Ormeau Golf Club

At a decent chunk of money for a 9 hole course, I was vastly disappointed.

I recently played there on a semi-rainy day. Most of my play was not raining although it previously had been.

I asked on arrival if the course was okay to play on and was assured it was. 2 of the greens were completely flooded and therefore unplayable, the course was like a bog on many holes and the holes were all flooded. This to me should not have been playable and no bookings should have been taken.

The fairways on some of the holes were also not great.

Feedback for the club, either investing in drainage relief to make the course more playable when it’s rained or have the decency to close the course instead of letting people play what ended being a 4 hole course.

Unfortunately I won’t be back which is a shame as it’s very handy to me. I also in the current state wouldn’t recommend it to a friend and would more likely discourage them from playing

I very rarely leave a review but I think the club need the feedback because for £23 it was really not worth the money

First time I’ve played ormeau in a year or so.

Given how wet it’s been- greens in excellent condition, rolling well and fast.

Fairways firm and well kept.

Would play again, that said always backed up in places owing to layout

My wife and I booked, as visitors via Golf Now, to play 18 holes on this mature 9 hole course. Play on the first 9 was a bit slow but acceptable. We assumed that players would alternate off the 1st and the 10th in the usual way but had to wait for 35 minutes after our first 9 while a small society teed off. We were about to tee off on the 10th when one of a pair of golfers who had just come off the 9th approached us and announced that they were playing through as they were in a club match. They then called after the four young lads who had just teed off and asked them to stand aside as club matches have priority!!?? Play became painfully slow so that we gave up after 15 holes. Hopefully other visitors don’t have the same experience!

Great little course. Very friendly staff . Great food afterwards.

At the end of a week during which we enjoyed kind weather, Ormeau Road Gc benefitted from the sun’s kisses.

The ground was in great condition. Balls bouncing on the fairways as birds chatted in the nearby hedges gave indication that the frustrations of winter were behind us.

We enjoyed an early 9 holes in just over an hour and still had the rest of the day to navigate.

Great ‘wee’ course near Belfast City and Ulster’s rugby stadium.

We will return.

Course itself is OK, however it was so wet in various places. Weather obviously not their fault, but could have helped the course conditions with small changes , mandatory use of matts / no trolleys to help the ground etc.

Booked 18 holes at Ormeau, on arrival course was closed, still waiting on £31.99 refund as have had no response to email I sent asking for a refund

Really enjoyed my round here. Surprised how firm the ground was given the bad weather we’ve had recently.

Have been meaning to play here for a while and with my course being closed that day I visited. Great condition considering the weather we have had and some really challenging holes. I will be back for sure.

Excellent course in really good condition for this time of year.

Have played 18 holes here before via GN for the same price as 9 on this occasion which is strange.

Supposed to tee off 2.20, didn't tee off until 3.40, six people waiting on first tee the whole time. Members had a competition on and were taking a LOOONNNNGGGG time, Guy in club shop explained and said they were running 15 minutes behind (slight underestimation). When eventually I did get started it was madness, people were eager to get around at least once so were taking shots with people on the fairway., balls flying everywhere) Each tee box had at least 4 people waiting to tee off. First par 3 had a tee box right behind the green and as I was pressured by the crowds behind me to tee off my shot bounced off the green and hit a golfer standing on tee box RIGHT behind the green. Apologised and was told the green was moved there for some reason. The club grossly overbooked course in their greed and everyone that tee-ed off after the competition were lucky to get 9 holes in. The course is also seemingly in the middle of a public park with children and dogs everywhere, Absolutely appalling, but at least I know now and will never be back. RIP OFF ARTISTS!

Well maintained 9 hole course. First T could be better sign posted as you park up.

Pro Shop well stocked and Owen friendly and helpful.

I’d guess a visitor from abroad would benefit from better sign posting along the approach streets around Ormeau Park area.

Other wise well worth a visit👍🏌️

Course was immaculate today ..enjoyed 18 holes ..

Great 9 hole course in heart of Belfast. Some holes need to cross due to relatively small size of the area it this doesn't spoil the round. Greens and fairways are very well kept and some challenge despite short length. Can be a busy place but worth playing and a great fun course.
