Shorecliffs Golf Club
About
Shorecliffs Golf Course wanders through the coastal canyons and valleys of San Clemente, heading towards the beautiful shoreline. Situated just steps from the ocean, the course enjoys cool ocean breezes and a temperate climate, which makes it a year-round haven for golfers. Its location also provides the golf course with plenty of scenic ocean views. The course features narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and small greens bordered by sand bunkers. The front nine is shorter and requires more accuracy than the longer, wider back nine. Shorecliffs opens with one of the trickiest par-5s in the area. This dogleg left hole features trouble both left and right. Although the layout does offer a fair challenge, players of all skill levels will feel comfortable taking on the golf course.

would have had a better score of it wasn't for the first two holes Photo submitted by champ471 on 06/17/2014
Uh waste of time .lousy course ,more like a cow patch.
Better off at a executive course or 9 hole pitch n putt.
Under construction
The course was in good shape in places but so much is under construction that the round was not a great experience. When the course is finished it will be great, but not yet.
Shorecliffs under reno
Pace of play was great. Loads of construction everywhere which wasn’t ideal, but still a lot of fun and a challenging course.
Under renovation
Terrible course conditions. #4 closed. Other holes under constuction. Club house gutted. Would not rrcommend until renovation is done.
Shorecliffs GC
Not worth money we paid especially since golf course was under repair. Did not enjoy playing. Maybe if price was reduced to $30 instead of $42.
Waiting for renovations anything would be better
They have been renovating for seems like years so I took a chance hoping to see something. Very disappointed green fees dont add up place is a dump.
Good time
Course is under renovation but the holes that were open were in pretty good condition. No club house or driving range at the moment. Looks like it will be a while before that reopens. People playing in front of us were slow but so were the people in front of them. Saw lots of mulligans.
It’s looking better
Though the course is getting better every time I play it
You can tell they are taking better care of it and the greens were great shape
Changes
It’s been along time since I’ve played shorecliffs. I’ve always loved the course. It’s tight in the greens have always been in great shape. The fairways are in pretty good shape. Some of the greens have shrunk it’s definitely tough to hit them. It looks like they’re sinking a lot of money in this course and down the road it’ll be pretty nice. All in all a great day.
Fun Day
The course is challenging, to many split holes, greens in good shape, tee boxes need some grass. Other than that a good day golfing . the new owners have made and are making great changes in upgrading the course, in time it will be very nice in the future.
Very Dissapointed
So I have played this course numerous times over the year and while it has been under construction. Having said that let me start. I had the first Tee Time on Memorial Day 5/31/2021 being the first group off of the Tee's at 6am as a 2some. I found that the fairways were way over watered, although beautiful and in remarkably good shape for a Southern California course, not hard and runny like many. Still very, very wet. My friend and I were moving along at a nice clip through 8 then we go under the tunnel and bam we hit 9 and there is a 2 some in the middle of the fairway who had just tee'd off. I asked them why they were on 9 when they paid for back nine only. Anyway, after a very lengthy wait for them (older gentleman who didn't hit very far, hats off to them for being out), my friend and I hit and completed the hole rather quickly as we both pared the hole. Then bam we hit 10, there is a 2 some on the green, and a 4 some on the tee waiting to hit, and the elderly 2 some who immediately said you guys play faster please go ahead. The group on the box was hitting so we figured ok we will ask them to play through at next tee.. When we got to 11 we asked if we could play through them because the group ahead of them was well out and this group was not hitting well, we were met with we can't go ahead they had the cart path blocked as it was a par 3. Anyway to bring this to a conclusion this course is run like Amateur's, even though it has been around for years. First off, players who pay for back 9 actually get to play 10 because there is no starter there to corridinate players, in fact there wasn't on on 1 either. Secondly when I did mention it to the one Ranger we saw on the course he said nothing to the group in front of us. I fully understand that the course is under construction and it is going to be beautiful when it is completed. However, you really need to get your act together and better start now because I now see why the course gets a bad rap. My friend and I used to play a lot together in the same way as first group out as a 2 some and have never run across this type of inconsiderate behavior by others on the back nines. In fact, it is an unwritten rule and at may courses a written rule that if a group from the front 9 comes up on you at 10 and you are just starting you are supposed to let them play through in order to properly track course times. You need to turn your sprinklers off a bit earlier because you are over soaking the fairways in many areas. The greens were beautiful and considering the construction so was the course it is just a shame you have Amateur's Running your course. I may stop in for an afternoon round or later morning round because I really do like the challenge of this course it reminds me of many from back in the Chicago area, but I would never play early morning again because just as you get into a rhythm it is broken by lack of Course Leadership on the back.
