Good course, abandoned by developer?
This is an excellent course with great elevation changes and a few really challenging holes. It sits within an upscale development on the northern edge of Alpharetta. It appears that perhaps the developer was overly ambitious in his design, because most lots remain empty after years of marketing, and of the massive homes that exist, most are for sale.
The course is hard to find. There are few, if any signs to find the clubhouse - a trailer sitting in a parking lot.
The course itself is excellent, as stated. But the amenities at the course are non existent. The clubhouse is a bare trailer. You change your shoes at your car. The grill is, well, an actual gas grill on the steps of the trailer/clubhouse. There is no liquor license, so there is no beer. You get a golf course. That's it.
For the price of the greens fees, there are better amenities almost anywhere else, but not many better tracks. If you're just about the golf, it's recommended. If you want a club experience, this isn't for you.
One of the best US courses I have ever played.
Amazing course. Very challenging from the tips. Make sure you don't bite off more than you can chew the first time around.
New golf course that is great
This course just opened up to the public. The clubhouse is just a trailer. But the course is one of the best to play in Atlanta. It is very challenging for the average golfer and requires multiple rounds in order to get better scores. However, I would highly recommend this course to anyone in the Atlanta area.
Best Greens Ever
I've played a ton of courses, and these greens rolled more perfectly than any other greens I've ever played. The course seems like it's in the middle of no where, but very accessible from Atlanta. HIGHLY recommended.
Great Course
Had a great time playing Echelon today, the course is in truly outstanding condition. Fairways are in excellent shape and the greens are fairly paced, smooth and true. I have played a large number of public and private courses and almost all of the high-end layouts in the Atlanta area. I would say hands down, this challenging Rees Jones design probably has the best consecutive 9 holes of golf (front 9) in the area. The multiple tee boxes offer sufficient flexibility and playability to challenge any player’s skill level.
One of my favorites yet
Loved everything about this course. Greens were in excellent shape and the course was challenging. As someone new to the game, I probably bit off more than I could chew, but it was worth it. Great scenery, rolling terrain, personable staff. Will be back.
Great track, pricey for this area
Love this course, except the uphill par 5 on the back. Premium course with a premium price. It's a treat to play from time to time. If the price was better, I'd play it more often.
Challenging as always
Greens are in great condition. Everything about the course of play was great! Love the challenges Echelon has to offer.
Tough, intimidating and very undulating course that feels like you are playing a mountain course.
This course is in tremendous shape and very tough. It demands good shots and the four par 5's are great holes with number 11 being very tough and the 18th hole has to be one of the toughest finish around. There is a great selection of holes with different length par 4's and usage of the hilly terrain. The greens are in great shape and good speed about 11' on the stimp. I am a 3.4 handicap and shot 76 with two doubles and two birdies.
Challenging course
Very challenging course with a lot of vertical change and uneven fairway lies. Very well kept, nice facility, but obviously fell victim to the housing crunch. I would be willing to play it again.
Expensive but nice........
This course is not for the faint of heart! Lot's of elevation makes for a challenging round. Most greens are elevated or below the cart path; be prepared for lot's of walking up and down!! Greens were in GREAT shape!! Had a blast, but my wallet paid the price! I would definitely go again when someone else pays............
PS. Don't expect nice clubhouse, a portable trailer is the best you get!
Very nice course , but no clubhouse , no cart girls, no starter ,no rangers
This day started out badly by me receiving an email confirmation from Echelon (not GolfNow) stating that my balance due at course was 20.00 ...when I arrived I was told that was the members fee and it was sent to me by mistake. Actual balance was 80.00.
I was a single at 10:20 and was supposed to be paired up with another 3 some ...I was told by the golf shop they checked in and the starter would pair us up , I arrived at the tee 15 min early but found no starter , the 10:10 went off and I went back to pro shop , who said the starter was supposed to be at the tee ....I went back to 1st Tee and found the 10:30 4 -some ...So I went alone ...no starter ....no snack-beverage cart on the course , no clubhouse, no food and beverage.... NO STAFF except 1 guy in a temporary shack collecting money for T-Times ....what a shame
Amazing condition with perfect rolling really fast greens.
Probably one of the best courses you can play in Atlanta and you better bring your 'A' game or you'll be scared to add up your scorecard. Definitely make the effort to play this course. They do not sell beer so make sure you bring your own aiming fluid.
Course in great condition!
Greens rolling as smooth and fast as I have seen them in a long time. Course was in very good shape! Took advantage of a "Hot Deal" and paid $45 for the round (you can't beat that). A very fair layout and a must play for anyone under a 20 handicap in the area!
The course is just spectacular, especially #'s 10 and 13!
What a golf course! Great staff, wonderful layout, and overall fantastic experience.
Beautiful golf course. Great diversity of holes.
I had a terrific day playing Echelon. The elevation changes made for tremendous diversity of holes and shots. Great value. The stretch from holes 11-14 was awesome. Tough but fair. Played mid week and the course was empty. Played 2 balls all the way around and still played in 3 hours.
Outstanding conditions
I come to Echelon because it has the best conditions of any public course in the metro area. The greens are truly pristine.
The course is very very difficult, and very long.
Superb
Superb course and a great challenge,Staff very friendly and helpfull.Would definetly play there again
Friendly Staff, Great views
This is a great course. Nice greens and great vistas. Staff extreamly friendly. Lots of elevation so you ate going up and down with many elevated tees and greens. very challenging.
