Back Again
Have played this course off and on for over 30 years. Glad to see it still in operation. Greens were in good shape; the first was slow, the others not so much. Overall the course is good shape and glad to see that some of the ball-eating wooded areas have been cleared. The young man in the pro shop was very friendly and very efficient!
Better every week
For those who played this course a year or longer ago, and have not been back, try it again! Since the city bought it and budgeted for improvements, it is a different course. far from first class, it is a very good local, neighborhood/city course. Not long but has some holes that are a bit challenging. Continued grounds improvements will come as long as they keep it going. Military discount allows you to play a pretty fun course for under $20 and includes a cart. Just relax and enjoy a stress-free game of golf and don't worry that it is not Pebble Beach!
Good layout
Course layout was the best thing about this place. General condition was very poor. Would not go there again.
Descent Course
I have played this course years ago while living in the area. The Greens were fairly well kept considering the cost ratio of this round. Some of the Tee Boxes were actually set up pretty weird almost as playing a links course. Without a GPS a golfer would be completely thrown off by the set ups from teeing off on quite a few holes. Lastly the gentleman behind the counter did not seemed very friendly this is unfortunate but it would not deter me from coming back. My round came with lunch which I decided to skip due to the experience at check in. The started on the other hand was very nice and even paired me up with the group ahead of me to try to speed up the pace a bit.
Prices
Casselberry has had alot of improvments to the course. My only complaint is the prices for beer. There is no reason a six pack of shock top should cost 32 bucks, and a hot dog is 4 dollars. If they lowered the prices for drinks they would probably sell more. The Pines are always packed, and the bar area is never empty because of their pricing. Will continue to golf here as long as the course stays in good shape.
Most improved
I have played this course multiple times over the years and I would say this visit was by far the most improved I have seen the course. Cost to play for two of us was $45 total and our tee time was at 1030. There has always been other improvements such as a parking lot and the cart paths. The greens played true and the fairways were in good condition as well. Would play again soon if price was right.
For beginners only...
Don't waste your money on this course pay a couple dollars more and play a course that you would enjoy...
Always play here!
I play this course on average once a week! Great staff, and good course for a beginner to intermediate player
Not a good course
I only paid 15.00 to play this course, but I wouldn't travel from 45 minutes away to play for free. 2 for 1 draft beer, but they only have bud light and michelob amber to drink.
The course is very short, but fairways do have grass along with the greens. Greens must run a 6 on the stimp meter. (Slow).
There are also valleys in the green with will cause your ball to jump. The lack of water in the ditches leave a bad smell in the air. The surrounding community is old and dated. You will play pretty close to houses. Lots of noise from surrounding roads and dogs barking at you non stop when your on the tee box, I believe on hole 11.
This course could be very nice executive course. It needs a great superintendent and lots of land scapping with trees and shrubs to block your view from surrounding houses houses. It then would be a gem.
Windy
Very strong winds, which is not a fault of the course. Challenging course, especially the first three holes.
Casslberry Golf
The course is a great value for the $$. The greens are a little slow, but certainly in great shape. And putt well. The course is playable but if you are playing it for the first time it's nice to have someone with you that knows the course since there is a lot of hidden trouble. I would play there again.
Course was ok...a little disorganized
The price was great and overall I liked the layout. I booked through Golfnow and the course had no record of my booking. Luckily I had the confirmation number. Then I had to wait 1/2 hour to get some range balls.
Great shape great greens
Just like the title. They have it in great shape since the city bought it.
Big Change!
Wow what a change. I played here 3 years ago and promised never to come back. Then I heard a rumor that new management took over and put $$$ into the course the past year and boy is it looking great! The greens were green and rolling, fairways were manicured, sand traps were sandy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was shocked to see such a drastic change. Hats off to new management. My money will be going back here on a regular pace now.
