Sweetwater Country Club is situated amid the beauty of the Wekiva State Park. Sweetwater is one of Orlando's premier golf courses, boasting a challenging championship layout with some of the area's best greens. The classic links layout brings a taste of Scottish golf to central Florida. Mature oaks shade the golf course, lining the fairways and framing the greens. The 6,238-yard layout offers a good amount of length but it's definitely not a grip-it-and-rip-it course thanks to tight fairways that require accurate shot placement. The course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the Southeast, a challenging 625-yard hole that is aptly named the "Loch Ness Monster." The heavily tree-lined hole double doglegs around a large lake. There are some challenging holes but Sweetwater Country Club isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Rough is outta control

Played Sunday. Very slow round due to the amount of time spent looking for balls just off the fairway in the FOOT tall rough.

Broken equipment? ICE get your staff? Seriously should contract out to a company like Down to Earth.

MOW the rough!

Rough is a foot all again. However, they do now it every six weeks or so, whether it needs it or not.

Surprisingly great!

despite there being no chipping or driving range, the course was fun and pretty. some of the fairways needed help. but the greens were perfect!. gas powered golf carts, with no gps. great pace of play. straight forward. sometimes you will have the starter put you on hole #10 to start because hole 1 is straight into houses. they say they do this because there is no warm up area, so they are protecting houses. didn't really bother me. but i think hole one would be nice to start because 18 is a great finishing hole. the round went by too fast.

Getting Better

I played Sweetwater a few weeks ago and gave it a comprehensive review. I concluded that its owners and staff are working hard to make it a course anyone would want to play. Playing it again I can only say it is even better than it was. I highly recommend supporting this course.

Great shape!

Gave this one a try after not playing it for awhile and was not disappointed. Pleasantly surprised actually. Always loved the layout, but the greens had been in bad shape for the longest time. They have recovered nicely with the recent rain. They may be a little slow for some people’s liking, but they run true. No bare spots. Staff is great, good food. Great value. It’s my new go-to course.

Rough is 12” tall!!

Need more grass in the fairways and less in the rough. I saw 3 big snakes in the rough while looking for my partner’s golf ball. Very unsightly.

Great Potential; Fun Course

I am told that when it was first opened, Sweetwater was a great golf course. Over the years it apparently did not get the attention it needed. I would rate it as a good golf course right now. Having talked to a number of players on the course while I played, they were very positive about the current owners and management are making it better step-by-step. The staff, club house, restaurant and bar are excellent. I will play it again.

Old Sweet

Played this course back before the dismantling of the pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, driving range, shortening of holes. It was the spot in North Orlando. I played it during Covid for over a year too. Other than new clubhouse nothing has changed. Weeds everywhere and a lack of grass, the greens are poor as well with bad spots on most of them. Sorry to see the decline of this course. Not worth the ticket price.
