Glen Abbey Golf Club
About
The 18-hole Glen Abbey Golf Club in Debary, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dominic Palombo, Glen Abbey Golf Club measures 6661 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 137 and a 72.9 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass and the fairways are winter rye.
The Glen Abbey course winds through gently rolling landscapes of sylvan splendor and a 60-acre body of water known as “No-Name” Lake. There are no parallel fairways and all fairways are tree-lined. Water comes into play on eight holes. There are 80 strategically placed bunkers. Crepe myrtle, elderberry and oleander plantings are an aesthetic addition to existing magnolia, oak and towering pines which frame most fairways.

Fairway edges are thick. You can lose lots of balls.
Course improving
Course is interesting and conditions are improving. Tee boxes were poor but fairways and greens were ok. Carts are provided with a rake to help keep traps in good shape and they were. I live nearby so I play here occasionally. If you're within 30 minutes, course is worth a look. Staff is very friendly.
Good value and friendly staff
We enjoy playing Glen Abbey. It suits our game and doesn’t break the bank. Staff is always super friendly and accommodating.
Place is kind of in shambles
I went with a friend and the course was just not in the best condition and half the greens were in horrible condition.
Price you pay is what you get
Cheaper price course but course was pretty good. Working to make it better. Pace of tournament players was so slow tho. Group was a hole and a half behind the group in front of them.
Still a work in progress
Lots of work being done on the course. Most of the greens are in good shape. Fairways are being aerated and are rough in some places.
Bottom line, rates are very reasonable these days and the course was not crowded. Pace of play is what you make it and the course still has a pretty challenging layout. While I would love to see it as it once was, I still recommend playing it today.
The course seems to be coming together - recovering from the cold winter and the work they are putting into it.
The greens are better and the fairways are good but there is still much that can and should be done. Give them credit - they are trying.
There is still work that has to be done on the greens and
some of the tee boxes. It has been very dry but now that we have gotten some rain - heavy rain at times - the
course should respond to the welcome water.
