Love Sanctuary GC
Brought several friends down from Savannah (their first time at SCG) and all were thrilled about all aspects of Sanctuary. The food in the clubhouse is phenomenal, service is impeccable, and the course is beautiful, challenging and very well kept. Nothing negative to say about Sanctuary. Range balls included is a nice touch. Always enjoy myself when playing here. Each of my buddies thoroughly enjoyed the experience as well.
In for a Treat
When checking in - staff told us we were in for a treat! It was! Great round! Course is in great shape! We will be back
Great Course
We had a blast playing Sanctuary even though the weather didn't hold up. The staff was very friendly, and the food at the clubhouse is top notch. The only thing I would say is the normal price of $120 is a bit out of my price range but I wouldn't say it's anything out of the ordinary for the area. That's what golf now is for anyways right??? Overall great experience and I will have to make it back ASAP!
Wonderful greens
Very clean course, fun to play and friendly people
Played as a single in 2:20. Course was fairly empty on a Thursday. Very well maintained. Didn’t have a bad lie all day. Generous fairways and large greens. Don’t get on the wrong side of the ridges on the greens. Enjoyed the course very much
Fantastic Golf Course
I’ve played this course many times year’s back and then recently with the Veteran Golfer Association match. It was in great shape and one of the nicest courses in our area. The staff were super and very friendly. The guys working in the bag drop off area were great. Also the young man that checked us in at the Pro shop was very friendly. Everything was perfect and the whole facility is top class. I’ll be hitting this course again on every opportunity.
Best course in the area!
Fantastic golf course! Staff was as friendly as anywhere you will go. Course is country club nice but atmosphere is not stuffy. Very welcoming and inviting. Wide open off the tee but approach shots are exceptionally tough. All greens are elevated and if you miss even a little, you’re rolling way off into grass or sand bunkers. Absolutely love this place!
Great course Things like
I love this course, They have the friendliest staff of anywhere I play. Course is always in perfect condition.
Top public course in the area it seems
Was driving back to Florida after the RSM Heritage on Hilton Head Island and my research told me this was the best, or one of the best valued courses from there to the Florida border. Having just spent 2 weeks playing the entire Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama with the Trail Pass, $85 for a hot deal here feels more than a little steep, but it's a steal compared to HHI. The RTJ GT will destroy any comparitive value you'll ever hope to find anywhere in the world really... Not an exaggeration in the least. And Hilton Head is overpriced rich tourist gouging at its finest (only a 30 ball warm up bucket comes with $150+ rounds). But I digress.
Sir gentleman in the pro shop here is a champ of customer service and heck of a friendly fellow. Wish they made more of guys like him. The course is in good shape overall, a decent enough challenge from the tips for a scratch player, especially with the par 3s as advertized, although it's pretty resorty off the tee with generous fairways (hard to complain about not losing a ball). The wind wasn't really blowing my day of play, but I can see how you'd want those wider fairways some days. Greens were in great shape; green everywhere, not fast, but definitely not slow. A couple putts did get away from me due to grain. The main thing I noticed immediately though was how much spin I'd get on short iron approach shots. I ripped a few wedges back 15', and I normally have a one hop and stop shot. I suppose this is due to the greens being somewhat soft, where you really get a deep pitch mark you won't miss. Consistent speed throughout the course though. What else. The track itself is somewhat unremarkable in the grand scheme of all courses everywhere, but I can see how it's one of the better layouts on the area. I heard that the Heritage Oaks course owned by the same guy had more dogleg and might be more interesting for a better player, but conditions aren't currently comparable to this course. Either way, a great, peaceful setting to end my 23.5 rounds in 18 days lone wolf golf trip. Any course is ultimately my sanctuary, but I'm glad I ended at THE Sanctuary.
