Great Little Trek

One of my favourite NI courses... Almost 100 year old course, Not the longest but not short either. Some very tricky drives.. and tough enough to score on.

Some really good holes...

- 1 (Par 5. you need to be brave and cut the corner)

- 5 (Driveable par 4, but easy to lose a ball

- 6 (Par 5, tough drive, then into a raised green)

- 7 (Par 4, tough drive, need to cut the corner)

- 13 Really Picturesque long 4

- 14, SI1 - honestly I don't know how to lay this and Im a single figure golfer

Gear, well maintained course.

Brilliant course for all levels, good wide fairways to let the big stick go and also some tricky par 3s and 4s to test the shorter game!

A true gem of a course.

Myself and my teenage son played the course for the first time as visitors on the 8th July and thought it was fantastic.

The lady in the pro shop was extremelly efficient and helpful.

The course was in amazing condition, especially the bunkers (although I spent to much time in them)

The greens and the close fringes were in lovely condition, top marks to the ground staff.

Pace of play was very good, which also adds to an enjoyable round.

Overall a very good days golf and will definitely be back.

Let the course do the talking

The lady in the Pro shop was rather dry and disconcerting but don't let that deter you from getting to know this Eddie Hackett layout. This course can be difficult at first but play it at least three times before passing judgement. Clubbing the doglegs is the main challenge and the first tee shot sets the tone. There is a good variety of holes. Some tight drives, some open. My favourite part was booming drives over the many crests & braes to watch my ball sweep against the backdrop of the Mourne mountains. The greens are fair and we'll maintained, stay below the hole on 15. The stroke index one 14th is as tough an approach shot as your likely to face. The narrow passage to the green can only be accessed by a well placed, and borderline hooked tee shot. Pity about the man made duck pond which spoils an otherwise good hole. A lay up may be a wise decision or you can skim the water like I unintentionally did. The best shot on the course is the approach to the seventh. It makes up for the indecisiveness you encounter on the tee box. I will definitely be back to Kilkeel, I prefer to Warrenpoint, sshhhh.

What a Gem

Beautiful location, everything about the course was excellent, tee boxes, fairways, greens and the weather. Was a joy to stroll down the beautiful lush fairways. Some are tight and put you under pressure. Greens held a ball well and were a good pace. A very nice par 5 18th hole. The four of us very much enjoyed our round and said we would definitely return to play. Lived in northern Ireland for a long time and we were amazed that we hadn't heard more about this course. Very enjoyable

Fun Parkland course

Picked up a great hot deal and was surprised with a very good parkland course that was a nice change of pace from all the links courses we had played. Had some excellent holes that were challenging but fair. Condition was good, especially the greens. Hilly so would suggest a buggy or electric trolley. Everyone was extremely friendly.

Course

Course is long and tiring if you are walking and not using an electric trolley or a buggy. Many undulating fairways with some steepish climbs.

Good undulating course

This course was in good condition and was a pleasure to play. High tee boxes coupled with elevated greens and meandering fairways mean each hole offers something different.

A brilliant deal at Kilkeel

A perfect fall Sunday at Kilkeel. The greens were in decent shape. The fairways relatively clear of the falling leaves. For the price it would be difficult to find a better deal.
