About
Situated just minutes from the Gold Coast beaches in the heart of Boca Raton, Southwinds Golf Course enjoys warm ocean breezes and lush vegetation. Water is a prominent presence throughout the course. Water hazards come into play on 16 holes. There are also mature trees throughout that will play a deciding role in shaping your shots. The golf course offers some enjoyably difficult holes but overall the challenges are manageable. Each hole is unique offering everything from opportunities to "grip it and rip it" and others that are defined by trees and lakes. The golf course finishes with one of its many water holes but on this par 4, you have to hit over water twice. In addition to the golf course, Southwinds also offers a driving range a putting green with a practice bunker.

too many slow players
Too many players in front of you, not even possible to finish 9 holes in 21/2 hours, piling up the whole time, played 7 holes from 16.00 to 18.15!!!
Southwinds slow....
Course was in good shape....not great. Greens were better than the last t,e we played in 2016. Fairways ok. Course gets a lot of play so it may be hard to maintain. Only complaint is slow play by some foursomes that do not play ready golf. We are recreation players not professionals. Get ready to hit your ball while the other players are hitting. A round of golf should not take 5 1/2 hours. Guys in the clubhouse and starter were great.

Friendly
Southwinds has the friendliest staff at any Boca course. !A great course for those not looking to get too frustrated, although there are some challenging holes. Most fairways are in good shape; and no complaints about the greens.

A very nice, albeit very short course. Middle tees were maybe 5400 and the back played about 6000 yds.
Very well maintained course. Tee boxes were lush, the fairways were excellent with nary a bare spot anywhere. The greens were all excellent, but there wasn't much break to them.
The only drawback I found, was the mostly older crowd that plays here doesn't know how to walk across a green in cleats, without dragging their feet. I think I did more tamping down cleat marks with my putter than the maintenance guys did. I should send them a bill- LOL!!!
Also.....old guys, I know it may be difficult to bend, but at least try to fix your ball marks on the greens.
Other than that small complaint, I will definitely return for another enjoyable round!

Odd Layout with Lots of Layups
Course was in very good shape. Tight lies in the grass covered fairways so the ball doesn't sit up well. But it's in really good shape. My issue was having to hit lots of lay up shots to stop from finding blind water hazards or to not go off course. Some parts 4s were 3 shot holes due to this only leaving 1 putt for a par. You have to be able to bend the ball a lot. Dogleg in both directions. No rakes at the bunkers either. Staff was super courteous both inside and out. The round had some places we waited on every shot, and no Ranger on the course. I'd probably go back just to play it again now that I've seen the course once, but I also drove 40 minutes to get there so my mind may change. Municipal golf. What else can I say. The price was right and it always beats a day at work.

With water on 16 of our 18 holes, play can definitely be challenging and requires good shot placement, but we are certain you will find this adds to the enjoyment of the course when you return. As far as the rakes, each of our golf carts comes equipped with a rake on the back, so you don't have to seek one out at the sand traps.

Excellent pace of play
Great early tee-time. We finished in 3:45 and had the whole afternoon for other things.

Great staff, nice greens and ok layout and fairway
An average course that had plenty of water and hard fairways.
Terrific Public Course
When you pay $50 per person for a tee time, you want a course like this. Well maintained from tee to green. There were some challenging holes. Bunkers were strategically placed and there was water all around. Certainly a shot maker's course. Staff was friendly and organized.

Well maintained but questionable layout
Greens were in very good shape and fast. The course layout is somewhat questionable. Some Par 4s you have to tee off with a short iron to avoid obstacles and no room for a driver or long iron. The worst being # 13.

Southwinds was designed as a "target" type golf course where a premium is placed on accuracy and not length. While many golfers do enjoy Southwinds, I understand your desire to have a course with longer holes to test your skill. Palm Beach County has another golf facility just a short five minute drive from Southwinds - Osprey Point Golf Course. This course has tee box locations which (if you play from the back tees) will put the course just a few yards shy of 7,000 yards. Please give Osprey Point a try on your next golfing venture in South Palm Beach County or if you are in Northern Palm Beach County, give Park Ridge or Okeeheelee, other County golf facilities, a try. Again, please know we appreciate your comments and look forward to seeing you at one of Palm Beach County's golf facilities soon.
Southwinds
Course was not in good condition although the greens were fine. The layout has a few holes that sure not the best of design.Not a bad value but I will not play it again there are better courses in the area

Fair at best
Fairways like hitting off bale of hay. Greens are very fast and readable with not much break.

I wouldn't go back. Probably ok for new players and kids.

The recent rain and cold weather have caused the bermuda grass to go off color, a problem that will be remedied as soon as the weather warms back up. This is a challenging course in which you have to use all your clubs. Course management is important to avoid any trouble. It was great.

Poo
The course was overpriced and it took us 6 hours to play because they partnered us up with people who never played golf before. Actually my worst golfing experience and I will never play this trash course again.

I am sorry you feel we are overpriced as Southwinds is one of the most affordable courses (if not the most affordable 18 hole golf course) in South Palm Beach County. On the Saturday you played, due to the torrential rains the day before, we were cart path only which slowed our pace of play on the day. We know it can be frustrating to play with golfers of different skill levels, but as we are not aware of our golfers' ability level, we can not always group pairs based upon their playing ability.
On this particular Saturday we were “sold out” and our records indicate that play averaged around 4 hours, 30 minutes for the day.

Good Course for experienced golfer
I enjoy this course, has some challenging holes, green are fairly quick and in good condition. Good course.
