About
Shorecliffs Golf Course wanders through the coastal canyons and valleys of San Clemente, heading towards the beautiful shoreline. Situated just steps from the ocean, the course enjoys cool ocean breezes and a temperate climate, which makes it a year-round haven for golfers. Its location also provides the golf course with plenty of scenic ocean views. The course features narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and small greens bordered by sand bunkers. The front nine is shorter and requires more accuracy than the longer, wider back nine. Shorecliffs opens with one of the trickiest par-5s in the area. This dogleg left hole features trouble both left and right. Although the layout does offer a fair challenge, players of all skill levels will feel comfortable taking on the golf course.

Not all that unusual
Shorecliff has been undergoing some major renovations over the last year- yet they continue to over book. Pace of play was so slow we quit after the 9th. Fairways were super wet also.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Let's do one hole at a time!
Played Shorecliffs since my early teens, now in my 50's. Granted this place has seen disaster with the floods, landslides and all that stuff over the years. Hadn't played it in a long time until just recently as our group had been starting to play there. A bit of over hyping it to my tastes. The greens have always been good. But the course itself has a lot to be desired. A good hard hole #1 which was a par 5 is now hole #1A and Hole #1B. ??? Was a par 5, now split up into a short first hole par 3 and a short second hole par 4. And the par three #1A is a temp green that is in horrible sandy shape. Then there is a clog on the #1 B hole because most decent golfers can reach it with a 3 wood, people waiting for the green to clear clogs it up a bit. Not a good start. I can see the need to have these alternate holes with the loss of #5 where the slides were. Re opening up the par 3 #6 or what ever # of hole it is right now is nice. Good looking hole. But then the Par 5 #9 is yes, a short par 4 and a short par 3 for holes #7 and #8. then #9 is on the other side of the freeway which used to be #10. What? Then more holes split up to make it a full 18 on the back. A bunch of patchwork. My suggestion is work on one hole at a time. But they dont, they have holes cut up in twos, because #3 is closed, #5 is none existent. Had #6 closed at the same time, doing work on other holes at the same time. AND #13 the up hill par 3 is an abortion. Hit an iron in the middle of the green, only to have the ball come back off the green, roll all the way back down the hill and into a mud pit. My ball mark was past pin high on the green. Granted from #14 and in, the course is fine, actually fun to play but the rest of it is always wet, muddy and way too much construction on too many holes. Think we will wait until they get the new hole built where the slides were and the course back to regulation before we return.

They’re trying
Starter didn’t wear his mask properly. Greens are getting better. Beverage cart is new and nice option. Construction always seems to short you a hole or two.

Where do I get my money back
If I would have known their major re-construction going on I wouldn’t have chosen this course. No where in GolfNow mention this info. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!!!
If you want to play this course wait at least 2 years to finish construction maybe then it’s worth revisit.

Not worth the time
I appreciate them trying to stay open during Covid but this place has no business staying open with the amount of construction going on. The place is a train wreck I wouldn’t play it again if you paid me. Maybe another couple years when construction is done, til then don’t waste your time.

Fun day
We like this place bc it’s cheap and chill. Starter let us out alittle early and finished easily before dark 1:24 tee time. Hole 5 par 3 finally open for play again but was surprised to see hole 3 closed.. they were just doing alittle work by tee boxes so not sure why

Terrible
The conditions were very bad, from tee box to fairway to the greens. The course was also chopped up; many holes that were par 5’s were turned into par 3’s. My GPS was all confused as to which hole it was on.

Green was punch that did not alert the player before booking
The course is under construction, green are air regatta.
Staff are not friendly- they forget we are the customers.
I.E. On hole number 7 the Marshall stop us for checking our tttime to make sure we are not playing illegally.
Never play here again with this kind of attitude.
