Editor's Note: Course closed for business.
Located in Callahan, Deerfield Lakes Golf Course is less than 10 miles from the Jacksonville International Airport. Its convenient location also makes it accessible from all of Jacksonville, as well as Amelia Island, and South Georgia. The 18-hole layout is player-friendly, providing a good round for all players despite handicap or skill level.
Deerfield Lakes Golf Course's well-manicured greens are medium in size and the lush, inviting fairways are average width. Although it is a forgiving golf course, water hazards come into play on sixteen holes to add some difficulty. There are also bunkers strategically placed throughout to keep golfers from taking the course too casually.

The course was in bad shape
Unfortunately, the course was very wet and did not make for a pleasurable game. I will not be returning.
New Adventures
Great Hot Deal price took us a few miles to Deerfield Lake for the first time. It is wide open with close fairways and not very much room between tee box and a few greens. Not sure how much rain they had recently in the area. The biggest drawback were the wet/muddy conditions throughout the course. Temps were sunny and mid 60’s. Every other shot required a ball cleaning or unplugging to continue play. New grass in front of the majority of the greens acted like a glue board. Greens were in very good shape and well maintained. The overall course and facilities, while showing their age, were very neat in appearance.
great price to get out and hit some balls
The course was in good shape considering all the prior rain they received. The staff was very friendly and the price was great. What a wonderful Christmas day it was.
First time but not last time
I received the opportunity to play at this course by winning the silent auction at an event I attended. It was a beautiful day in December and when I saw the initial view of the course from the first tee I knew I would like it because it’s a wide open course. The course was very wet due to the weather and there are a lot of ponds all over. Most par 4 holes are well over 375 yards and the par 5’s are reachable in 2 if you’re on your game. The greens are well maintained. It’s almost highway robbery the cost to play...$24 weekdays and $28 weekends with a cart. $2.50 - $3.00 for a cold beer. All in all this is a great place to hit a little white ball around, have a cold beer or two and enjoy some time with your friends. I’ll definitely be stopping by again
Really can't complain for 10 bucks even though course is in bad shape
As a golf now Hot deal four 10 bucks it's not a bad deal. But anything more than that would not be good. Don't know whay the owners are doing but the course is a good layout but maintenance isn't on par. very nice people though
Extremely wet
Course was close to unplayable due to all the rain
Under Major Clean up
I actually loved the course layout. Lots of hazard which makes it challenging.
They have new owners and they are in the process of triming trees and cleaning the ponds. But the debris is still laying on the ground.
Pace of play, we ended playing behind a three some, they actually looked for their ball more than they played. At the turn we finally asked if we could play thru and they agreed. We had to wait on every hole on the front 9. They should be aware of slow play.
Fun Muni
Deerfield Lakes is a laid back muni which is a perfect place to practice your game. Greens are starting to transition but fairways are fine and the ball rolls true on putts. Going to be a shame when this course no longer exists
This is an excellent value for the money. Very friendly, acomodating staff. I really enjoyed the course. I'll be back
Dr.
If any golfer who are looking for the best value, quite, not crowded, and to have a good time with bodies, this is the one. The course lay out good, not difficult for recreational golfer, and this golf course is best one for the buck in Jacksonville, FL area.
I really enjoyed playing here at the first time. and strongly recommend it.
Not worth the time or $$$$
Course nor greeens were NOT iin good condition. Hole were way to close for safe play. Were one fairway ended, another began. Tees are close proximity to the previous green, making errant approach shots bounding off the cart paths while you are teeing off. Cart died after 13 holes. Greens terribly burned out, a lot covered with sand. Extremely disappointed.
Not worth the drive
Played this course for the first time after finding it online. The staff was excellent and very friendly. The golf carts were well maintained and responsive. The course however was not worth the drive. The fairways had very patchy grass, a lot of dirt spots and were very hard. The greens were inconsistent in grass height which made putting and chipping difficult to judge distance. There were several fairways that contained large pine cones that stopped shots from rolling. There are better courses around for the money.
Excellent value course
This a no frills course. Open, flat course. Greens need attention: bumpy, inconsistent, brown fast patches and slow lush green patches. Very good value, but not a 4 star.
shape
the best shape its been in 10 years keep it up guys
Good Course
Pace of play was great. Amenities suck, but the price and course conditions were really good.
