Shorecliffs Golf Club
About
Shorecliffs Golf Course wanders through the coastal canyons and valleys of San Clemente, heading towards the beautiful shoreline. Situated just steps from the ocean, the course enjoys cool ocean breezes and a temperate climate, which makes it a year-round haven for golfers. Its location also provides the golf course with plenty of scenic ocean views. The course features narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and small greens bordered by sand bunkers. The front nine is shorter and requires more accuracy than the longer, wider back nine. Shorecliffs opens with one of the trickiest par-5s in the area. This dogleg left hole features trouble both left and right. Although the layout does offer a fair challenge, players of all skill levels will feel comfortable taking on the golf course.

would have had a better score of it wasn't for the first two holes Photo submitted by champ471 on 06/17/2014
a much better course now
I played this Couse couple years ago. It is getting better and better since new owner coming in. You can tell they are working hard on everything in order to make your game enjoyable.
Cons:
So many holes are cart path only, it causes slow paly pace
Some hole locations were in ridiculous. Making the difficult course even more difficult
Wired layout
Be ready to feel extremely frustrated on this tight & unforgiving fairway with small and hard green, not mention the hole location yet.
Great course. Loved it, but…
First time here. This was a great, fun and beautiful course for my wife and me to play. Pro shop folks were good and the starter was an amazing guy. My only hesitation in recommending this course is that you will have to get over the young, entitled, dismissive, frat boy group of cart boys to begin and end your round. They ignored us when we arrived, giving us no direction or any amount of customer service. Once we figured it all out and finally got our cart we played an amazing round and had a great time. Tee boxes were good, fairways were awesome and the fast greens were fun and challenging. Loved playing here. Even the cart girl was attentive and detailed. Turning in the cart was a similar, negative experience as at the start…no acknowledgment or direction. We are not demanding people in the least, but we could have used a little help. Maybe this was an anomaly and it’s normally good with some sort of an adult in charge, but anyone playing there, especially for the first time, should know what you may be in for. All in all, a good day that could have been a great day.
Fun yet challenging
The course is quite challenging but provides a decent enjoyment on the course.
A beginner golfer might want to bring some extra used balls for narrow fairway courses, though ;=)
Good local value
Nice local course. Some of fairways a little narrow, and hole 7, in particular is a chronic problem. Greens variable. Would play there again
Headed in the right direction
For the first time in 5+ years I can honestly say that the course, management, and overall vibes of shorecliffs are all headed in the right direction. From the cart attendants, to the starter, to the restaurant/bar staff, everybody was friendly, professional, and actually looked like they were enjoying their jobs and wanted to be there. As for the course, there is certainly still room for improvement but you can tell the new Super actually knows what he’s doing and is putting in the effort and care that this course has needed for a long time.
Fairways 3.5/5
Greens 4/5 a touch in the slow side
Tee boxes 3.5/5 Best shape I’ve seen them in
Sand 2/5 raked, but most were still hard as a rock
Don’t be afraid to take less than driver off almost every tee. It’s a short course with a fair amount of tight fairways so no need to be aggressive off the tee. Hit it 200 yards down the middle and take a short iron in. Plenty of scoring opportunities even if you play conservative.
Good OC Value
Fun course in decent shape. Marshalls need to push pace of play better. There was a foursome of ladies in front of us who were very slow. We waited on every shot. The twosome in front of them were hitting multiple balls and also very slow.
Bad. Don’t play
The course was in horrid shape. The ruff was just like the fairway. The green's were bumpy and slow.
Slow pace on weekends but a fun challenging course
On weekends the pace can be a bit slow. However it’s a nice course and staff is friendly. The first half has tight fairways so you might need to club down if you want to beat the course.
Price is right
I went to play there mostly because of the price
The front line was a little rough and not a lot of grass more dry areas, etc.
The greens were in good shape
The back 9 was much much better
The clubhouse is great, lunches, full bar, cold beer.
Certainly cooler than in the valley.
I would play it again.
One thing that was super annoying was all their new carts, but they hardly let you go on any of the fairways. The cart restrictions were ridiculous.
Considering the conditions of the fairways.
Great value and fun
A little slow, but conditions were pretty decent. Pretty narrow tough course at times. But overall a fun track
