Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
About
Desert Springs Resort has a longstanding reputation as a luxury resort that offers something for everyone. There are two championship golf courses that sprawl across beautifully landscaped grounds covered with lush vegetation and sparkling lagoons, providing a scenic oasis amidst the desert surroundings. From nearly every hole at the resort, golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the Coachella Valley and Santa Rosa Mountains. Water is the most prominent feature of both golf courses. Between the two of them, over 35 acres of water features come into play. The Palms Course is the slightly more challenging layout of the two, but both are accessible to players of all skill levels. The layout features well guarded greens, thick rough and towering palm trees bordering the holes. It has a memorable finishing stretch that starts with an island par-3 on the 17th and finishes with a tricky dogleg par 4 with water all along the left side.

Golfer Reviews
Slow
The Desert Springs courses Always play so slow. I get it as a resort course but they should have a Marshall to speed things up a bit. The people playing ahead and behind us said they’ll never play there again
Well designed course
Great course conditions, skillful design, challenging water and bunker placement. Reasonable pace of play. Highly recommend.
For the money - ???
Great pro shop staff, bag guys and course starters. BUT, for the money, you'll be disappointed w/ the course experience. From a distance, the course looks great – green and plush but I can’t say anything good about the Greens Superintendent and his staff. The bunkers are like deep pits filled with small ground gravel; the concrete pan is easy to hit! Unfilled divots throughout the course are a sad site. We emptied the 2 sand bottles and never saw any sand refill stations on the course. The unrepaired ball marks on the greens are a blemish. Honestly, players paying this kind of money should know better and use the sand bottle generously and repair their own ball marks on the green - we never saw other golfers doing this.
Worst: The employees mowing and doing other course repair need guidance and awareness that they are not the only people on the course. They have no appreciation or concern for golfers. They do not stop mowing during swings and will mow in your path of play. The photo of the chopped up golf ball is after a mower guy, who saw me walking toward him, waving a wedge and pointing to the ground, purposely mowed over my ball! Never stopped or swerved to avoid me ..
When paying premium level green fees, remember you have choices so maybe select another course where the grounds crew have more appreciation of you.
Golf with Frank
Just wonderful. From 1st tee to last putt. Staff were efficient and friendly, breakfast burrito was delicious. Course was in fantastic shape.
I will definitely be back.
Five plus hour round
Course is lovely but management doesn’t have enough golf carts in stock so we waited well past our tee time to go out. Several holes were stacked two and three groups deep. Eight minute tee times, resort golfers, no rangers - definitely not worth what you will pay.
Love to play Desert Springs Marriott
Great conditions, I was a single player who was paired up with some great guys. Had a blast. Pricey but affordable with GolfNow hot deal.
Great course, brutal pace of play
Course was spectacular, but we turned 9 holes in 2:50. Multiple times there were almost three groups waiting on the tee boxes. I don’t remember seeing a Marshall come by to speed things up even a little.
Slowest pace I have ever experienced
I have been golfing for 20+ years and never have I ever experienced the slowness of pace as I did in my round yesterday. At the third hole, there were five groups 10 carts waiting at the tee box and then it was stop wait play stop wait play all day. It took just over 3 hours for nine holes. I didn’t get to complete my round because of darkness and only got to play 15 holes. If the course wasn’t in such good shape and a very nice layout I would never recommend this course to anyone. I hope the next time I play this course it is not as slow so I can play a full round because it is a great course from what I got to experience.
Hood resort golf
Course is good, greens seemed a little beat, mostly due to lots of ball landing marks, enjoyable round, wind was blowing pretty good, but still playable.
Great Except
Had a great time with our playing partners. Going great until a fifth guy joined the group in front of us kill ed the mojo. 4 hour round turned into 5.5 hour round and major hangry pains. Would have liked a course marshal to be on the course. Otherwise, it is a great course, fair and fun.
