Fun Course, great value
If you haven't been here in awhile, it's time to come back. They have made major improvements to the course conditions making this a fun course to play.
Good Time
Unique layout. Fun to play. Not a country club setting but very worthwhile. I will play this course again.
Great Practice Course
This is a great course to practice different swings or to play to get into the seing.
Please read, and save your money
Hopefully I can guide a few people so they do not waste their money or time on this course as we did. It is not worth saving the $4-$5 per player greens fees that you would incur playing at a far nicer course.
This was my first time playing the course, and we will never go back, not even if you paid me. The driving range was abysmal and there was very little grass to hit from. They could have easily moved the ropes, but apparently are either too lazy or short-staffed to do so. The putting green was, however, immaculate and in great shape. They didn’t have any cart keys for us when we checked in, so we were forced to wait. When they finally came, they parked them out front but we had no idea where the first hole was. There were no signs and we ultimately teed off the 10th just because it was adjacent to the clubhouse, thinking it was the 1st.
The course itself is just horrendous. The game is played around the greens and they were terrible at best. If you are on the fringe, or have a long putt, just forget about putting. Chip it. There are large burned-out areas, and if you putt you will have no directional control over. On one green, I counted 26 ball marks. Most of the others were similar; I guess the majority of people who play there take no pride in the course.
After hitting a home on one hole, the homeowner came out to confront us. It was a fade, but the hole was tight. I hit far worse shots that day, just this is the one that got a home. If there was not a fence separating the home from the tee boxes, who knows what would have happened. The clubhouse was quick to call authorities once reported.
On seven occasions a car beeped their horn on our backswing. Now this is no fault of the course, however, it does give a good indication of the playing conditions and the cliental in the surrounding area. Many holes you need to cross heavy traffic just to get to the next tee box; it just does not provide a good golfing experience.
We chose this course to save a couple of bucks, but now wished I would have spent $20 more per player to play elsewhere. It was just an awful experience and my only goal in writing this is to help advise others who may be looking to play here in the future. There are many other courses in the area to choose from, and your experience and game will be much better.
Looking Good
The City of Casselberry has taken over this course and it is in the best condition it has ever been. I have played here since 1998, and they have made a real commitment to rejuvenate this course. Hope you all will make a visit to play the course. It's convenient, and priced reasonably.
Nice pplayable course
But there was some very tight holes on front 9. The greens putted well and were in good shape
Challenging and fair value
Old course that is being kept up as best as can be.
Castle berry GC
This is a good course for older or beginner golfers. Layout isn't very challenging and pretty short. Several par 4's are reachable. The course was in good shape and the greens were nice. Two greens needed some attention but the rest were in nice shape.
Great course for practice
I had never played here until December, but Ihave played this course four times in the past month. I am a casual golfer, trying to get better, like us all. This course is long enough so that I get to use my driver, and short enough so that I get to use all the irons. The course is not daunting in length, but tough enough to challenge any player. Seven holes on the front nine have water, but the back nine is more forgiving, which is great, because at my age, I do get tired sometimes. This a great course to work on your game. I can play 18 holes in about 3 hours, which pleases my wife.
Great improvement
My wife and I played. The course has improved and is very enjoyable to play. We had a great time
Casselberry New and Improved
I live on the Casselberry golf course and trust me when I say this course was bad before, greens made of sand, brown fairways. But WOW has it changed! The new management has done the best course renovation I have ever seen in central Florida. Greens, tees and fairways are in great shape. From what this course was just 6 months ago, anyone who has played Casselberry before will be shocked at the conditions now. Great job to the staff, Casselberry is now on par with other high volume quality central Florida golf courses like winter pines, deer run. Great price for the quality now
Getting Better
Casselberry has done a very nice job of improving this course. It was in fairly bad condition for a while. But they have done a lot of work to get it back in good shape.Still a work in progress but they are getting better.Keep up the good work CGC.
This course is best value for the money in central fla
Great but they need to address bathroom issue on course used to have to ports poties in course now only one for us seniors not going to make it to clubhouse bathroom if emergency play a lot of courses in area all have restrooms on each nine holes plus at clubhouse so they need to address this if they want more golfers
Much improved
It's evident management has committed resources to this course. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens all in good condition.
Great little course
Great value, course was in good shape. If you like older course designs, this you would enjoy the layout. Easy walking course too. I would go back for sure.
Much improved
We played this course about a year ago and it was in terrible shape. We haven't gone back because of the terrible conditions. I'm glad we have it another try. They have obviously made some improvements. Good value for the price!
Best course conditions I have ever seen at Casselberry!
I have been playing at Casselberry on and off for about 15 years, and these are easily the best conditions here I have ever seen. You cannot beat the price and course conditions!
Fairways are absolutely beautiful! Green and lush and well taken care of. The greens look really good and you can tell this new management company has spent time and money on making this course great again. There were about 3-4 holes where the green is still making its comeback, but they are well on their way.
Tee boxes were looking better than average, but they have plenty of divots from all the play. If you haven't played here in a few years, they have majorly cut back lots of the rough and wooded areas along the fairways. Course looks fairly different from a few years back and they also flipped the nines a few years ago.
No bathrooms on the course other than the clubhouse and there was no cart girl. I really love the layout of this course as it can be challenging, but if you hit it in the fairway, you have a really good chance at easy birdie or par. There is water on many of the holes, but not too bad that will get you in trouble.
If you haven't tried this course because it used to be "bad", please come and try this out again. Nice gem in Central Florida and I will happily come back here!
Much Better
I give it such a high rating because the value and the conditions the course were in a couple months ago. They've done a great job getting the course turned around. I'll be back playing it regularly again
Nice course with some challenges.
Course was in good shape, greens were a little slow with some patches of crab-grass but well worth the price. Some holes were a little tight, needing well placed shots but I'd definitely play this course again.
