Prairie Landing
About
Prairie Landing Golf Club has received acclaim ever since first opening in 1995, including a four-and-a-half-star rating from Golf Digest. This West Chicago course will make you feel as though you've been transported to a seaside links course in Ireland. The prairie-style layout closely follows the tradition of classic links golf courses. Robert Trent Jones II designed the course, fully utilizing the rolling terrain. He incorporated large, undulating greens and rolling bent grass fairways. Vast swaths of native grasses stretch along the fairways and strategically placed bunkers frame the greens. There is also contoured mounding to contend with. The golf course finishes with a memorable par 5 that features fairway bunkers on the left followed by a carry over a lake to a well protected, high bowled green. Prairie Landing also boasts a practice facility that includes a driving range with target greens, four practice holes, and a nine-hole chipping and short-game area.

A Gem of a Course
I never knew this course was in my backyard until I played there. Very impresed with the course, the maintenance crew, the pro shop staff and even the restaurant for lunch after the round!
Always a great experience at Prairie Landing!
I've played Prairie Landing a dozen times in the last 6 or 7 years, and each and every time has been an outstanding experience. The staff is truly the friendliest I've ever encountered, and I'd now add they're also the most accommodating. See, I somehow made a mistake and booked a prepaid Hot Deal round for this Wednesday (2 days from now) when I was trying to book a round for today. I showed up at the course completely unaware of my mistake until I was corrected by the pro shop staff. Instead of turning me away, or giving me a hard time, they were happy to fit me in and even got me out a little earlier than the time I thought I had booked.
The is a challenging but fair links setup that's always in great condition. Wide open fairways that tempt you to swing a little harder, but penalize you appropriately if you don't keep it in the short stuff. Some (not all) of the bunkers need a little work, but the local rule is to rake yourself a spot and place the ball, so I don't mind at all. The greens are undulating and typically slick. A 20 foot putt can be a real adventure!
Definitely my favorite practice facilities around. The range is very nice, and the 2 practice holes (free to play as much as you want with your greens fee) are just as good as the other 18.
I couldn't recommend Prairie Landing enough!
Enjoyed the course
Played on a Sunday, teed off on time and finished in the allotted time-pretty unusual for a beautiful weekend day. Course was busy but pace of play was great. Only criticism is the sand traps - they are in need of serious rehab, but then, if you stay out of the traps, no problem.
Target golf at it's finest
This beautiful links style course can be challenging for the errant golfer. Make sure you can hit to targeted landing areas and you will enjoy your round. Fairways are littered with mounds and I never found a flat spot anywhere but I'm a 18 handicapper. Course was in great shape but as mentioned there was grass growing in the sand bunkers! I'll be back...when I am better.
Great course and staff. Challenging but fair layout.
Enjoyed the round, great course and great staff. Had lunch after the round great food and service.
Course is a great challenge in great shape
This course is great! Every time I play here it is in beautiful condition. It brings a nice challenge to all golfers. Definitely looking to play again in the future.
Great course. Played a bit slow - but we did play Sundary afternoon.
Course was in excellent condition and very challenging. Mostly a links course but some wooded holes on back 9. One of the best public courses in Western Suburbs
Great course, good variety of holes.
Booked a round of golf the night before. Woke up to storm clouds and drove through driving rain the whole way. As we arrived at the course the storm started to break and we were rewarded with 13 holes of golf with nobody around to finish a very enjoyable Saturday round. So happy golfnow is able to offer such a great course at a discount!
Beautiful
The course was breathe taking and very challenging. The holes aren't that long but a lot of water and sand. The only negative I could mention is that some of the sand traps weren't maintained. I understand we had a lot of rain. My opinion, the price you play, they can get the sand traps back into shape.
Links style golf
Course in very good condition.
Great greens
Long long prairie grass, rarely find ball if ends up there
Although $100 really nice track
Needs some attention.
There was grass growing in the fairway bunkers and some bare spots around the greens. The course was in better shape last year.
One of Chicago's Best
Due to an outing the round took longer than normal. I've played this course many times and never tires of the challenge. It's a Robert Trent Jones, Jr design so you know it is nice. It's links style which means the wind on the prairie will always be challenging. I can't wait to get back to tackle it again.
Golf and airplanes...the perfect match!
Excellent links course set next to the DuPage County Airport, providing a wonderful distraction for a bad round of golf (which I was having). Holes are fun and varied, and conditions were excellent, as was the weather. I call it an average value for the money, because rates here are not cheap, but I had a GolfNow deal....
The course has a good layout. Always fun to play.
The course was in good shape and appropriately mowed. The greens were not a fast as usual. The grass on greens was either longer than usual or not rolled recently. The course is always a fun track to play.
fun course but bunkers need attention
A lot of fun and tricky holes. Bunkers not maintained at all.
Traps in very poor conditions. Tees, fairways and greens good condition. GPS excellent.
Traps in very poor conditions. Tees, fairways and greens good condition. GPS excellent.
This course has everything! From driving range, putting and chipping greens, and two warm up holes or play off holes.
Best course that I've played this year. you must keep it on the short stuff. ruff is thick and brutal. Various tees for all levels of play.
Wonderful Day at Prarie Landing
As usual, Prarie was in great shape and a pleasure to play. The greens were not as fast as usual but that could've been due to frost this morning...yes frost May 13th. Otherwise it was as usual, great facility, wonderful staff and a fun, challenging course.
Nice Course
I've played here for years and have always enjoyed the course. Challenging, but fair.
One thing I did notice was the condition of the course. Sand traps were in poor condition(Short on Sand and not groomed). Other areas of the course seemed to be "let go"....weeds.
One suggestion, cut back on the "high grass areas". I know it's a link style course but, better groomed areas would increase overall course speed.
Great Golf Course
This is an excellent golf course, well maintained and conditioned.was very challenging for me.would diffinently play again.
