About
Located just southeast of Phoenix in the town of Florence, Poston Butte Golf Club offers some of the most affordable golf in the area. The course has desert attributes but the best part about its design is that it is more forgiving than some of the overgrown desert courses found in north Scottsdale. The golf course features 49 sand traps strategically placed around the landing zones and greensides and water comes into play on two holes. It is generally a player-friendly layout though with wide fairways and ample room off the tees. The par-3 17th is the signature hole, which is known for its challenging island green. Poston Butte also offers a double-ended, targeted grass range and a short game area.

Nice course even nicer staff
Jim was super accommodating. Will be coming back and look forward to the greens developing into spring.
Pace of play
I have played this course many times and pace of play is never a good experience. We played on a Saturday. In the group ahead of us was a new golfer. On the 1st hole she whiffed the ball at least 25 times. Behind us was a man with small kids. One of the kids hit into us on the 1st hole as we were leaving the green.

Greens were in bad shape
The greens were nearly bare, hard, very quick. Surprised as this course is usually in great condition.

Great course only problem was the sand traps. They are very hard. Can’t get under the ball.
Overall excellent
The course is in excellent condition. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all in great condition. The staff is very friendly and professional. Nobody wants to spend a hundred bucks to play golf but it is winter rates and this course is in better shape than other valley courses charging the same or more.
Great Course
Tee boxes, fairways greens stellar. Sand traps good as was pace of play. Great practice facility. Worth the drive.
Very nice
Course was in great shape, nice fairways, greens were nice.
Greens are pretty quick so watch out for that. If you stay in the fairway it’s not too challenging. However, if you play like me and seem to be allergic to fairways it’ll be a good challenge.
Very nice, but way out there
I have played Poston Butte several times and really enjoy the course. It has been several years, and the growth and traffic getting there from. Chandler has been amazing. Seems like it takes lingering due to all the signals.
Having said that, it is always in good shape and a lot of fun to play. The island green par 3 is a as dun as any hole you can play, even if not as famous as the island green at sawgrass, or the floating green at. Coeur d’A;ene.
If you have the time, its worth the teip.
