to our friends that arrived late for our tee time. THe course was in great shape. We had such a great time playing it. It was a difficult course, but not a beat down.
great course
Overall a great course/experience. Layout is very challenging and fairways/greens are in great condition. Only minus was the condition of the sand traps but that may have been due to the amount of rain we have had recently.
No two the holes the same
The course is well laid out...loved all the features - no two holes the same, well maintained...loved the challenge but not an impossible course to play.
Overrated
20 minute wait on 15 tee as there was a fivesome on the hole. 3 groups backed up. Staff showed up to discourage hitting nearby range balls back into the range, but did nothing to speed play.
For the cost and reputation of club was even more disappointed that no staff was around at cart return to put a shine on the sticks, and carry then up 2 flights of stairs to bag drop. Would have happily tipped someone.
It's a nice course, challenging and fun but to pull off the rates charged pay attention to these comments. Tee boxes average greens true but starting to show a lot of play. Traps horrible. Maybe some sand would help. Only play here with a good discount.
Course is great but
The biggest setback is the course needs to be marked better a majority of the wholes are not marked properly and it becomes confusing on where the next whole is or if your headed the right way and proper marking for easy green access The other disappointment is the food stop at the turn between the 9th and 10th holes. I'm sorry but you know people are going to be there the day before No excuse for not having food available at this place we pay a lot to play we should at least have hot food available Other than that we love it
When it's breezy, swing easy
Very enjoyable course and a challenge for the eyes. No shots that you can take off, always trouble brewing. Greens were hard to read, so be prepared for some struggles if the first time playing. A thinking golfers course, as driver is only necessary on less than half of the holes. I will return. It was windy yesterday, so that made a challenging course harder.
get a discount
Luckily we had a hot time because this place has slipped. I would not pay rack rate. So for us it was a decent deal.
Great course
Simply put, a great course that is always in great condition. I don't think many are aware that there are three practice holes that come with the tee time. If you have time, you can get there early and play them as many times as you want. The course also staggers tee times in ten minute increments, so pace is usually not an issue.
The greens have always been fast and true, regardless of the season.
I've played all over the U.S., and Prairie Landing is a true gem. If we don't have a foursome, I seem to be paired with another that has made the trip from miles away. And they all say the same thing-"I make it a point to play this course a few times a year".
Second day open and was a treat
Prairie Landing is a public course in West Chicago but you think your at a country club in Charlston SC. The course is spectacular as well as the club house. There is a huge chipping practice area and putting green but the most impressive aspect of the practice facility is the fact that they have two practice holes that are par 4s that any paying customer can play.
The course is priced right but they really don't offer any good deals on Golf Now or other discount sites during the week which is a huge disappointment. It will unfortunately cost you about 68 to play it but again its a treat.
Fairways in great shape!
Thank you Gofnow! This is a great course whether you are able to get a special rate through Hot Times or you're paying 'rack' rate. You are greeted with a smile and a helping hand if needed and you are thanked with a smile when leaving. The greens had been recently aerated, but it didn't stop us from having a nice round. In general, this is a great track! A special thanks to the Proshop staff...Brian and Tim!
Super Nice
Very difficult course. Very nice. I would highly recommend it .
challenging course
The greens were aerated , which should be a huge discount. Other than that the course was in fine shape
interesting layout
We played for one of your $35.00 hot specials, which made it affordable. Otherwise it's too much money for us retired seniors.
Good value for Fall rates
Played on a cold, but sunny Fall day. The reduced Fall rates makes this course a good value. Otherwise, normal rates the course is a bit pricey.
Greens were outstanding for so late in the year - very fast and very smooth. The rest of the course was also in great shape. Very impressed.
Pace of play was decent. I give the "Players Assistant" credit for actual telling the slow group ahead of us to pick up the pace. Usually the PAs are useless.
Overall, I think this course offers a lot of good shot values and is very fair. One of the top 5 public courses in Chicago-land IMO.
