About
Situated just minutes from the Gold Coast beaches in the heart of Boca Raton, Southwinds Golf Course enjoys warm ocean breezes and lush vegetation. Water is a prominent presence throughout the course. Water hazards come into play on 16 holes. There are also mature trees throughout that will play a deciding role in shaping your shots. The golf course offers some enjoyably difficult holes but overall the challenges are manageable. Each hole is unique offering everything from opportunities to "grip it and rip it" and others that are defined by trees and lakes. The golf course finishes with one of its many water holes but on this par 4, you have to hit over water twice. In addition to the golf course, Southwinds also offers a driving range a putting green with a practice bunker.

Requires coarse management
This is a short coarse (6000 yds from the tips), but it makes up for this with narrow fairways, and lots of water. The coarse also requires some coarse management. There are several par 4's that you may not want to hit your driver off the tee boxes. The greens were in good shape (almost 100% recovered from aeration). The bunkers were soft and good to hit out of. Some tee boxes were not in good shape (weedy or missing a lot of grass). There is water in play on the majority of holes.

Good conditions, not bad for public course. Good value
Short but good condition
Short course, lots of holes are sort of chopped up/in between clubs off tee but definitely a challenge. it challenges you to hit driver or layup on holes.
Greens were in excellent condition for the summer season. pace was fast for the most part, got hung up with some groups but broke off at the turn and really had no one around.
Driving range hits off mats and into water with "floater" balls......not my first choice but it works.
Pleasent surprise
The course was in very good shape and the greens were kept very well even though it had rained overnight. You do need a GPS for the course and it was not available. Gimikee course. You need dostances to the water and to the sharp turns it offers.
Would definitely play it again.
Short BUT Nice
Even from the back tees this is a short course. The water on 16 holes makes the tee shots much more challenging. Overall nice layout and interesting design.
Greens were perfect, fairways and tee boxes were fine.
Interesting Experience
Difficult to play as a twosume behind a foursume that includes some hackers. Especially when there are several open holes ahead of them and they don't invite you to play through. A marshal would have been nice. Otherwise a good experience

course is short.. But deceptively challenging ..layout is good
NIce short course, but with water trouble.
This is not a long layout. But errant shots easily find water since 16 of the holes have water trouble. The greens were in good shape and that is usually the case here. You can get a nice rate in the summer making this a good value. Bring a generous supply of balls, just in case you're off a little that day.
Another outstanding Boca course
I was really impressed with this course. Well maintained and was fun to play. The Boca municipal course are outstanding compared to some CC's.
Good Value
I played with my wife who is a beginner and I played from the back tees while she played from the family tees which worked out great. Aside from some thunder showers that brought us in we went back out and had a nice round.

Played 18 holes in less then 3 hours, enjoyed the greens and a challenging set of Par 4's on the back nine. I shall play here again soon.

I'll definitely be going back a lot this summer. I played 18 holes after 2pm for $15.00 with cart!
Southwinds
This is a good course to work on your short game. It's not a long course but you can find yourself in trouble with the water that's on the course.
Fairways are in rough shape
Overall below average course. The difficulty was above average however. The fairways were in rough shape with weeds and unfixed divots. The greens were in pretty good shape. Would not play again in this condition.
Fast pace for late day round
Actually, I joined up with a two-some of equal skill as my own, and we were able to complete 18 holes in a little under 3 hours. I like the idea of picking up a tee time late in the day and be home in time for happy hour.

This is a great course. It is short but still has some challenging holes.
It is a great course to fine tune your game.
The greens are truly in perfect condition.
It needs a Ranger as there are some players that need to be remembered about the fact that if you are holding people back and have 3 empty holes in front of you, you are required to let them through.

Course is well kept. Greens very nice for public. Fairways nicely cut not scalped.
