Manatee Golf
Pleased to find the course in excellent condition!
Haven’t the course in a couple of years but we will return.
Average at best
The course was in poor shape, tee boxes were banged up, the grounds were not kept well. Muddy rough.
The course layout was decent. Challenging for most levels.
Do not rent their clubs!!!! Garbage walmart clubs that were dented woods and worn down grips on all.
Not worth the money
Overpriced for a maybe average course.
Delightful course
Layout is varied enough to be interesting. Greens are in great shape and run true.
just one request
there was no starter and no marshall to manage the pace of play. we ended up teeing off 17 minutes later than we should have, and consistently waited for slow players. this particularly is a problem with afternoon tee times.
Improvements Needed
Management needs a Marshall monitoring pace of play. There are to many people not repairing divots in fairway and on the greens. Price should be adjusted for Manatee County residents.
Good
Overall the course is in good shape and slow front nine but much better on the back.
Good value
Carts were like new with very comfy seats. Course was in good condition and challenging enough to bring us back.
Public course - gets lots of play
Decent public course to play with friends and family. Nice folks running the operation but greens need to be cut and rolled, fairways need to grow in.
Decent challenge on several holes - as I said, decent public course.
Manatee Public Course
Started out in great condition several weeks ago, now slowly regressing. Many divot marks on greens, some tee boxes getting in poor condition. Cost $49 to play 9 holes on back before 8am which is very overpriced for the course. Very difficult to reach the Pro Shop when using the online number. Always goes to third party answering service. PIP is nice but being forced to hit drive off artificial service has potential danger as they sell rubber tees that fly 10-15 feet in front of you forcing you to walk out in front of others or wait until others have hit around you to retrieve your rubber tee. Marshals are inconsistent in enforcing this
I'd Rather Pet Manatees
I am not an exceptional typist, but I consider myself a palatable writer, conveying thoughts clearly using the current English language for a set purpose and as an informative reviewing instrument and if provoked, a weapon. Finding a story within every experience is my desire and using the characters I encounter to serve up some verbal animated fun.
Let's start with Milt, the Florida Fast Times at Ridgemont High wanna be with a wig-ish looking sun beaten off dirty white Joe Dirt mullet. Not sure what was more disturbing to me, his teeth or the poorly phrased words that tumbled from behind those broken scummy chicklets. Didn't tell me anything about anything, where's the starter, are we early or on time, will the weather hold off? All of which I asked about, but at least I can now walk away from that busted grill and get on with my golf.
Then a quick stop in the men's room and the stenches hit me like a ton of poopy bricks and as I spun for the exit holding my breath, I caught glimpses of a bathroom that's not been attended to in days.
Cart guy looked so life beaten he could barely lift his chin to notice the $5.00 I tipped him for nothing other than the fact that his tip jar had only enough pennies to almost cover the plastic bottom. Poor guy in more ways than one, I felt terribly for him, not for Milton.
The course is short with the one handicap hole being somewhat interesting with a quick turn right to a circular shallow green. The rest of the course was damp and chewed up on the fairways and around the greens with clumps of no grassy spots. Lift, Clean and Place was in play with so much constant muck on my ball and not a rain shower in days.
So if your going to play here, just avoid all employees as best as you can and look at it as a day if practice if you get a good deal as I did on GolfNow. It's not the place to get excited about, the bunkers were in decent shape.
Course in good shape. Cart good. Staff friendly.
Played the last couple of years, getting in better shape all the time. Well worth the money.
