Callahan Golf Links

About
Callahan Golf Links in Waleska possesses a rich history of more than 150 years of farming and family ownership. Before being converted into a golf course, the site functioned as a farm from the Civil War until World War II. When creating the course, the natural beauty of the landscape was carefully preserved. As its name would suggest, the layout is a true links design with carefully placed pot bunkers and thick cuts of rough. Water is barely present but there are plenty of other challenges throughout that will quickly make you forget that fact. It is gentle enough for beginners but the back tees will challenge more experienced players. Golfers can also work on their short game on the chipping and putting greens or warm up on the driving range. The affordable rates make Callahan Golf Links an excellent value.

Fun and challenging for a fair price
This was a great change from other courses that are tree lined with huge hills. The layout mixed with a foggy day felt like a true links style course. Cart girl was quickly making rounds but there was no Marshall to help keep pace of play. Being stuck behind a slow group happens but having another group then hitting in to you starts to get annoying. Overall great time for a great price.
Nice, but just ok
They don't have rain hoods on the back of golf carts. If it rains your clubs get wet.
So many rules posted everywhere. If you are hitting a range ball on the course you get kicked out??? I mean, are things that tight that a range ball is going to hurt you?
Greens are in good shape.
And
5 hour round due to threesome in front on our twosome.
3 Guys in front of us were terrible to follow. 5 hour round on a Tuesday.
Cool course
Bit of a change from playing in SW Florida with the elevation changes. Beautiful course and lay out. Greens rolled at a good pace and were easy to stick. A lot of ball marks from players not caring. No sand on the carts to repair divots. No coolers for drinks and no outside coolers. Luckily it’s not the heat of SW Florida. Overall a good experience. Will play again.
Oh Callahan
A course you might just pass by as a country bumkin course. Not the case, nice layout, good greens, tee boxes need work. Always very busy at if has great low greens fees. Give it a try..
Always a fun course...
The course has really come around this year and is in the best shape I can remember. There are a few Tee boxes that are in dire need of help. One par 3 has rough length weeds on it. Several are so hard that it is almost impossible to get a tee in the ground. I was disappointed that they didn't notify GolfNow about Aerating the greens. Given the fact that they were aerated, the greens weren't terrible. I've definitely putted on worse after this has been done. The course desperately needs to have a starter. Right now, the players just pretty much roll up to the tee box and go without any regard to their tee time or group size. That lends itself to a bunch of singles and twosomes scattered out throughout the course. Pace of play is definitely affected in a negative way. It should not take 5hours to play this course, but it often does.
Wish I knew the greens were punched
Great course. Played it several times before. Just wish it had said the greens were just punched. Still worth the hot deal price though. Love the layout; not having to hit driver all day if you’re struggling with it.
Grass range and a super chill staff make for nice vibes on the course too.
Pace was up and down. Played the front in 90min. Took more than 2 hours to play the back once we caught a few groups.
Good value track
Callahan has been our go-to course for leisure rounds. The value is excellent for the conditions provided. We got a 4-some around in 3.5 hours with minimal waiting.
The course has many areas where the grass is far below standard. A few greens and many tee boxes have either no grass in areas or are mostly cut down weeds. Furthermore, if your ball lands outside the fairway I’d suggest moving it to a patch of grass. There are rocks everywhere outside the fairway.
We will continue to play here and enjoy, but wish there was more standard grass conditions throughout.
