About
Shorecliffs Golf Course wanders through the coastal canyons and valleys of San Clemente, heading towards the beautiful shoreline. Situated just steps from the ocean, the course enjoys cool ocean breezes and a temperate climate, which makes it a year-round haven for golfers. Its location also provides the golf course with plenty of scenic ocean views. The course features narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and small greens bordered by sand bunkers. The front nine is shorter and requires more accuracy than the longer, wider back nine. Shorecliffs opens with one of the trickiest par-5s in the area. This dogleg left hole features trouble both left and right. Although the layout does offer a fair challenge, players of all skill levels will feel comfortable taking on the golf course.

The course is in terrible condition and you can only play 17 out of 18 holes.
The golf no price for this golf course is outrageous. There should be ashamed of themselves!
Airiation not disclosed. Greens were cat boxes.
When making the tee time, I did not see that the greens had been punched.. Hole one had 2 inches of sand covering the green. There was NO green.
The course was frequently mushy and poorly drained.
I expected better conditions.

Cliffs but no Shore, Unimpressive!
Pros: The staff was amazing and the Marshall even gave advice from time to time for best success on certain holes. Friendly and fun environment.
Cons: The course was in terrible condition, mud, water everywhere. Take a lot of balls because if you are not on the fairway, the ball is gone! Honestly the layout and cart path was hard to navigate from hole to hole.

still a lot of construction with some temp changes to keep 18 holes in play. Lot of excess trees shrubs removed so less lost balls and improved pace of play. Fairways still good rough on the short side. bunkers covid condition and tees the weakest part of the course. greens are quick with some showing wear from increased play and poor pitch mark repair .but still are some of the best around

62 years old played here first time in 1978. The course was being worked on then and hasn’t been completed yet.
I think the course could be fun IF ever done. Hope it will be done before I step off VERY FRUSTRATING

Changing but a lot the same
I have played Shorecliffs more times than I can count. I have had some fun days and some flat out weird experiences - a guy was walking his dog off leash one day when I hit what might well have been an ace on #4 excpet his dog chased my ball down on the green right before the cup and picked it up. Then we had to chase the dog all over the hole and never did get the ball! So Shoreclifss has um, "character" There are of course the famous "land slide holes" where the hillside has come down across what used to be #5 and #6. Currently that area is being rehabbed and as a result 3 temporary green have been put in. One cuts up what was probably the hardest opening hole in Orange county the par 5 #1 dog leg left is now a short par 3 and a short par 4 (helped me this round!) number 9 was a wicked dog leg right par 4 and is now another short 3 and short 4. On the back 11 was a super skinny par 5 with OB on the left and a lateral on the right. It is now also divided into a 3 and a 4. Having said that, there are still a few holes that are a magnificent challenge. The 200yd up hill par 3 13th is not to be ignored, and the par 5 16th is a big risk/reward play. The clubhouse is still about the most broken down anywhere, but everyone is friendly and the food and drinks are great. Most of the folks that dislike Shorecliffs are not up to the challenge IMHO. Its not easy even at its current 68 par layout.

lot of construction projects so course currently looks torn up around the edges. playing conditions are still mostly ok with fairways and greens in good shape.
