Desert Springs Resort has a longstanding reputation as a luxury resort that offers something for everyone. There are two championship golf courses that sprawl across beautifully landscaped grounds covered with lush vegetation and sparkling lagoons, providing a scenic oasis amidst the desert surroundings. From nearly every hole at the resort, golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the Coachella Valley and Santa Rosa Mountains. Water is the most prominent feature of both golf courses. Between the two of them, over 35 acres of water features come into play. The Palms Course is the slightly more challenging layout of the two, but both are accessible to players of all skill levels. The layout features well guarded greens, thick rough and towering palm trees bordering the holes. It has a memorable finishing stretch that starts with an island par-3 on the 17th and finishes with a tricky dogleg par 4 with water all along the left side.

Pace of play

The course was beautiful, great views, fairways in great shape, greens were fine. It was however it was a 6 hour round of golf. Teed off at 12:48 and left the course at 5:40 as sun went down with 3 holes to play. The tee boxes were lined up with Three foursomes. No Marshals to regulate pace of play. Very disappointing.

JW Marriott palms-don’t waste your money

Nice course layout, but do NOT play here unless they pay you to play it. 6 hours at $185 per player. Zero marshals on the course with 3 to 4 groups waiting on every tee box. I demand a full refund! Horrible experience.

Enjoyed playing the Palms course for the first time. Only comment would be that most of the traps I was in had very little sand at the bottom - made it difficult to get I’ve the high banks and keep a ball on the green. Otherwise all high marks.

Very windy

we played late in the afternoon the pace of play was less than 4 hours. Extremely windy conditions made scoring difficult. The greens were a little bumpy why don't my fellow golfers fix their ball marks on the green

Top 5 Course in the Valley

Golf course was in great shape, and a top 5 course to play here in the Valley! They have raised their rates over the past 2 years, not sure on the justification for it, and it’s a little out of control. I’d recommend it at least once though. Paying that much you’d hope they’d upgrade their bunker sand at the very least. Overall though a wonderful course to play.

did not play the palm course

I booked the palm course on a friends advice, however when I got there it was closed for a big tournament and they moved me to the valley course. the tee time was also moved up 30 minutes leaving me little time to warm up. the sand traps were not in very good shape and the greens had not be mowed in some time.

Slow

The Desert Springs courses Always play so slow. I get it as a resort course but they should have a Marshall to speed things up a bit. The people playing ahead and behind us said they’ll never play there again

For the money - ???

Great pro shop staff, bag guys and course starters. BUT, for the money, you'll be disappointed w/ the course experience. From a distance, the course looks great – green and plush but I can’t say anything good about the Greens Superintendent and his staff. The bunkers are like deep pits filled with small ground gravel; the concrete pan is easy to hit! Unfilled divots throughout the course are a sad site. We emptied the 2 sand bottles and never saw any sand refill stations on the course. The unrepaired ball marks on the greens are a blemish. Honestly, players paying this kind of money should know better and use the sand bottle generously and repair their own ball marks on the green - we never saw other golfers doing this.

Worst: The employees mowing and doing other course repair need guidance and awareness that they are not the only people on the course. They have no appreciation or concern for golfers. They do not stop mowing during swings and will mow in your path of play. The photo of the chopped up golf ball is after a mower guy, who saw me walking toward him, waving a wedge and pointing to the ground, purposely mowed over my ball! Never stopped or swerved to avoid me ..

When paying premium level green fees, remember you have choices so maybe select another course where the grounds crew have more appreciation of you.

Five plus hour round

Course is lovely but management doesn’t have enough golf carts in stock so we waited well past our tee time to go out. Several holes were stacked two and three groups deep. Eight minute tee times, resort golfers, no rangers - definitely not worth what you will pay.
