If you want a country club, then go join Alaqua
If you want to hone your skills and enjoy spotting the occasional river otter, then this place is for you. Yeah the greens are long, but the staff are making overall course improvements daily.
Pros-
Price, Pace of play, Reachable but challenging par 4's
Cons-
Greens, Crossing active roadways between multiple holes, Par 3 18th. (The last is just a personal annoyance. I like finishing on a long driving hole.)
Tough course lots of water
Good day and course was in decent shape. Lots of wet spots but that’s Florida
I like this spot
Casselberry doesn't nearly get the respect that it deserves. It has one of the most challenging front sides of any track in Central Florida. The back 9 offers longer driving opportunities, as well as challenging and narrow par 3's. The greens are still a bit slow for my liking, but the course managers are making great improvements daily.
Get a round in before the hurricane
Had a nice day out at Casselberry. Hurricane was blowing off the west coast so the front nine had seen too much water the night before for play. Had to play the back nine twice to get 18 in. Course was in decent shape considering the weather.
Felt like our threesome were the only ones on the course. Played 18 in little over 3 hours.
Carts were of the older type but did the job.
Staff was great. Felt bad that we could only play the back nine so desk guy gave us a free round to come back.
Very nice gesture. Looking forward to playing the front.
Unbelievable.
Arrived to the course having already booked and paid for the round to be told that only 9 holes were open. So we paid full 18 hole prices for 9 holes of play. Then, while at the driving range, the sprinklers kick on and drench us, our golf cart and everything in it. When we went to tell the clubhouse staff, they said “oh the sprinklers are on a timer”. Not to mention the greens and tee boxes we’re indistinguishable from the sand bunkers. Needless to say, I’ll never step foot on this course again.
Fathers Day Ruined
I’ve been coming to this course since 1994. Never again.
I brought my two sons to golf at what I’ve always considered my “home” course. We have golfed there together before. My 15 year son has driven a cart there twice before. Today the young man in the club house asks for my sons license. I’d never been asked that before. Didn’t know that was a rule or even a law? Kids younger than my son drive around the streets of our town in golf carts and they are younger than my son. I’d said really? You are going to ruin Fathers Day like that? He rudely asks “would you let him drive your car”? Why yes, as a matter of fact he already had. And quite capably. This employee should not be allowed to interact with people. Others in the clubhouse commented saying “ that’s really messed up”. We left and went to find some other way to spend Fathers Day.
Maybe these are your rules. Unfortunately you chose to enforce them today as I’ve never heard or seen them at your course or anywhere else but ok. The fact that that kid behind the cash register had to be a jerk about it is unacceptable.
Signed
Looking for a new home course
Good for the price
Not experienced golfer? This is the place to play and practice. Not a perfect course but is a lot of fun.
Not a favorite
Strange layout. First four holes difficult to keep in play. Very short, narrow fairways lead to muddy hazards. Opens up after that.
Its what I expected
I drive past this course everyday and never really gave it a second look past the practice facilities. I finally decided to give it a chance. I played from the far back tees since the distance was pretty much around the what I normally would. Aside from the 244 yard par 3, distance was by no means my issue. If I were a smarter player, I would have left the driver in the bag. Narrow fairways and postage stamp greens made the course challenging. Fairways were fine, some areas were nicer to hit off of than others, but the greens were bumpy and slow. The start was a little backed up and we seemed to wait on almost every shot. If I were to play again, I would move up a set of tees and use irons only. Overall, it was alright.
