Fun day on the course!
New greens were ok but a little slow. Otherwise, it was a nice day, not crowded, good play pace. Would recommend.
Beautiful day for golf
The course is in great shape. The pace of play was slow.
Very enjoyable course
The was in good condition. The greens were consistent throughout the course and the fairways were in good shape.
Good test of golf and the new Bermuda greens will only get better
Great test of golf from the blue or gold tees. New Bermuda greens will only get better
New Greens
Greens have been replaced with Tifeagle grass. They are rolling very nice, very minor bare grass on the edge of greens. Fairways are near perfect. Only one tee box in bad shape. Played on a Friday morning and finished in under 4 hours as a threesome. One of the best courses for the money. Staff is great.
VERY DISAPPOINTED ON FATHER"S DAY!
I am absolutely appalled that neither the Heron Bay Staff nor GolfNow gave any heads up that everyone of the 18 Greens had previously been destroyed and were virtually unplayable! None of them had been watered in a very long time, there had been some type of chemical applied so there were virtual 1/4" inch cracks or gaps on the surface that made true putting impossible! They had been rolled very hard, and if you made the mistake of leaning on your putter while on a green you very easily could have landed on your Backside!
We learned after the turn that the course will be closed beginning today 6/18 while the greens are replaced! It should have been closed YESTERDAY! Our threesome had all driven over a hour to play on Father's Day, and we should have left after the first two or three holes!
Being a member of GolfNow's Golf Pass play, and thus prepaying for the benefit of discounted savings, I feel as though I have certainly been mistreated! I have played Heron Bay multiple times over the past four years and have enjoyed the course, but the lack of any shared information on the course conditions and greens Today, has ruined that for me and unfortunately I will not return.
Total Turf Failure
Greens were completely dead, and I mean baked out, fungus, cracked up... looked like a brown desert flats. Hard as a rock. It was impossible to hold a green or putt on them. This course should have been closed... which, they were closing the following day to do a full renovation of the greens. So, I hope to go back in a few months after they get that sorted because I love this track.
Otherwise, pace of play was a struggle. There were a few Marshalls circling, but I don't think they were really pressing anyone to pick up the pace. Someone up there was slowing it down. We had 4 groups on a hole at times!
Good Course
Course was good. Excellent fairways offering a bit of a challenge but not too difficult for the average golfer. Only drawback is that the greens were in terrible shape, would’ve done better putting in the parking lot
Under Construction
This is a nice course, but the greens were the worst I had ever seen. I spoke with the lady in the pro shop who told me they were ripping them up and putting in Bermuda grass on Tuesday. I’m assuming they stopped caring for them at all as they were lol dead with lots of damage. The greens were basically unplayable. It will be a great course once the revitalize the greens, but I wish someone would have disclosed the conditions of the greens prior to us paying $84 per person to play. I will play again in a few weeks once the greens are finished.
Great day of golf.
Course is in good shape. Greens are a little rough, although I hear the Course is closing soon the replaces the greens.
Great value
Of all the courses I have played. This is by far the best golf for the money.
minor improvements would make it 5 star
The course itself is in good shape but some greens are in need of extra care (patchiness due to over fertilizing or disease).
The restaurant does not have a grill so the only hot food available are hot dogs. The beverage cart was not available that day. No big deal there, but they don't sell liquor and the beer selection is very basic - no import lagers e.g. Corona, Modelo or Stela).
The course wasn't too busy but there was no Marshall to keep the pace flowing.
