Callahan Golf Links
About
Callahan Golf Links in Waleska possesses a rich history of more than 150 years of farming and family ownership. Before being converted into a golf course, the site functioned as a farm from the Civil War until World War II. When creating the course, the natural beauty of the landscape was carefully preserved. As its name would suggest, the layout is a true links design with carefully placed pot bunkers and thick cuts of rough. Water is barely present but there are plenty of other challenges throughout that will quickly make you forget that fact. It is gentle enough for beginners but the back tees will challenge more experienced players. Golfers can also work on their short game on the chipping and putting greens or warm up on the driving range. The affordable rates make Callahan Golf Links an excellent value.

Nice course
Had a great time playing , course in great shape. pace was very slow as a group of 6 we’re playing together. Took way too long to finish.
Day Out
Nice layout. Fairways were in good shape but needed a bit more water. Greens were only fair
I thought the course was good. Nice layout. Need to roll the greens . They are very shaggy and slow. Some tee boxes need work.
So much potential
This course has a very good layout. Disappointing that the greens were so thick. Numerous groups in the parking lot prior to any staff arriving is a bad look. Would be a spectacular course if they had Bermuda instead of Bentgrass and invested more in the course amenities( Range, bar and grill). A nice back up course to get a tee time. There are too many other courses nearby that are a better value for it to be a first choice.
Nice course for the price
I know it’s the dog days of summer, but could use more water on the fairways…both drinking water coolers and on the grass. Most fairways are very dry. And the course “official” driving around with his big stogie couldn’t be bothered to wave back the three times he passed us at full speed…but I guess the cigar was getting in the way
Steve’s review
They keep the tee boxes in good shape. Very nice faraways and challenging greens. Excellent for the price
Good course
Front 9 - tee boxes and fairways in decent shape, greens were slow and shaggy, possibly in prep for the upcoming heat. Couple of hole designs were borderline crazy.
Back 9 - tee boxes in need of some TLC, fairways in good shape, greens had some speed, way better than front 9.
Views are second to none throughout the course.
Very few bailout options throughout the 18 holes. Gotta keep it straight and plan on extra roll with the summer conditions which will have you frustrated for sure.
Would love to see how this course would play with a bit more attention to details.
Risk-Reward Course
Greens are now holding shots. Unfortunately, golfers seem to ignore fixing ball marks, so there are some greens that are slightly bumpy, but still not bad. The layout is very challenging, as you have to weigh the risk-reward on most tee shots. An offline drive can result in a double bogey or worse, while a center-cut drive sets up a birdie opportunity. Fun course to play.
Good Value
You get more than what you pay for here. If you are expecting country club conditions for $40 then that's your problem. I played from the tips on a Friday afternoon and had a great time. Maybe a little slow but it's a fun course with a variety of shots and some decent elevation. The bunkers were in good shape but the greens were incredibly slow and had marks ALL OVER them. Come on people, it's a point of pride to repair your mark when you hit the green! "Clubhouse" was a little lacking, but I don't golf for the clubhouse. Off the beaten path for sure, but better than I expected when I pulled up. Would recommend if you just wanna play and don't need anything fancy. I'll be back for sure.
