Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

its great enjoyable golf course always good greens
I always enjoy playing chardonnay gc regarless its foggy soggy 7 am winter tee time or 3 pm mid summer tee time I always have a great time playing this course...
Single that grouped up with a member
Booked a single for 7:57 am tee time. I ended up grouping up with a member and starting on back nine first. Experience was awesome with having the local knowledge of the course to help me guide through some of the more challenging holes. Bernie gave me tips on greens and even some info on how Chardonnay used to be a 27 that was coverted to an 18 hole course. Greens were challenging and for the most part the course was dry.
I actually think this is a "must do" on the list.
I have to say that I am a 13 capper and my son is a 6. Ths course kicked both our butts from the "double magnum" tees (3 away from the tips I thik). I honestly think that we should have played 1 back from the forward tees to really enjoy it.
Super beautiful surroundings and in good condition. Greens were fast that day. Couln't get to practice as the range was closed for some reason, so we were tight from traveling and cold (fog). Still a very good experience and we will definitely be back for revenge.
always a fun course to play
Got a great rate; can't beat this course for $40; beautiful drive out there and course was in top of the line shape
the course was in good condition even with the rain
I played this course in the middle of 3 storms. only one of the greens had standing water. All the other greens rolled true. with the amount of rain we have had, this course was in good condition.
This course has great features and feel different.
I like this course than feel like your in winery.
I want play again ASAP.
Wide open and fun
Each year my youngest son and I take advantage of the Thanksgiving Holiday with 18 holes. Last year we played in Southern California, this year it was Northern California’s turn to challenge us. We choose the Chardonnay Golf Club because I hate playing around houses, I’m a 14 handicap. The course is better in person than any picture on the internet. We had a 7:57am tee time, so we arrived at 7:00am to hit a few buckets and warm up a bit. The driving range was a bit small compared to a few others I have practiced on, so my boy and I shared a spot. It is nice being able to hit off the grass to warm up, as opposed to a mat. We went off right on time and lucky for us we were paired up with a local guy who happen to show up as a single. His course knowledge helped us both to play a great round. From the tee box, to the fairways, to the green the course was in excellent condition. Not a lot roll in the fairways, but the green were rolling true and fast, even with the morning dew sitting on them. Just as the reviews had mentioned it took all of five hours to play. We had a few groups in front of us that seemed to be playing a bit slow, but it all made since at the end of the round when I saw these same groups making the exchange of money in the club house. If you’re ever in the Napa area, I strongly recommend you play this course at least once. It is a bit of a challenge for a 14 handicap hitting off the green tees, but it is worth the money and the people that work in the pro shop and the restaurant are super friendly.
great layout through the vineyards...
great variety of holes...6 par 5's, 6 par 4's and 6 par 3's...
Lot's of Variety
This course has alot to offer. Definitely upscale from the usual public course fare. Very well Maintained. Interesting layout with 6 par 4's, 6 par 3's and six par 5's. Some very challenging holes for the 220- 250 yard driver. Lot's of fun
Beautiful course, spectacular vistas, the course is in great shape.
I really enjoyed the course, the staff was very helpful, and the course was in excellent condition. I would recommend this course to anyone who is thinking of playing in the north bay.
Great course to play.
I like this course. There are beautiful scenaries and the course is fair with many challengeing holes. The greens are in great condition. Just make sure you stay in bounds to avoid a high score.
Chardonay has never been better
I am a serious golfer...in that I take it seriously and appreciate it when a course takes its preparation seriously...and Chardonay has done just that...the course is in excellent condition and I have not seen their greens in this good of condition in 10 or 15 years. The truth is that I remember when Chardonay opened and yesterday when I played the greens were in the best shape I have ever seen them.
Generally the course condition at Chardonay is quite good, but for a great golfing experience it is the greens and their condition that sets a course apart from others. Most golfers know that Chardonay GC has a beautiful setting, classic design , and is a terrific golfing experience, but I had just had to let others know that they have begun to step it up to the next level when it came to making your golf experience great.
What else do you want!!!
This place is awesome! I have played private courses and this one can easily be a qualifier for a major. This course is groomed well. You can tell they actually roll the greens and put seed in the divots. Everywhere you look you are surrounded by grapevines which have a unique allure altogether. A 5 star rating should only be reserved for courses like the Olympic Club but this place is as good as it gets for the price. If you catch this course on a hot deal you are most certainly winning. The course layout couldn't be better. This course offers some flat holes and some very elevated hole. This is a must play course!
solid course,beautiful fall colors,good value
Really nice Fall day,the course was in good condition although the greens a little bumpy (time of year) but overall very good.
Nice layout, relaxing scenery and golf course in great condition.
Beautiful golf course, nice layout, relaxing view & great weather . Will come back here again
fun course
We would play there again. The conditions were very good and lunch was excellent and a good value.
Nice course but slow play.
This course was nice to play and provided just the right amount of challenge for me (I'm a 9). Since I played on a Saturday it was the slowest round I have ever played (5+ hours). They packed way to many people on. If you choose to play here try and do it on a weekday or in the morning.
Could not finish in 6.5 hours on Friday.
"4 and 1/2 hr today". Visited with some anticipation while on business as a single. The guy behind the counter seems normal but noted multiple three-somes being sent out and made me wait. When I mentioned that I could join, he goes, "Ahh, !?%, Ah, okay" and sent me out. Not so bright. The course seems reasonable. Can see financial problems; up keep is poor. The most atrocious thing was the incredibly slow pace, which no one cared to manage. Played 15 holes in 6+ hours before sunlight ran out. I don't live in the area, and I would not play here at any price until they begin to cut the fairways and greens and have a ranger with reasonable intelligence.
the course is a fun, interesting design
The fairway conditions were better than many of the other bay area courses at this time of year (not as dry). The greens were fast and true. I always have a fun time when I come here to play golf.
Great course
Difficult course if playing fron the back tees. Lots of hazards!
Any course that doesn't treat its paying customers with respect and overbooks a tee sheet deserves 2 stars or less, regardless of the course conditions. If they don't give a darn about you after they get your money, then there's a price to pay for the club as a whole.
We/I did call the club house on 4th or 5th green (a par 5) after nearly 1:30+ into the play. I got; "the ranger just came in & said all is great." They did say another one will be sent out, who turned out to be very stealth. At the 11th tee, the cart lady told us that there are poeple packed all over the place, but there were some gaps. . . To find well managed better conditioned courses that can be had without spending >$100, just get yourself out of California. You don't know what you're missing.
There is no way this place should get a 2 star rating. If it was that slow you should have called the pro shop; I am sure they would have sent someone out to get to the bottom of the slow play. They have a call box on 9, there is no excuse. If you honestly feel this course deserves a 2 star then I really want to see what your 3 star courses look like.
